Planned refund of Candy Corn Gobbler
Wow, just noticed the new MF boost is only 7 minutes long. What a useless piece of junk this turned into.
Good luck (sincerely). I’m not happy with mine either but I bought it long ago and I don’t think they give refunds unless it’s right after purchase.
ANet may give it to you.
I am glad I did not buy one. This change seems outrageous.
Bait and switch much?
In gw1 days Anet would have said something by now, GW2 days very very slim.
“ANet. They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity to not mess up.”
Mod “Posts created to cause unrest with unfounded claims are not allowed” lmao

It only cost 300 gems which is a relatively cheap cost compared to most gemstone items and I’m guessing you’ve had it at least a year and by your post I’d also guess you’ve been using it quite a bit and it’s still technically usable as it hasn’t been disabled so personally I’d think you got your money’s worth out of it and that it’s fulfilled its purpose but considering ANET is normally rather nice with their service they’ll probably give you a refund anyways.

It is the principle of the thing. Changing the buff in a shady and secretive manner. No warning. Couple that with the way they silently removed karma boosters from the enchanted booster selection and the whole patch gets really shady.
Wow they reduced it that much? Was thinking of getting one if it came back.
Well, at least it’s not an Infinite Continue Coin since there’s been use of it up ’til now.

The Candy Corn Gobbler is Infinite Continue Coin 2.0

Actually it wasn’t secretive and shady, the entire change to Boosts was highlighted in a Blog post on October 11th, and all the new boosts last 2 Hours, if you are seeing anything less than 2 hours it’s a bug: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/complete-booster-overhaul-and-dwaynas-weapon-set-in-the-gemstore/

The person you quoted was largely talking about how the karma option was completely removed from Enchanted Boosters. You can’t select Karma anymore, and that wasn’t written anywhere on the patch notes or the blog posts.
am i the only one happy with the new +50% to pvp reward track?
Nope. I actually like the changes. I seem to be getting more karma, armor and speed boosts than I did prior to the change. And since those are the main ones I am concerned about the change works to my benefit.
The problem isn’t the boosts (at least the ones that actually exist) from the gemstore. It’s the boosts that the Candycorn Gobbler spits out are now of a much shorter duration. Seven minutes is just enough to interfere with actually playing the game.

Basically the only reason I purchased and used the candy corn gobbler on my second account was to increase WXP gain, since that’s a pain to level up.
The boosts were absolutely worth it, since WXP boosts were higher duration and much more common than the other random boosts you’d get from the gobbler.
Now, you get a boost that gives +50% (despite not being in the tooltip) WXP for much less time, and it comes much less often than the transformations.
I’ll be getting a refund on this ASAP I think.
Refunds are definitely in order – as long as they can also revoke all experience, karma, rewards and everything else gained while under the affect of a gobbler boost.

This if you’ve been using it for many months and you’ve received benefit from it, you’d have to give back that benefit in order to get a refund.
So, if they decided that my permanent mining pick could only be used twice per gathering node instead of 3 times each then I shouldn’t expect a refund for the tool? They’ve changed the functionality of the device and made worth about 1/2 what it was before; surely they should expect people will be dissatisfied with the purchase.
I expect that support will refund the items if people fill out a ticket and ask for a refund.

If a product stops functioning in a manner consistent with its original described design, not inclusive of normal wear and tear, a request for a refund is reasonable. The consumer should no more be expected to return the past yield of the product than should the company be expected to compensate the consumer for the time spent using it or any gaines made by possessing the money paid for the product.
The company made the choice to take action to negatively impact the product paid for by some of their customers. The burden is on them to make it right if they desire to maintain a positively perceived relationship with those customers. Of course you cant please everyone but taking money from a customer for a given product and then unilaterally taking that product away (replacing it with a different, undesired product) is bad customer service and is wrong.
I guess the question is, how was it sold. That is to say, what details did Anet provide in relation to what the gobbler did. If it didn’t provide specifics and those were determined by fans, then I’m not sure there is cause for a refund.
However, if the description of the item included detail there might be.
Did Anet break down exactly what it did in the product description?

There was a brief description that gave a general idea of how it worked. It’s too long ago for me to remember it exactly but presumably it’s the same description as in the wiki.
“Use this and 3 of your candy corn for a festive Halloween transform or a random boost.” (— In-game description)
The rest from wiki would be after people bought it, tried it out and posted on wiki what it did. An unknown amount of time after it was put for sale in the gemstore.
ANet may give it to you.

