Until you fix all these Skill point bugs!, swapping servers and then swapping back is often the only way to get some skill points, for instance there were TWO bugged in mount maelstorm alone. now i cant play with my m8 later because of this restriction.

This restriction was going to happen, it has been abused in WvW and PvE for node farming. It’s just a day, farm some karma and gold or something while you wait.

+1. There’s no knowing if on the server you’re transferring to the skill point you’re trying to get is bugged or not, so you might wind up stuck on another server and without getting the skill point.

yea it is only a day true, but there are ALOT of bugged skill points out there as for the node farming Anet has openly said that’s ok and not an exploit (i don’t do it myself im too busy actually PLAYING the game) but still.

Has made getting 100% map clears more difficult too. Some servers can’t get control of areas in WvW so players are left unable to get completed. Before, they could jump on a server that might have had control of the area, gotten the clear and gone back home.

I bought a bunch of junk gear and raced to the spots I needed. If I got killed, I didn’t care cause I was tossing the junk anyway and had no intention of repairing the stuff. Could go streaking too, so as to avoid repair costs.

It is odd though that WvW requires clearing for a PvE achievement. Queue times are already bad. Requiring players to jump in there and not contribute (as I did for those final spots) seems… unwise.

It’s not just map completion—there’s STILL no guest feature to play with friends on other servers, and putting a cooldown on server transfers means I can’t play with my friends anymore.

This is a really dumb move.

To get the Orrian Shield and sword SP in the Straits of Devestation west of the Balthazar statue, Have a guardian use the Staff skill Line of Warding on it causing it to trip and become hostile.

That’s how I got it work.

It’s not just map completion—there’s STILL no guest feature to play with friends on other servers, and putting a cooldown on server transfers means I can’t play with my friends anymore.

This is a really dumb move.

Shouldn’t you be on the server with all your friends? Can’t you coordinate a common server?

I understand your frustration. However, the situation in WvW was running rampant…

If they remove the CD, they should not allow transfered accounts to participate in the current WvW cycle.

Please remove free transfers period and close off the full servers. The skill points are annoying me as well and are preventing me from world completion atm, but they will be fixed. They’ve fixed quite a few already.

Farming nodes by swapping servers doesn’t screw up the economy, playing around with TP to gain profit is screwing up the economy.

And no don’t remove free transfers and close off full servers, I like free server transfers because I’m dissatisfied with the current server I’m on so I’m hopping around once a day trying to find one I like.

On second thought, you’re right…it doesn’t really screw up the economy. We should let them use free transfer to exploit getting tier 6 mets so that you can server hop.

Where do you see the exploit in this? Anet already said “it’s not an exploit” as someone pointed out earlier not to mention with this “one day transfer” they can go ahead and change servers to farm the same node again if they please it’s the same as running around the map looking for various nodes except changing servers is only quicker and easier. But now we have the “One Day Free Transfer” in place which makes it less productive.

There is a fine line between an exploit and abusing game mechanics for profit. Yes it’s not an exploit only because server transfers were never meant to be free and with no cool down. That’s the only reason you guys aren’t banned for doing it.

They let people do it to settle server populations after launch and let people get coordinated with their friends/families/guilds on appropriate servers. Not so you guys could make kitten tons of gold farming orichalcum ore.

Hence the 24 hour cool down. Which eventually (probably within 2-3 weeks) you’re going to have to pay to transfer servers and it will have a cool down of one week, as was intended before the game launched. They are probably just waiting for the guesting feature first.

As a side note – did anyone notice how the last few days before they added in the 24 hour cool down the price of orichalcum ore was around 2s? As soon as the cool down was turned on the price shot straight back up to 3s. I WONDER WHY.

Can also farm via alts. The more players get alts to 80, the more tier 6 mats will hit the market. If we base the economy off items rather than coin (as most MMOs do and their economies fall to garbage where only the life-less can afford the stuff); then it’s already screwed.

Not worried really though; they hired an economist this time around which may help in combating such a kitten system where only a few can afford to play.

Didn’t I read they locked it off due to exploits in WvW though? Had nothing to do with the economy… or was I seeing things?

No don’t change the timer so players can’t ABUSE the transfer system. They will MAKE UP all kinds of excuses why they should be able to do it but of course we all know the real reason.

FYI I never even knew you could server transfer to farm the same node or to get unbroken skill points until I read this thread. As to answer your question as to why Orichalcum went up in value can be more than one reason. The server cool down can be one of the reasons, but there could be another.
