I logged in to casually do my Dailies. The “Protect the U.N.I.T. Golem” event in Brisban Wildlands rolled by, so I decided to join in for my Daily Events. Someone started shouting at me to let him die so the “Glint’s Challenge” would reset faster. (Part of this season’s Living Story, I assume? I haven’t done much of that yet).

I obliged, since events are a dime a dozen, and I walked away. I didn’t need this particular event for anything. But come on, ANet! Haven’t you learned your lesson yet about giving people incentive to fail events? What happened to that lofty aspiration of yours to make players glad to see other players on the map? Instead, you jam more and more of us together into each zone, and then create situations where we are at cross-purposes.

Please fix whatever “Glint’s Challenge” timing issue is dependent upon the U.N.I.T. dynamic event, and then STOP doing things that force players to be at odds with each other. It’s bad enough that my selection of a lower population world was rendered superfluous by the MegaServer, without also having to walk on eggshells around everyone I see as well.

I am quite certain there is not a single thing in the game called Glint’s Challenge. Nor would event completion/failure effect the reset time of instances.

I would say it was simply a troll. But I suppose taking a chance to complain about at ArenaNet was much more fun ^^

I’ve heard of Glint’s Challenge. In GW1.

Right. I am taking time out of my game to report an apparent issue because that is more fun than actually playing. (Dripping sarcasm).

Well, to be fair before going on and raging at the developers of the game it might be a good idea to actually check what is going on rather than assuming it is their fault.

He didn’t say Glint’s Challenge because that doesn’t exist. He probably said GIANT Challenge. During the escort part of that event Veteran Giants spawn and it’s the easiest way to get the Giant Killer achievement (they are vets not champions). Once the golem is out of the swamp area, no more Giants spawn, so the player asked you to let the golem die quickly to reset the event, so he reset and giant killing can continue.

Possibly.

It’s still a shame that there are places where people minding their own business are unwittingly (or not) interfering with other people. That is the crux of my post.
