If you didn’t have a party in GW1, you could always hire a mercenary, so why not bring back this mechanic, but allow players to become mercenaries.

I have a lvl 80, and when I’m grinding in lvl 60 zone for materials, it gets kinda lonely, and my guess is that other low-lvl or mid-lvl players are feeling the same, so why not add a system (that is similar to LFG system), that allows you to search for a group, for events, dungeons, farming parties and such, and if you join a group your performance such as dealt damage, healing and such could give you extra karma, silver and xp if you sign up as a mercenary.

I for once would be glad to help anyone in my current farming zone, and with a good reward, it might motivate hi-lvl players to come down to low-lvl or mid-lvl zones and play with others. Also, they could get a small buff, limited only to mercenaries that would give them a small chance to get best crafting materials from drops, despite the level of the enemy, or maybe a bit higher chance to get better gear while working as mercenaries.

Interesting, i am not 100% with you but i got inspirited by the term “Mercenaries”.

What i suggest is to make a mercenaries party event, which any player can go to the unfinished heart quest giver to launch mercenary event, other players can access the mercenary job list anytime to find jobs, they can click the event and add themselves into the request player party as a mercanary. No matter the mercanaries finished the heart quest or not, the reward upon success will be a few coin (by %) and a new token “Mercenary trophy”. Which is able to exchange some mercenary chest (or some skin) from npc and get random loots like the black lion chest.

This way whoever got nothing to do, can browse this list and earn some money by finishing the “done” heart quest again by helping low lv players, and this way can encourage high lv players to going back to almost deserted low lv maps.
