Please STOP ninja patching
Huh, I recently got a message about a new build and that my game will restart in an hour… No, 55 minutes now.
They did actually give a warning.
“New build available. Client will restart in 3 minutes”

I sure did not get any. Maybe I logged off right when they send it. But still it’s frustrating not being able to join a party for a stupid discount. Not funny, really.
3 min warning dosnt help much if your in a dungeon or fractal :P

If you are in an instance, the grace period is 3 hours. Open world is 3 minutes.
Ok fine ill be picky, dosnt help if you enter a dungeon 30 mins before patch :p
…seriously, ninja-patching to add new shop offers?
Remember, remember, 15th of November
I only got a 3 minute warning. If that’d hit me during the escort mission I’d just finished I’d have been absolutely livid.
I don’t mind ninja patching if it’s to fix something game breaking, but come on bag slots and bank tabs are 20% off in the Gem Store through February 26.
REALLY LOL
Heavens Rage
I dont mind it at all they gacve a 3 hour warning if in a dungeon or other instance thats plenty in most cases..
Tis only what you can do for all
I’ve had them hit right at the end of a long dragon battle. Oh well.. it happens.
But you do get a 3 hour warning when in a dungeon or story instance. This gives you time to finish the instance before updating. Once you leave the instance, you are immediately updated.
You should have at least received the Your Game Will Restart in 3 Hours notification. It IS a little deceiving, but chalk it up as lesson learned.
If you didn’t receive the notification at all, that is a bug.
Perhaps you should pay attention. they give a 3 hour warning if you are in dungeon lol….that’s hardly a ninja patch.
You should play other mmos that shut down the actual server for updates and maintenance and give a 15 minute warning no matter what your doing and they stay down for hours.
I don’t think you realize how nice GW2 maintenance really is.
If you were in fractals for 3 hours I feel bad for you.

Not 3 hours but a good hour and a half. Of course as I mentioned I usually get the messages warning about patches, but not this time. That’s why I am frustrated, and even more when it was only for a gem shop update
It’s better than most mmo’s weekly or daily maintenance downtime.
hah I just bought one a couple days ago, what a world :P
Having to log off and being able to log right back in is hardly a hardship on any of us. They provide quick minor restarts like this in lieu of having longer periods of downtime where I am sure others would be equally as irritated. Also just because you think this is a useless update does not mean you speak for everyone, and while I appreciate your opinion it is not one I share.
They can’t please everyone and this seems to be a fairly unobtrusive way to keep the game updated and running smoothly.

Bingo!
Agreed. It’s incredibly annoying.

Are you referring to MMOs that actually try to patch bugs that have been in their game since beta?
Hi everyone,
As stated above, instances are given a 3 hour grace period, while open world has 3 minutes. We are sorry that you couldn’t log in back to the fractals run, but we would like you all to understand that the team can’t have every possible scenario in mind while deploying a patch – some way or the other, its almost 100% sure the patch will interrupt a quest or some other important event.
As stated, we understand your frustration, no one likes getting kicked in the middle of an important quest or an instance, and we will forward your concerns to the team.
We thank you all for your feedback and opinions. We are closing this thread to prevent frustration to lead to flaming or derailing.
Thanks for your understanding.
