I hope it’s ok if we wait for a break in the action to send any emails. I don’t mean using the exploit a while, I mean noting it down for reference and continuing our giddy exploration until we can tear ourselves away long enough to compose and send the email

Is there any use to submitting an in-game bug report on exploits or will that just not be seen fast enough?

And also a reminder about spoilers on the forum. Spoiler tags and spoiler free thread titles fall under the “considerate community” umbrella as well.

Sounds to me like you guys already know of some exploit bugs that wont be fixed at launch.

Not to point fingers, but if I have to I will, I have noticed (as have many others I’ve spoken too) a noticable increase in snarky, elitist, negative Map chat from what appears to be F2P and new players. Many of these players have generally worn their experience in their previous game (the big MMO that us GW2 players ran screaming from) on their sleeve like we should bow down and be impressed. If you need to keep an eye on the community, it is these new people that have come into the game with the expectation that a game without a holy trinity stinks, and without 10 levels of gear to grind for it must be a waste of their time.

Sorry for the mini rant, but the reason I’ve stayed with this game since launch is the community. PLEASE keep an eye on the droves of refugees from that other game that are bringing their negative baggage with them. Thanks!!

None of them are f2p. f2p guys can not use map chat. Those are all legit new accounts that will lose fifty bucks if they get banned.

Now I’m hoping that I find an exploit, so I can compose a limerick about it.

Er, I can understanding preventing exploits too keep a economical balance in the community.

But what about players that abuse weapon stow exploits in PvP like stowing Mesmer GS auto? Mesmers causing 12k instant shatters before their clones even load. It’s kinda hard to take this announcement seriously when in the ‘world series’ both teams abusing the lightning whip exploit.

I’ll only report it when it’s convenient for me, otherwise why even try?

You authorized bug exploits in the game ; now you forbid them. Will you authorize them again in 3 months ? I can’t take you seriously.

Yeah the event in Timberline Falls at Rankor Ruins Waypoint which prevents you from every completing the Treasure Hunter achievement.

What about people who used exploits?

I mean, if an exploit is going to be fixed, 100% someone have used it.

Is there any chance to find players who did it? and if it was about market or gold incrase, a way to remove em golds or directly a permaban ( cause it don’t happen to use more time an exploit. It’s your choice ) ?

What about individuals who abuse the LFG and Dungeon/Fractal systems and kick you out of groups right at the last boss so they can get their guild mate in for the credit of the completion of the dungeon/fractal? This happens all the time…doesn’t seem like anything has been done to halt this type of activity. I hope this is addressed in HoT.

It’s basically making sure we are on our best behavior when HoT goes live. Remember there will be people from the gaming press and youtube fame; coming in for their one time look at HoT. Also all those new players who are coming into GW2 for their very first time. Or perhaps a second time after taking a long break for some vets who left awhile ago.

I thought a nice interpretive dance might be in order…

Citadel trebs in WvW taking down tower walls has been an exploit for how long now? And it’s never been touched. It’s a huge, balance-breaking exploit in WvW that is used with impunity to make taking NW tower for anything beyond the PPT pointless.

Obviously this specific exploit will be a non-issue in 36 hours or so, but we all know there will be totally new exploits found in short order. Hopefully there won’t be any as insanely ridiculous as this one, but you’ve sent a really clear message that even if there is, it won’t be fixed. Presumably because WvW simply isn’t a priority.

Hey everyone! Just letting you know, in case you weren’t aware, Heart of Thorns is launching soon! With any new expansion there are bound to be a couple of things that are inevitably going to happen when the floodgates open.

Guild Wars 2 has the best community, it is known. Let’s keep it that way!

While everyone plays a little bit differently, keep in mind that you aren’t the only one out there. Keeping your chat and actions friendly allows everyone to have a great experience when playing together.

I just want to remind everyone that we will be monitoring for players that are causing issues for others. If you feel someone is stepping over the line, the report function in-game is the best tool at your disposal (right click the chat/player selection and select Report).

The last thing that we want to do is to have to put some people into timeout because they are making the game not enjoyable for others, but we will.

Exploits
Let’s talk about exploits. Exploits can be described as the abuse of a bug or unintended game design to gain an advantage over other players. For example, maybe that vendor is selling items for 1/100th of their sell value, or perhaps an escort event spawns an infinite number of instantly respawning loot piñatas when you cause the NPC to get stuck.

