Please Make It Possible To Choose Dailies
Please make is possible for a player to choose if they want to do HoT or regular dailies. Not all of us who own HoT have had the time to fully explore it, making some content inaccessible (including, again, today, and pretty much every day since the update went live). Some of us would also prefer to be able to do dailies with friends who don’t own HoT at all yet. It’s a social thing.
Thanks.
Agreed. 3 of the last 4 have been further into HoT than I can reach yet. More flexibility, please.

You have a choice to do 3 out of 12 dailies. 3 different modes with 4 each. As for myself I end up doing a mixture of WvW and PvE and usually I end up doing more than the 3 needed for the AP just by playing the game.
Not everyone plays PvP or WvW. Just randomly deciding that since someone owns HoT they should now be forced to invest a lot more time before they can once again fully do dailies is not in the interest of all players. Neither is severing links people have with friends who may not yet own HoT.
My point is simple: Let players choose what they want to do. This would not impact anyone who wants to do dailies other than PvE. You can still do that as you choose. Choice. It’s a beautiful thing.
not doing dailies is a viable choice. you might even find yourself playing the game for fun rather than dailies

Maybe some of us find the dailies fun. What say you now, oh wise one?

I stopped doing dailies since the daily login stuff came in and the dailies changed to more specific things. I just wasn’t interested in going out of my way for something I didn’t need.
I still don’t do dailies. doesn’t matter how much gold is attached. it means I play the way I want and have fun doing it, instead of concentrating on a list.

I enjoy dailies. It’s social time. When a game that is meant to be social makes it hard to be so, that seems contrary to its mission statement.
I think the Dailies are fine, as are (as is?).
Please spend future Dev resources and time creating new content, rather than more time re-iterating current content.
Thank you in advance. =)
I can’t think of a single daily which would cause problems for players who just got HoT/didn’t play much HoT yet.
Sanctum Scramble which is daily today? If it isn’t fixed yet, a mesmer can portal you in without you having to do the story. Maybe events in later maps (Tangled Depths)? Just run through the first maps quick, ignoring everything on your way, maybe taking some waypoints and node along.
Dailies are meant to make people poke at various content from how it feels to me, besides the obvious “log in every day and do stuff for at least a few minutes” and that’s what they’re doing fine. No need for changes, really.
You appear to be missing the point. The current implementation is somewhat hamfisted, with the “everyone who owns HoT has of course fully explored the area” assumption causing problems. Besides, after an update is the best time to mention issues like this. They expect to hear from us.

What daily expects you to have that done?
Not really sure what you’re asking, since my original post makes it clear:

I just did today’s dailies …. did 3 from PvE and one in WvW and not one from HoT and I did them all in about 15 mins.
I agree with the original poster. Why not have HoT dailies as a different tab, like when they do the holidays. Then you could chose to do either PVE or HoT dailies as you want.
You don’t need to have HoT “fully explored” to do the adventures or really any of the HoT dailies. Just run to the relevant area.
This is a wholly unnecessary change. It doesn’t seem worth the dev time in the slightest.

no thanks, i am not in favor of making dailies even easier than they already are
some things were already not put into rotation out of fear of people finding them too difficult.
you already have 12 dailys to choose from

So if you happened to have a daily in a Tyria zone you didn’t explore, you would be asking for a custom set of daily quests for each player based on which maps they already have? As for the people who don’t own the expansion… well, the game is free, but someone is running a businness. And i’m pretty sure the developers aren’t paid in peanuts.
I hope you’ll understand your request doesn’t make any sense.
Besides, you have 12 quests to choose from; it’s plenty considering you need 3, and none of them is mandatory.
The question is: Why not?
Dev time to alter an algorithm. Are you kidding?

Today’s daily requires you to have the correct mastery unlocked and that takes millions of XP. Just offer a greater variety of dailies and let us play the ones we want.

But you still haven’t presented where any undue difficulty is. You prefer to do PvE dailies of which there are 4. You can do 3 of those easily, while 1 you cannot yet do. You need to get 3 done. Where is the real problem you’re facing?
The wiki page for Daily achievements lists the low-level achievements. Is it still possible for level 80 accounts to complete those? If so, that could increase the possibility of doing all non-HoT PvE dailies.

