Pirates of Caribbeans reference?
Nice screenie!
Also, don’t forget about the Orrian bone ships, they pop out of the water just like Davy Jones’ ship, the Flying Dutchman. PotC everywhere in GW2! xD BUT WHY IS THE RUM GONE?
Yeah that was an obvious one, but I loved it
Also some pirates will sing the classic pirate song if you stand around them enough.
I’m positive that MUST be the fountain of youth.
The cave is very similars to the one in the movie and that misterious rock in the middle is shaped like the fountain…
It feels good to know that somewhere in the Anet team there could be another PotC fan
Not sure about Pirates of the Caribbean, but I spit out coffee when, while standing in Lion’s Arch, I hear the Galaxy Quest reference…
The rum isnt gone, there is a heart quest where you have to steal the rum so the pirates stop getting drunk and fighting.
@Mea
South of straits of devastation.
No need for a screeny but my mate recons the teleport portholes look much like the stargates in ….. stargte! Also, map to map portals look like portals used in many scifi programs such as sliders.
I’m sure there are many similarities between things in GW2 and out, many deliberate parodies and lots of tributes.
Now then, where is the bunny and the cave?
(starts playing J P Sousa in head!)

It’s a stone with hole in it. If that’s enough for you …
For what it is worth to me the Fountain from PotC kinda looks like the Guardian of Forever.
He might know where’s the rum gone
Aint’nt that a ‘Treasure Island’ ref?
I love the pirate general singing a Gilbert and Sullivan song. Classic. Laughed for ages with that one.
