Please eliminate this “reward” from the wooden chests. For once make a random reward a guarantee of something of value, I never understood the logic of these rare and random chests when putrid is the outcome 75% of the time.

Isn’t this common with undead mobs, like Air elementals tend to drop charged lodestones and Destroyers tend to drop Destroyer Lodestones.

I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

You are looking at this from the wrong end. Putrid Essence is not “one of the rewards that drop from wooden chests” – wooden chests do not have any “drop list” at all. Instead, any rare or better drop that ends on the floor to be picked up is shown as a wooden chest. Putrid Essence is a yellow (rare) drop.
So, basically, when you get it from a wooden chest, it doesn’t mean that it took place of some other “wooden chest” drop. That chest always contained only that one putrid essence. If you were to remove it, you would get nothing instead, not a different rare.

Actions, not words.

True.^ What you would really be asking for is to change the rarity of the item Putrid Essence. The Devs only created the Wooden Chests (and whatever the other chest marker is) as a marker so people could more easily see there was a Rare-level item or better that dropped.

Wooden and steel chests both became meaningless anyway when LS items and champ loot was added.

Steel chests used to be the ultimate rave music freak out moment.