I wondered that. My lowest toon is now in the 20s so those alternative stopped working at some point but I there is a decent chance they would work if I had a lower level toon.

It’s not a problem m8. It’s just that I now do fewer dailies. Is that what the devs wanted? Is that what you want? Why would you want me to have fewer choices?
On a previous day I was given events in TD – a map which I had never been to and an adventure which was not available due to the meta being active.
More choice = more inclusive.
We’re not talking about Tyria here, and we’re not talking about PvP or WvW. At issue is simply the fact that if someone owns HoT, they are required to do HoT PvE dailies, and cannot choose to do regular PvE dailies. Whether or not any of their friends with whom they play own HoT, or they have explored the relevant areas. Investment in time and xp for the often very specific HoT requirements can be substantial, and “just running somewhere quickly” is not necessarily possible. Just because you (several commenters above fit this) don’t like the idea does not mean it’s not a good idea.
Newsflash: People who don’t own HoT still run the same, regular dailies as before the Spring Update. Just let us pick which we want to do. Thanks.

I’m surprised to find that I am in agreement. As much as I think more choice is better, ANet has done an awful lot of iteration on existing systems. They really need to focus more on a sustainable release cadence that regularly puts new stuff to do in the game.
I find the latest dailies OK. There’s always an events one, which I rarely do. There’s always a gathering one, which I always do. There’s always a PvE “other” (vista, activity, etc.), which I do about half the time. For the rest, I usually jump into WvW and do “tasks” like Big Spender, Guards, Land Claimer, Camps, Caravans, Monuments, or Vet Creature. This is not terrible for me, and seldom takes very long.
I would not be opposed to more choice, but there are times when the better is the enemy of the good.

More choices are always nice to have but as others have mentioned there are already a ton of daily choices and I just don’t feel it is worth developer energy to make any more changes to dailies at this time.
Not saying this is the case for the OP, but a lot of people have a very stubborn mindset about refusing to do WvW dailies just because they are PvE only. Close to half of all WvW dailies are the same as the PvE ones. One involves talking to an npc and spending badges. One involves killing a dolyak npc. Another involves killing 5 veteran npcs. Another is capturing a monument that is guarded by…npcs. A lot of these WvW dailies are 2 minutes or less to complete and play out just like any PvE daily would. Most can be done from the relative safety of the northern part of your home borderlands. If you go at reset time there will be other players running around going after those dailies as well that you can use as meat shields should evil enemy players come about.
I myself pretty much stick to PvE content but I never balk at the chance for a quick and easy WvW daily. More PvE daily options are nice, but are not needed at all.
The last couple of days the dailies have been much more central Tyria based. Maybe they tweaked them or maybe it’s the roll of the dice. The spend badges WvW one is also now on my list, at least until I run out of badges (but WvW is not PvE).
I think they should totally do away with dailies and just let us pick the rewards we want.

Well why not do the dailies for fun then? Is it hard to get to? Then do your best to get there. Point with dailies imo is so that you can explore and do stuff that are out of your “comfort zone”.

I started playing PvP because it was normally quicker to play a match to get the dailies done. As I normally find PvE dailies to fall to ways, super quick, or all day long.

You can already choose between PvE dailies, WvW dailies, PvP dailies, Dungeon dailies, Fractal dailies, JP dailies. And you still can not find 3 to finish?
I think you are missing the point of why dailies exist. It is not simply to give everyone extra 2g for logging into the game, but to push players try out new parts of the game they have not yet discovered. Maybe the joined WvW first time to finish daily there, they could very well fell in love with it. Maybe they do not even know JP exist, but now there is daily to point it out.
Say your character was somewhere in the ballpark of level 75. You’ve never ventured out of Ascalon and the Shiverpeaks. Suppose today’s daily achievements happen to be Great Jungle Worm, Kryta Miner, sparkfly events, and maguuma jungle Vista. Ok you have no waypoints and have never been to any of those zones. Prior to the last patch anyone complaining about that situation would be told tough luck, go explore. Now the patch has offered jumping puzzles, world dungeons, and HoT zones. Go explore the newer zones. By definition an achievement is something that takes effort or skill to complete. Plus you now get 2g for completing 3 daily. This should be enough incentive to step outside your comfort zone.
