Playing on Linux.
Yeah, they’re not making a Linux version. The mac version’s been in beta for 1.5 years+. If they can’t get a mac version out, why would they even begin on a Linux version?
GW2 can be run on Linux through WINE, although I havn’t personally tested it. This wiki entry talks about running GW2 on Linux

Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
Played on Linux for a few months (ubuntu + wine) on an old laptop and had no issues, it ran comparatively with windows 7 on the same machine.
Yes, many play on Linux.
Some Linux discussion is included here:

(Ignore the thread title.)
Some notes:
- The game might not run well on PlayOnLinux, as I think it lacks CSMT.
- ATI cards do not have the best support in Linux.
- The game is CPU-bound: 3-core@4GHz will do better than 6-core@3GHz.

The Mac version is just using Wine, so it would be identical to a “Linux version”, since we currently play the game in Linux using Wine. :P
The difference is official support can result in more bugs being fixed.
I’m usually really sweet… but this an internet forum and you know how it has to be.

For me in WvW and Lions Arch the Wine version is unplayable. The FPS drops constantly.

Do you have Character Model Limit set to Lowest?
What is your system like?
Are you using a Wine version with the CSMT patches (50-100% more FPS)?
Are your graphics drivers updated?
Do you have NVIDIA threaded optimizations enabled?

I’ve run it on ubuntu 13.04. However, and I’m assuming it has to do with my nvidia card, there was a wierd “fog of war” effect where everything beyond a certain range looked foggy. But aside from that it ran well, didn’t have any FPS drop that some people were having.

Guild Wars 2 runs awful on my system, I lucky if I get above 20fps.
When I used Windows 7 I had >60fps on a regular basis and I enjoyed playing this game.
Here are some of my stats:
Lubuntu 13.10 64 bit
8GB RAM
Intel Core i7
ATI Radeon HD5770 with 1GB RAM
WD Passport external 1TB hard drive
If only I could convince some major shareholders to attend Microsoft’s shareholder meeting and demand that Microsoft start selling retail Windows 7 licenses again, what I wonderful world this would be.
