I got one from a black lion chest yesterday…i can sell it for 132G on The TP. Should i sell it or just use it? Platinum is a t4 material so would it be worth it to just use it up in my home instance?

Unless you really, really like your home instance, you’re better off selling it on the trading post.

Or keep it and charge a fee like some entreprenuer was doing in Hoelbrak a couple of nights ago. Since team-mates can mine the nodes you have in your instance.

What’s the typical fee, in your observation?

I ask because 132G now is probably worth more than 200G three months from now, that also requires you to invest your time finding buyers.

Mixing insults with your post is like pooping in a salad.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.

Well this one was charging 20s for “all nodes”

If you’re going to go through that route, just make sure you are not using the LFG tool to advertise it. It has been disallowed to advertise it on LFG.

If it takes you 10 minutes on average to find a buyer for 20s, and “all nodes” is actually just the nodes they already have unlocked (no further investment cost) then…

It’s something like 110 hours before you break even.

Sell the node.

Sell it, there’s really no point in having one node.

Sell. If it were a rich node, I’d say keep. But 3 plat a day vs. 130 gold: no contest.

Potential dozen silver a day vs 130g now… how many days would it take to earn that potential money? Are you going to your home instance daily? I’d sell it personally.

It’s only really “worth it” in a convenience sense that, if you accumulate 4 metal/wood/plant nodes you can knock out the daily gatherer super fast. I have collected most of the nodes because I like having a full home instance. Sure it is a luxury, but it costs about as much as one of the expensive precursors, which are also luxuries.

Around reset, I’ll ask in map if people want to join for home node farm/daily, but don’t explicitly charge for it like the hoelbrak guy mentioned above. People tip anyways (sometimes a surprising amount) and I appreciate it, but I wish more people would just say thank you. If someone asks what an appropriate tip is, I usually ask for the truffles that they gathered so I can make truffle steak to use.

tl;dr – it is a luxury and it is only worthwhile in a convenience sense if you are going to deck out your home instance.

For me the game is not so much about how much money I can accumulate, but the enjoyment of playing it. So I’d rather add the node to my home than sell it. Then I would enjoy harvesting that node every day. Three times, actually, since I have 2 alt accounts.

I’m pretty sure you’d have to buy 2 more for the alt accounts in that case, making it even more expensive

That seems like a lot of trouble for 9 Platinum Ore / day, but whatever floats your boat.

Problem is, you can harvest all those nodes in you home instance only once per day
per account.

He has two alt accounts and two computers to run them from. So, he could harvest it on his main account, take the second account in to harvest a second time, and then take the third account in to harvest a third time.

Ok .. but then he would also have to clients running at the same time to invite
account 2 and 3 with the first account into the instance with the node.

Would be so much easier just to port to Timberline Falls and mine the permanent
rich vein there .. and if you do that with 3 accounts you have 30 instead of 9.
And of course you can mine that one also with every single character ^^

Oh I agree that it’s far more convenient to just go to a zone with platinum and mine there; I don’t see the point in getting the nodes for your home instance. But the guy can still harvest the home node three times a day if he really wants to.

Plus collect the candy corn, sprockets, crystals, lotus, etc. I also charge crystals while in there – at least on the main, don’t do any of that stuff on the alt accounts. They mostly feed stuff into the main.

Yeah, kind of nice to have a few extra nodes in there. I happen to have a toon perma-parked in a city anyhow, so it’s hardly any trouble to visit daily.

If you only plan on mining it yourself, you’re far better off selling it.

However, if you have a large guild and/or circle of friends and they have watchwork picks, and thus can have so many people mine it, might just be worth it in terms of time saved when that region miner daily shows up.

If you need the gold, the decision is still probably sell. However, if you don’t then you might want to consider that possibility.
