Anyone else having hard problems with high ping/latency since patch, in special in the course of this week?

The game is just unplayable for me, the panel of settings show my fps at 150, and the overall delay of everything around of me reachs 5-6second, or even worse – sometimes 30-40s.

Tried tunnelling connection, and also didn’t worked. Whats up? Do I need to wait a anet fix, or do I need to fix my connection? Don’t think its the case, I play other mmos and don’t have any f those issues. Gw2 is the only one.

Are you on NA servers or EU servers? I’ve heard people talking about lag issues in EU since the patch.

Type /ip in your chat window and then do a traceroute to that IP.

To do a traceroute, open up the “Run” box on your computer (shortcut is WindowsKey + R), and type in “CMD”. A black box with white text will pop up. In that enter in “tracert XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX”, where the X’s are replaced with the IP address you got from the “/ip” command in your Guild Wars client.

Post the results here. There might be something that ANet can work with in it.

I did experience lag twice after the patch. But is is temporary and usually fixed in an hour.

Most of the time I’m playing fine. I’m not sure if it is my end or Anet end or some Dos attack.

But most of the time I’m fine.

Tbh, no. I use a w764bit, but a virus destroyed my cmd.exe, and then my only avaiable option was use the cmd.exe of xp. . My computer is a genreal gamer machine, not so bad, with i5 and a 512 bits geforce2gb, quadcore 2,9ghz. Can’t talk about my internet connection tough, but it just run in full setting Games like Eso/Tera, so wasn’t to be having issues with gw2, since gw2 is softer than eso for example.

I’ve had some lag after the patch too, but nothing that’s much worse than before the patch. I get a few spikes and then it goes away.

You might want to look into the “Repair” function if you have an installation disk. It can restore corrupted/missing/deleted system files. So, at the very least, you can get back your correct version of CMD. And, if a virus destroyed that as you say, chances are it’s probably hurt other system files as well, you just might not have realized it yet.

You’re gaining nearly a second of lag to hop 5.

Hops 1-2 look like your local routing node.
Hops 3-6 are probably your ISP.
Hops 7-9 are the route taken to the NCSoft exchange.
Hops 10-13 are the NCSoft exchange.
Further hops are the game servers themselves (which block pings).

Keep in mind that you likely don’t notice the lag in anything else because this is satellite-level lag at best, ~800ms will not affect anything other than games with little to no consequence on general Internet usage, streaming, etc.

All you can do is call your ISP, the problem is not GW2.

I have the same problem! Since Thursday I’ve been having problems trying to run the game’s launcher. It keeps trying to connect to the game server to log into the game. However, I keep getting the same error message “Connection Error(s) detected. Retrying…”. I’d like to request some help in order to solve the problem, since I’ve did EVERYTHING possible to try fit it but was worthless.

Today, the tech support came to my home. He did some tests with the internet, disabled a few things from my modem, but without success. After some testing, he did the same test (by using CMD.EXE) and it showed that the connection drops when the computer try to connect to the NC Soft’s servers (see attached photo), after leaving the Embratel’s servers just like you.

Reformat your pc, reinstall GW2 and I guarantee most (if not all) of your issues will be solved, using a mash up of OS files can’t be good for running any app or game.

Today, again in EU this afternoon we had spikes and lag after it constantly. And I’m talking about a group of random ppl. Not just my country. Now this goes on for months now. Spikes and lag on a daily basis ain’t cool.
Me personally never had issues prior to this September patch.

@ the OP I think you need to run a speed Check on your IP.. That will tell a lot but do it while the game is actually running in windowed mode…. Just Google speed test as I am not sure what is available where you live…

Yeah, it looks like you have an issue in your connection to the internet. This looks less like a problem with Anet and more of a problem with your ISP.
