Or no community at all, is this all happend after megaservers or was the community so rotten before them?

Anyway, I`ve just been robbed via mail, simply, send item, didnt recieved money back for it. Ehh… Why things like that NEVER ever happend to me in GW1? I am just wondering why A-net didnt create option like there is in WoW or TERA, where you can send item to player, but before he can grab it, he must pay certain amount of money, then you recieving money, and he can pick item. Why A-net care so much about those taxes from TP. This only making life harder, for both sides, cuz robbed player writing to support, it consuming his and theirs time, and I am sure this happening quite often. First time been robbed in GW2, on my first ever mail-trade there. Nice statistic… I hope, A-net will add this kind of option into mailing system, this may simply prevent many thefts. What you guys think about it?

Or you could have told said person to put it up on the TP for a certain price and you see that price and buy it?

Trade scamming in GW1 was very common. It was one of the reasons why player to player trading was removed in favor of the trading post.

You can report the player for scamming, you won’t get your stuff back but they will be banned if they do it regularly.

This was a risk you willing took when you opted to use the mail system as opposed the trading post. It is exactly for such reasons that Anet did not implement person to person trading in the first place – to reduce such scams

You can put in a support ticket, and they might help you, but that’s about all we can suggest.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

I think your ridiculous. You complain about getting ‘robbed’ because you used a risky method to sell your stuff, then QQ about taxes on the safest way to sell your goods in the game.

Not that easy, Vegeta. Items get bought up quickly at good prices on there. He would have to have perfect timing to get it.
I feel there needs to be a trade option where both parties agree before the transaction is complete or a private trade system in the trading post [maybe there is one.]
Even runescape….bloody runescape had better trading.

Kinda with Vegeta here. There is a safe, established method for selling and buying items where you cannot be robbed, and you chose an unsafe method.

It is unfortunate that someone took advantage of you, but you did bypass the safe method for item transfers (Trading Post).

And for the record, I was cheated a few times in GW1 myself with the old trade system, so I very much like the Trading Post in GW2 because I will not ever be cheated. That is worth a little tax on my money.

Easier said than done, really. Someone is always going to figure out a method to scam someone else. The Trading Post avoids every possibility of a scam, and acts as a reliable gold sink to boot.

Trading post is your scam free way to trade with people. If you try to trade with people via mail it’s your loss. I hope they ban/warn, w/e the guy who did this, but honestly it’s dumb to blame the car for not forcing you to wear the seat belts.

Why anet cares so much about the taxes? E-C-O-N-O-M-Y !
It’s so much easier to control the economy when there’s stable gold loss, the more people gets loot, the more they will be trading, the more gold will disappear from the game.

Funny how you mentioned TERA in this discussion, as it had the worst economy I’ve ever seen in my life in any game.

I doubt we will see one in this game. I don’t see why a player(s) couldn’t form a trade guild made up of a few people that build their reputation up as a 3rd party trader you both give your goods to, of course they would have some sort of system in place like tips, or a competitive charge to the TP tax.

I only trade via mail with people I know and trust: close friends, guildies, etc. We help each other out with less common materials for various purposes.

Player to Player trading has its issues, and would require a lot of anti-scam systems in place to ensure the trade works. Even then, people will still get scammed due to being careless.

Just make sure you report him. You won’t get your item back, but at least you can have the satisfaction of having him banned.

Lotro has it with mail C.O.D… receiver only get the item in mail after paying via the mail. but the main reason anet does not implement this is to curb gold selling via trade abuse…

Perhaps one way to do this is to compare the value of the item being traded (using TP data) for gold. If they’re within a reasonable percentage, the mail is sent. So, for instance, sending a rice ball for 1000g wouldn’t work.

The reasonable percentage would allow for some flexibility in pricing, if the seller wants to sell at a discount price. I know I would for friends.

C.O.D. would be a nice, optional feature to have. Optional allowing players to do a completely free trade with whatever price they choose (among friends, for instance), with C.O.D. for trading with strangers.

In Guild Wars 1 each party would accept their side of the trade and then both would have to complete the trade (after viewing what the other party was trading). Sounds perfect right? But it was flawed: there was a way in which scammers would quickly change the item their trading for a cheaper item with a similar name or sprite.

This, along with the amount of trade spam and the amount of time you had to use to stand around and trade an item, probably put the nail in the coffin.

I see the trade taxes in this way: if I’m selling a cheap item, 15% tax is negligible. If it’s an expensive item, 15% is fine because I’d pay that any day for a safe trade.

Also, if anet put in an official “safe” direct player-to-player trading system… would it not result in a split economy or two economies? There’d be competition between the TP and the direct trading system, which would cause an unbalance, right?

Pay the TP safety tax, or risk everything. Be wary of deals that look too good to be true.
