Please Clarify: Gifts of Battle & War
Yep, new legendaries are going to require players to pvp and wvw.
Or, you know, gold.
I see no problem with gifts requiring you to do all game modes. It is a Legendary afterall, it should have been this way from the beginning.
If you don’t want to do these other modes then yes, you are at the mercy of the TP. I guess making these buyable on TP was to keep PvE only people happy. Added bonus for all mode gamers.

This gift will continue to require Icy Runestones and a gift comprised of various materials, but it will also require a new Gift of the Mists…
The Gift of the Mists is where you will find the Gift of Battle, which is purchased for Badges of Honor and a special material crafted of ascended and fractal materials; the Gift of Glory, purchased with the new tradable material Shards of Glory that only comes from Player vs. Player reward tracks; and the Gift of War, purchased with a new tradeable material, Memories of Battle, that only comes from playing World vs. World.
If I am understanding this correctly, crafting any of the new Legendary weapons will either require PvP and/or WvW, or spending gold at the TP to buy the materials to make them?
In other words if you PvE only you either have to start doing PvP/WvW, or be completely at the market mercy of those who do?
ETA: I am aware that the existing Legendaries already need PvP/WvW… I’m just not entirely sure that being dependant on the marketplace is the best way to be inclusive of PvE
Its about time they did something of the sort, but I am greatly disappointed they made these tradable. These are supposed to be legendaries, that reflect players accomplishments. How is making these things tradable going to do that ?
Also, as the poster above me mentioned, legendaries should reflect mastery of the game as a whole, anyone that can’t achieve even simple benchmarks should never have had one in the 1st place.
Of course, this may only be part of the new legendaries temporarily. Legendaries used to require wvw map completions but now they don’t, so they could always remove this requirement in the future.

But it isn’t dependant on the marketplace in any way…. you can go earn those yourself and completely ignore the market. Buying the shards is just an optional way to bypass the intended method. Really if you think about it, this way is actually better for PvE players because they have a non-pvp alternative.

They’ll be removing the dungeon tokens from the legendaries and replace ’m with something new.
PvP tracks gave acces to these dungeon tokens as well.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
