Please Arenanet! We want capes !
they obviously know how to make capes if they want to, they are probably just saving it to be legendary backpieces or something
I like your enthusiasm and determination.
I’d be pleasantly surprised if they brought back capes with the expansion and guild halls. I kinda hope they do. Preferably “flowy” capes. Not a fan of the stiff, dull ones.
Yes, but it have been 3 years already ! They create all kind of backpieces in the meantime, starting with fracs until now with the wings. But none are capes ! And I think they refused to do it once, because of some asura logic(I think), that a cape might be in the way while fighting. I mean, aren’t all backpieces kind of in the way when fighting ?
I can live without it, capes do not add anything of real value to the game.
If they eventually do then that is great, but I can see it as being nearly impossible to implement. With the current variety of races, the addition of an extreme variety of armours and the fact that your character has so much more mobility compared to your Guild Wars 1 character I see the work involved for such little pay off being nearly pointless, as no doubt Arena Net also do. Unsightly clipping would almost be a certainty, possibly so much so that such an eyesore would detract from this beautiful game far too much.
I say Arena Nets time and effort are best spent in other areas of the game where good results are far more likely to be accomplished. And lets not forget we already have a decent and more diverse backpack system.
It’s just not gonna happen.. This game has a meager number of emotes, can’t sit in seats, have have added very few sets of real armor to the game… They don’t really care about this stuff.
" do not add anything of real value":
Styles are everything. People either go pvp/wvw or farm for a certain style. Because cape is a new kind of style in gw2, it does have some value.
“Variety of races”:
Yes gw2 do have a lot of races, but doesn’t other games have it too ? They all managed to make capes, so it should be able for arenanet to do it also! Nothing is impossible!
“variety of armours”: Same reason as above ! And a possible solution is to make the top part of the cape to your lower back static with low animation. Then make the lower part a bit “flowy”.
And like I already said, there is really a high amount of clipping already !
And as for where anet should spent their time on:
Do you like the outfits they spent their time on ? Most of these outfits didn’t sold well at all, except for a few(wedding).
They have a set amount of members doing a certain kind of work, and the part that makes new styles is what I am refering to. Give capes a chance !
If you don’t want it, then fine, I don’t want all kind of outfits either, because I like to style my own set of gear. But it doesn’t hurt to have one, does it ?
Not going to happen.
And besides, they more or less have one, but not as a backpiece, but as an outfit.
Where is the problem in making this one as backpiece ?
2015, the cape strikes again!

Neither do the many new armor and weapon skins they keep putting out every few months yet they continue to do so.

This same argument can be made for every armor skin that is already in the game and yet they go to the effort of making them work on every race and even making some of them look different for each race [Wedding Outfit]. And who cares about clipping. There is already loads of clipping in the game.

It’s not diverse because it’s lacking capes.
Three years, if they could they would have done so already, get the hint guys.
Please Arenanet! We don’t want capes !
Tell them to fix the hairs first when wearing hats/helmets/crowns…
If other game can do it,even free to play MMORPGs, I just don’t understand why ARENAnet can’t do it?
OP, who is this “we”?
The entire GW2 playerbase?
You and your guildies?
…or just you?
I certainly don’t recall wanting capes, so you’re not speaking about me.

I agree, Please OP don’t pretend to voice my opinion for me, I for one certainly do not want capes in this game.
May our BL break all foes. Fear our babou!

I think the Incridibles covered why capes are a bad idea. They get caught in things and then you die.

Colin actually discussed this in an interview almost two years ago, simply put it’s because long flowing capes are a lot more complex than they anticipated, they do have people working on their free time, but they would rather invest official company time into other projects like the Living Story.
