I meant something more along the lines of personal housing. I am, for the most part, a solo adventurer that just runs around with my friends. I am in a guild, but I very rarely participate outside of dungeon running and living story completion. It looks like the Guild Halls in the link you gave would be a massive collaborative effort, which I just generally don’t do. Not that I don’t agree with Guild Halls, I’d just like something I can build by myself and then have my friends over to duke it out in a sparring ring.
Around the time GW2 launched both player homes and guild halls were said to be coming sometime in the future. I still hope this will happen, & in the nearest possible future .
For me a customizable personal player home would be more important than guild halls: I love my guild, but the things that I love my guild for are allready there and plenty, and though a guild hall would be fun, a player home would make me extatic instead!
A home that we could show trophies in, (maybe even armor, weapons and minis like gw 1 HoM!), decorate, or even build from ground up with stuff found in the world.
Im the type of GW2 player that would get a huge boost to my sense of “belonging” inTyria, “reason to fight”, from a home, much more than from the personal story, main or living story quests for instance.
My chars are not really selfless brave “commandeers” keen on saving the world all the time.. They are a greedy bunch of adventures after new goodies and exploration, and they desperately long for a place to hang their hat on, and bask in their shinies between adventures.
I dont think it would draw players away from cities either, more likely if some home deco could be crafted, it might draw new people to the crafting stations.
Any customizable home system would make me very happy, but a system resembling the personal “dimensions” in Rift would be wonderfull = choose from different spaces where you can build allmost anything from stuff found in pve, from events , crafting, or gem store.
I think it would be a great marketing move for the gem store too, having some gem store only items and houses or areas, and fair as long as its also possible to accomplish a nice home without buying gems.
Also it would be a great way to widen festival items variety/rewards, and getting a “less glorious” or more common home deco item from a fest bag would be more fun than getting a, say candy cane hammer skin 20 times -instead get 20 placeable home deco candy canes and you can decorate the tree you bought for 100 ugly sweaters.
Cheers, hope we`ll hear about homes some day soon!
PS. edit: and of course home trophy/deco items only found on some quests, bosses, dungeons or achievements, yes, seeing the amount of such grow in my home would really give a sense of “personal story” for me

What crafting skill(s) do you think would be used in building a home? Huntsman could probably be used to make lumber, tailoring for cushions and carpets, artificing for random finery, dunno about stone work though…
This is all assuming that they don’t add another construction crafting skill for use in home making.
Will Guild Wars 2 ever have something like a personal player owned home?
This is a bad question, but for all practical intents, the answer is ‘no’.
The fact is that plans within ANet change too frequently for them to promise any such thing, and you’re wasting your time if you just wait for it to happen. Maybe it will happen, someday, but that’s not something you can count on.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
I remember when Anet said that Guild Halls and personally player houses might be released in GW2, sadly after more than 2 years nothing has been added.
I would personally love having my own house, and aswell guild hall for my characters..
But I’m sure Anet has scrapped this idéa and cancelled it like they usual does with great stuff..
