Players stealing from guild bank
Guilds do give permission by way of rank.
We had the same issues about a month ago even double checked the permissions and that rank was still locked out of the area they took stuff from.
ArenaNet never involves itself in guild issues. You can submit a ticket, but it will not do much for you.
(However, if the person who stole from the guild bank did other things, like spamming or verbal abuse or somesuch, you can report them for that in-game.)
I had this issue with a member as well. Left the game. Came back. Took what he wanted from the section he had access to. Then ditched.
I’ve had people join, check the vault (since I allow all ranks to view it), ask about when they can access it, and then when they don’t get what they want right away, they leave.
As such, only a very strict few actually have access to the 2nd and third tiers of the vault (which is where the valuable stuff is kept). If someone needs something for legitimate purposes, all they need to do is ask. Everyone ‘squire’ or higher has free access to the first section, which is no big loss if someone clears that out. For the most part, my trust issues have served me well.
I am sorry that such has happened to you OP, but no Anet does not get involved in these types of matters. The best you can do is be more selective in who you allow which permissions.

People taking stuff from guild bank section without access isn’t a guild, but a feature issue.
with out permission
NOPE. Players without permission are incapable of removing anything from a bank. Some one in your guild must have given him permission.

It’s a guild issue because the OP is mistaken that the player didn’t have permission. If they were able to remove something, clearly they did.
What the OP means by ‘permission’ is that the ‘thief’ didn’t ASK THEM if he could take the stuff. He obviously had guild permissions via rank.
Just a bad choice of words.
Sorry, you’re SOL.
PvP modes are the “endgame” in all MMOs.
Stop failing at PvE, and fix WvW/SPvP. Thank you.
ANet will do nothing if you contact them. If they were able to take stuff out, it’s because their account had guild permissions to do so. Technically they did nothing wrong as they did what was allowed. ANet isn’t going to get into the morals of this as it’s impossible for them to tell without personally knowing the people involved.

I’ll second this. My guild also had this happen and ANet’s paraphrased response is that we are responsible for who we give access to the guild bank. The burden is upon us for guild issues not them.
They are right too. Why should they be responsible for what a horrible person does who we have chosen to associate ourselves with?

It’s unfortunate but pretty common, apparently. This was an issue in the first guild I joined. The second in command and his camp had an issue with the guild’s founder, so the former simply booted him. He’d lost hundreds of his own gold in the process.
OP, your guild is screwed. Sorry, but that is your Guild’s fault, the way it is set up. GB’s should have tabs that only officers and GL’s can add to – this way the important items will be stored there, not in a common bank tab.
Also, How does your guild recruit…..
1. Do you invite only? Not spam in main cities for members – these guilds have these issues.
2. An application process?
3. An interview process?
None of these prevents stuff like that from happening but you get a better idea about the person rather than just a random invite.
Best thing to do is remove their option to even view whats in the guild bank.
If they cant see the goodies, they wont be tempted.
But either way, fix your permissions.
Wait, so he stole your guild stuff, and hasn’t logged back in? Did he sell it then bounce? If he hasn’t logged back in, then whatever he took and sold is useless. Unless he has an alternate account, and transfered everything to THAT account, but was it worth the $50-$60 bucks? Probably not. Although it sucks, and I feel for you, but this guy just seems to be a feel pickles short of a barrel.
It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
Why do people allow non-ranked guildies access to thier guilds bank, it’s only an open invitation to just come take what you want. Good luck getting this turned around, but, I think your out of luck.

If he logged in, stole stuff then disappeared there is a strong possibility he was hacked by a gold seller who sold all the stuff, transferred the gold to another account and then was either banned for gold selling or abandoned that account to possibly use later if needed.
Or the person had his account hacked, and the hacker took whatever he could from your Guild bank. Which would be a matter of that person’s personal security issues, but not necessarily moral issues.
Still, anything lost from a Guild bank, no matter who is responsible, will not be replaced. Sorry for your loss.
You are out of luck.
This again :| you ppl have to learn how permissions work, sorry op but here all fault is yours i hope in the future you will learn to not trust every person from internet.
In all fairness to the OP and everyone else who has had guild stuff taken, this sort of thing is literally impossible to stop. People you knew for a long time and thought were trustworthy can get mad about something and do this. Accounts of trustworthy people can be hacked and the hackers steal guild stuff. The leader of the guild who is the only one with permissions might get hacked. It’s a shame that this happened and that they won’t get the stuff back but permissions only do so much and won’t stop this completely.

And what I’m saying is that they already gave him implicit permission to take what ever he wants by giving him guild permission via rank. If they wanted people to have to ask first, they shouldn’t give him permission via rank at all. They should have people ask and then manually dole out what they want themselves.
