Please Fix Double Loading
Its funny how the golem at the bottom can sense you having the ticket but the ship cannot. My main complaint is when you log out of a character on the ship you have to load onto the ship just to be kicked to the ground which you have to load for again.
The Royal Terrace has the same problem but it is not as bad because it does not require a loading screen.

Loading screens in general are becoming a burden in this game. There are times when I find myself wondering if the client has simply frozen/crashed. If it had always been this way, it would be easy to blame the hardware, but this is something that has gotten steadily worse over the past 7 or 8 months. Load times are just unacceptable now. Throw that in with the double-load you get when using the air ship, and it’s a matter of a couple minutes before I can even start playing.

Add -mapLoadInfo to your Gw2 shortcut to see actual progress.
Target: “X:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -mapLoadInfo

+1, this is extremely annoing… Why is there a need for a loading screen if you end up at the same map… Right below where u are standing… Lets get some Q&A going plz.
Load times used to be ok for me, but with this last patch, every screen I get loads twice. I will go from Queensdale to Lornar’s and the loading screen does it’s thing, then it looks like it starts to materialize, but nope… it flickers once and then back to loading screen.
I know good and well I was one of the first ones into LA on a particular day, and every time I will get an overflow with 4 other people… What’s up with that?
My load times weren’t so bad back when I started playing last year. Zones usually took about 20 seconds or so. The last few patches have easily doubled my load times.
“its ur hard driev lol”
No, it’s not. Same 7200rpm drive, the files never moved. -_-

But how much data is being loaded has increased over the year. Loading into a zerg for example will greatly increase your load times.
In some cases, which I don’t think applies any more, your local data file can become bloated, multiplying your load times. This was reported quite a while ago, where
%appdata%/Guild Wars 2/local.dat
would become hundreds of megabytes, constantly increasing over time.

Hard drive is running just fine. Doesn’t take any longer to load any other games or programs that I use. Only performance with GW2 has gone down hill over the last half year or so. Try again.

Yep it’s not the hard drive it’s the game. I have noticed it varies as well depending on where I am guesting and if a major event is going to start. The busy servers have a much longer load time. On the side, as far as the Air ship is concerned it should put you back where you came from (e.g. Vigil) not the other camp.
BTW have you tried defragging your gw2 data file and exe?

That’s my point. With each patch, the data is getting more and more bloated. Sometimes it takes 1-2 minutes for my MENU textures to load in.

For what it’s worth: My drive is a 7200rpm Hitachi. The GW2 dat file is unfragmented. I know only a small amount about drives. Currently HD Tune shows an average 98.3mb/sec transfer rate with a 14.1access time. In that environment, which has been persistant most likely since I got the computer, Divinity’s Reach loaded in at just under 1minute when I tested just now.

Several patches ago (pre-wintersday) Divinity’s Reach (bank waypoint) started taking nearly a full minute to load into and then I was welcomed with invisible ground and walls and a fully transparent UI for an additional 30 seconds before they loaded properly. They broke DR, which is a shame as I love that place.
I’ve since started to use Rata Sum’s Accountancy Waypoint as my home base and it loads up in 8-12 seconds with an additional 5 for the transparent UI to fill in.

I’ve seen the transparent UI issue all over since about 2 patches back. Not only that but upon loading places like LA (when I get into main) sometimes my ground targeting symbol won’t show up for a good minute. Fortunately the skills still work.
What I don’t understand is that even the personal story cutscenes sometimes stutter when there is heavy net traffic. Why? Shouldn’t that simply be on your hard disk? The game could do with some optimizing… Same when loading e.g. WvW: first part of the loading screen, then i see myself standing in the middle of the map, loading screen comes back, then i’m at the starting point. Hmmm…
Marush Ifri, Noreena Gorun, Arsaname, Desra Ele…

Yeah I know that feeling, usually my ISP though.
My main complaint is when you log out of a character on the ship you have to load onto the ship just to be kicked to the ground which you have to load for again.
Actually I think the Airship is a completely different map/instance, for overflow purposes I’m guessing, could potentially be very crowded up there. Too bad they couldn’t get a The Glory of Tyria sized airship.

So I’m not the only one having this issue. This started happening a few patches ago, and it’s pretty annoying. The UI and ground targeting take very long to load sometimes. And often some explorables will load with invisible props that have not yet loaded.
It clearly has nothing to do with our harddisk. I never had this problem before in GW2. They messed with the loading, and it works worse now than it did on launch.

They have all but admitted that it’s their own hardware at fault.

I have an SSD, load times still getting pretty long
All I can say is – another nail in the coffin Anet is building.
It really is time that Anet put away the updates/content for a while and spend all their time with 100% of the staff working on the game itself, optimise it and address many of the persistant problems and short comings, some of which have been there since day 1.
