Hi all, just a quick post to remind ArenaNet that Aussie players are still suffering from latency sitting in the mid 200s and jumping sporadically to the 300s and sometimes worse.

I’m not here to request physical Australian servers, all I ask is that some servers like Sea of Sorrows be physically placed on the West Coast, near where a certain rival company have theirs. This would give us a stable 180ms (give or take) which is a lot more playable than 250 with random fluctuations. It also wouldn’t cost anywhere near the amount it would to place servers down under.

It would be nice to hear from a Dev. or some other official person from ArenaNet about this as I and many others feel as though dedicated Aussie players have been forgotten about.

Dreaming of the day we get physical West Coast servers.

Why would anet move servers to a location that would serve their intended region worse? It doesn’t make sense. Especially since having split location servers would likely make things more difficult to manage.

I don’t think it hurts to ask for oceanic servers. A number of big game companies have set up server farms in australia in recent years, including some companies that most aussie folk thought never would.

Maybe it’s worth re-evaluating the business case for aussie servers.

I only asked for some servers and these servers would still service their intended region as the West Coast players would get better latency along with the Oceanic players.

Except moving the servers to the west coast would produce a noticeable degradation in performance for players on the east coast; the huge difference in latency between east coast and west coast players actually just caused Riot to relocate their LoL servers to Chicago to balance things between the coasts.

I’m all for giving the Australians their own servers, but gimping the US servers for people in the US doesn’t quite seem right to me.

Good idea! West Coast will be better for the entire AUS + SEA regions.