Exploits are bad news for everyone, and while we hope there won’t be any…ok I’ll just go with that.

We have a team ready to investigate issues and monitor activity, but our players our greatest asset when it comes to keeping Tyria a fair place.

I found an exploit but first…let me take a selfie.

Also I hope that I don’t get banned for submitting exploit. I’ve read so many posts on reddit for accounts being banned after submitting an exploit.

I like snarky replies, I really do. Though come on people, this is an honest post to remind everyone to play nice and that Anet will have all hands on deck to help us this weekend. This thread was a really good time to just say, “Thank you Chris, will do.” and leave it at that.

I really do hope the community takes them up on this offer – and that they fix the exploits in content such as fractals (both the ones that exist now – like the mia trin relog or stack = no port berkserker, necros on jade maw, and any new ones) and raids very quickly when it is brought to their attention. It takes away from fight difficulty and makes a joke of otherwise interesting content.

If I find anything, I’m definitely going to send a poem.

So if I find something I should 1) Report it 2) Watch for months as it is exploited and people reap the rewards 3) Feel like a fool when it is fixed and none of those people get banned or punished in any way

In the past i reported like 5-6 ppl for real exploit or really “stepping over the line” : result not a single reply, not a single action (they are still on my blacklist and since we can see blacklisted ppl, account are still active/used).
Nice communication, but action are way better imo

For all the people who have been talking about exploits here that Arenanet did nothing let me tell you the following story:
First of all ArenaNet is actually fighting exploits, even while building HoT. This could have been in smaller numbers, but you have to understand that it is really hard to handle players who stepped over the line, since you can’t just ban a player blindly, but have to investegate what actually happened. Talking about stepping over the line, what is the line? There is no certain line or rule about when something is an exploit and when it is not. Therefore there are people who said that the Maize Balm for example is an exploit, some didn’t think so.
Now to come at a final point, Chris’ statement about being friendly does not only apply when it comes to HoT, but also on the forums right now. There are a lot of people being very salty. If you have critiques about this topic, keep it civil instead of ragingly starting to blame them for WW2 or whatever.

For those of us who are not tech savvy with video streaming programs, will there be staff members who can quickly investigate cheaters in wvw using exploits like speed or teleport hacks for example? I have mailed GM Proheals several times because I never see him online, but I have never heard back so I dont know if anything was ever done, or if ever received the mails. Any advice for catching these jerks?

This will no longer be an issue in less than 24 hours. Fractals will be 1 Fractal only per Difficulty. If they kick you know half way through the Fractal for a Buddy, you have lost 10 Minutes top for the longer ones. They are still scum, but at least they don’t take 1 hour of your lifetime away from you.

I agree on the Mai Trin Relog Stuff. but that can be circumvented if you don’t let Ellen die. I do that everytime to urinate in the cereal Bowl of those Cheapskates that can only beat Mai if they relog over and over.

The Berserker does not seem to be an exploit to me. Why should he teleport to someone if everyone is in Melee Range of him?

Previous karma, snowflake exploit incidents and now this warning from Cleary should serve as all the warning exploiters deserve to get. Anyone caught deserve a hard, permaban straight away to deter such behaviour further and set examples.

That being said, I hope HoT launch goes smooth for you guys and that there’s few exploitable bugs in there!

• By using common sense? (Hey i get 500 Karma for this “kill 10 Rats Event”, the Vendor sells RARE Weapons for 2 Karma. It is totally intended that i can buy 250 straight away).

• By double checking with other Vendors? (Hey, this T3 Vendor sells his Weapons for 2 Karma, the T2 Vendor wants 1000 Karma and the T1 guy 500, they are totally scamming me, i go to my trustworthy 2 Karma T3 Vendor).

If a vendor is selling weapons for 63,000 karma, but one is 63 karma, then you might suspect that the one for 63 karma is not right.

I’ll remember to play nice when those raid bosses show up.

If I wanted to work as a QA Tester I would change my job
I’m not going to run around and search for bugs after launch. I’ll however report any bugs I encounter during my normal play session. And about that “common sense” – it doesn’t always work on things we encounter for the first time.

I’m just willing for someone to submit a selfie of themselves exploiting something.
