Ok. I understand that the Mordrem Guard event is broken. I understand that you aren’t getting loot. This isn’t specifically about this event. But I have an opinion that I feel needs to be expressed.
I feel like every time there is a living world update, the community decides to take to the forums and share their collective disgust. Instead of saying ‘Wow Anet! Thank you for updating your game despite being neck deep in an expac! Although this was very kind of you, I have a bit of constructive criticism.’ NOPE. Instead, most of this forum is overrun with ‘AHHH I CAN’T GET LOOT’ ‘ANET FIX YOUR KITTENING GAME’ ‘WHY DO I EVEN PLAY’ and other tasteful things like that. There’s a sense of entitlement in this community (ahem prepurchase ahem) that I really don’t like. I don’t care how much of a ‘veteran’ you are. I don’t care how much you ‘deserve’ this.
Now, I realize that there are some people who actually appreciate what the company is doing for them and their game. But I feel like these people are few and far between. So I propose a small PSA.
PSA: Arenanet is a company with real actual people behind it. They are currently developing an expansion for you to play. They have even pushed a deadline for the release date. And despite all this, they are still putting out content for their players. Look at the game you’re playing. It gets semi-regular content updates, and it’s getting an expansion after only 3 years on the market. If you want to complain, please think before you type.

This was not meant to offend anybody in any way. It was not directed at the people in the forums, rather the attitude. Thank you, that is all.

I agree with that. Mostly this is just a rant about the toxic nature of the forums as of late.

its not only that, while I agree they were neck deep in an expansion, its pretty much finished by now, and the first bit of new content we have gotten in ages simply does not work. while the anger is not being directed the right way. I can most definitely see where its coming from.

semi regular content you say when was the last update with content pvp lunar festival 7 months ago?

Maybe, but it doesn’t excuse people from acting like spoiled children just because they don’t get exactly the response they want, when they want it, in the place they want it.

Sadly, it reminds me of little kids that start screaming “Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!” at their mom who’s on the phone.

Thing is Anet is doing crunch for HoT release, and they have already stated that they are looking at a fix. Ppl should be happy we get anything new at all during this time period, of course there are going to be bugs.

Just looking at all the drama makes me sad.

this is a general rule of thumb. negative comments are always more outspoken than positive ones, because when things are good, people are playing the game, not sitting on forums waiting for a fix because they don’t know what else to do.

and on the flip side to your argument – why did Anet advertise this as being a “good time to be in a guild”? there’s literally no guild involvement in this event.

what happened is simple Anet gave players hope. new content, new rewards, something to keep people entertained. then the content came, was nothing near what was described, and that hope was taken away – of course people are going to be angry. (and i doubt the declining quality of the anniversary sale has helped people maintain positive attitudes).

the simple truth is, Anet can do a lot of things that many in the game would love, but they simply don’t. so if people aren’t as happy or polite, maybe that’s something to consider.

also, this event was waaaaay over-hyped. even ignoring the bug it’s left wanting by a simple comparison to Scarlet’s invasions.
