Dignity, ferocity, charm still present in the dialogues, but personalization is gone out of the window of the character. This is one of those things that was good just because it is. I would like to know why it was removed? Perhaps it is not even removed, just the developers forgot to add it to the new character window or smth….

I guess it just got lost after release…
I thought it to be an interesting idea, but actually there are more pressing issues in the game right now.

I would unhappily bid farewell to a much used system if it were just that, ‘much used’ but tbh, I hadn’t really given it a second thought as I never knew what it was supposed to do in the first place.

It was always useless anyway.
The only thing it did was give a few different dialogue options, which had no use either. Different personality dialogues don’t actually give any different outcomes in the story (a la dragon age/mass effect).

I never got why they implemented this system in the first place.

Personal Story, Personality, Underwater combat – these things were really cool ideas, unlikely to see in other MMOs. They gave the feeling of adapting, sense of your character and grabbed my attention as some good features. Sadly, they’re all forgotten.

All hail Living Story!

And as for the topic: Personality could be like in Fable, somehow. Not only affecting the dialogues, but also:

-Affect random world responses you get from NPCs
-Affect vendor NPCs – some may give you a discount if you are ferocious, like some charr vendors, some may fear you at the same time and sell nothing. Same goes for other types – Charming personality won’t give you any advantage among the Charr but could in contacts with humans.
-Sligtly affect your look and voice, character responses – Nothing too extreme. Just a minor technical change to deepen the voice, maybe make you teeth whiter (lol)

The only reason personal story is forgotten is because it’s not being expanded upon. Instead we have to make do with Living Story..

I don’t think it even gave dialogue options, I’ve had characters with max in one personality get options to only say something in one of the other two personalities.

It did give additional dialogue options, however, only at specific times with specific personality – so it was very easy to miss them entirely. And I do think I got a lot more “You look friendly” comments on my scoundrel mesmer than on my other characters, though I can’t say that for sure.

But yeah, the implementation was very limited.

Only fools and heroes charge in without a plan.

If you judge the usefulness in this way – that 80% of the content of this game is useless. The question is – to whom it prevented? Why remove it?

I’m hoping they are just doing an overhaul of that system. We did discuss during 1 of the CDI’s that we would like that system to have more meaning, to have more impact on the game play. They may be doing that… we’ll just have to wait and see I guess.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

If A-net develop this idea – it would be is just precious. Wasteful to just take it and throw away

I have lots of “score” in Charm and once I could start an event that noone could, by speaking with an NPC.
My brother didn’t had the dialog “heart” line. It was just a normal npc for him.

This was the only situation I ever saw this system beng used, and I also agree with you

Don’t know if it’s that what you’re looking for, but
under the tab “My Story” —> “I’m …”, you still find what your Character’s preference is.

Only dignity, ferocity or charm seem to appear there… if i remember correctly there has been a multitude of other “personality types” before the 15. of April.

Yeah, your ‘personality type’ would change on the hero panel, depending on how much of the different types of responses you had given. I had all 3 bars about 75% full on my ele and her ‘personality type’ was shown as ‘Unpredictable’ It was awesome