That’s my point. If Anet sold this based on a random boost, and never actually specified what that boost is, it’s not quite so cut and dried about who’s entitled to what. Now if Anet said something like you buy this booster you get 50% experience boost for 10 minutes and they change it, there’d be a point, but that’s not what Anet said or sold.
It’s questionable at the very least.

Yeah, you’re right. I’m not asking for a refund and I don’t think anyone who asks will get a refund. However, those people are also right. They spent gems on an item, were using it according to the rules of it and suddenly the rules get changed.
It’s more the slow drip, drip, drip, of annoyances where you buy something from the gemstore and the item you buy which has a certain description, look or action is changed unilaterally without notice and suddenly your purchase isn’t worth to you the gems you paid for it. If I buy something from a store, I don’t expect it to be whisked away some day and changed to another look or function without so much as a by-your-leave or a “sorry, here’s why we had to do this”. Echoing silences after unilaterally and unexpectedly changing someone’s purchase does not a good community or business relationship make.
Maybe the pixels belong to ANet and maybe I’m only buying gems not items, but you know, that was my real money that was used to buy those gems and I don’t think I EVER bought something from the Guild Wars 1 store and they changed it on me later.
ANet may give it to you.
ANet’s response, after they’ve done something that the players don’t like.
ANet may give it to you.
I would be interested to know if it still can stack 7 days of buffs. I am waiting for my current buffs to run out before I check due to them not stacking with each other.
Remember the Infinite Continue Coin? I don’t think they’ll be giving you any refund.
It was only 300 gems and you have got value way over 5000gems+ from it with the broken buff it give to WXP,have like 6days of Wxp on my WvW guardian it was that broken.
Add the 50% WvW exp bonus to the new EXP buff…and we’ll all call this done like dinner. We will even look past the underhanded nerfing of the random boosts getting cut in half duration.
Respect your players Anet. This is disgusting.

Is that even a valid argument? If you bought something from me, used it and I later came back and changed the way it works without your permission, could I then say, “You got value way over what it cost you” and that would make it ok?
ANet may give it to you.

“+50% exp in all game modes”
the patch notes confirm that it applies to wvw.

due to the cooldown on the gobbler, I’d say 7 minutes is just enough time until you get another boost if you are using it continuously. that’st my biggest gripe with it. it takes you an hour just to get an day’s worth of boost.

you paid candy corn for the buffs. you didn’t pay 300 gems for 6 days of wxp. you paid 300 gems for the ability to turn candy corn into buffs. 6 days for a buff takes upwards of 5,000 candy corn.
I imagine they nerfed it because they completely overestimated how much candy corn they threw into those ToT bags, thus the market is still flooded almost a year later.

The ability to keep the buffs up and running requires constant clicking. Talk about a nag button!!!! With all the Quality of Life complaints in “Click Wars 2”, I’m surprised the Dev’s would make such a poor decision in changing the duration. The issues of hand health and how fast the game eats up mice and keyboards, I really am stunned the Dev’s would make something so demanding of clicks. Even with constant clicking, some buffs can drop to a few seconds left before they reapply. The duration of applied buffs is just way too short.
If it’s about eating up the Candy Corn supply, the Dev’s should have just increased the amount of candy corn per click to 4.
How long did you use it for?
The buffs stack. Click – Count 5 – Click – Cancel the transform – Count 5 – Click – Count 5. Just keep stacking them as you run places. As you hop – jump – and otherwise move around just keep clicking and counting while you get places. So 7 to 14 to 21 to 28 etc. Eat a stack of candy corn for hours of buffs!

Highly doubt you’re getting a refund. You willingly used it this long, they wont give a refund.

this is literally what the problem is, though
the sheer time spent doing this is what makes it frustrating and a waste
just fix it to consume multiple stacks of candy corn at once so we save both time clicking and time onTHE SAME BUFFS that we’re trying to get to have a longer duration on
Sounds funny… hope it returns in the current sales, I’d give it a try.
Oops, non-canonical opinion.

Not actually sure if it’s a nerf anymore; I used a bunch for reset night last night and it seemed to give around the same amount.

I think it has to do with the buffs being combined so you won’t get an individual useless one such as +xp, when you want wxp.
Still, the brief duration make it very hard to use on the go, and this isn’t very convenient; if most boosters seem to be for convenience, this one isn’t.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
It was an awesome item. Once I obtained what I wanted with it, Gold WvW status, it was permanently retired in favor of other items. It’s a shame that those still using it are up the creek now.
I’ll just use my birthday blaster. It may only last 10 minutes at a time but I don’t have to spam through transformations to get something useful.
ANet may give it to you.
