Please add end game raiding (10-20 mans)
End game does not necessarily equate to instanced raids for all people.
I’m sorry but this game is too amazing to not have any endgame content.
Fractals and playing dress up isnt end game content.
The game was great, until I hit 80….now its boring, nothing to do.
I love crafting in any mmo, I usually horde mats and such. GW2 theres no reason to, why waste my time when all crafting is for is the nicest gear, but there is no reason to have it unless you want to run a 5-man fractal (5 MAN!?, might as well call it an expert dungeon)
There are too many games out there that have everything gw2 has and much more.
Devs need to figure out a way to keep people engaged at 80, fractals and playing barbie dress up is not it.
WE NEED RAIDS!
As long as Agony Resistance is the way you progress, I’m okay with it. I don’t want to be able to come back to Arah in Tier 76 gear and one shot all the enemies. IMO Agony Resistance is a good balance between grinding for stats and a lack of stat grind.
So lets talk about “end game”.
All I know is everything in this game can be done pre 80.
Besides 2 dungeons and fractals.
So what does end game mean to you….sitting around the portal telling jokes about bacon and chuck norris on chat?
OMG bro this is like me typing yes dress up game is no end game and yes this is AMASSING game and can be much better then it is now it got so much potential raids are first step into going there
Either way, however you feel this game lacks endgame content. It would make this game the best but now it falls short.
Get bored at 80, uninstall, check forum to see if devs make progress…. or wait another year for a halloween mask…lmao.

You only need 70 Agony resistance at 50. All u really need it a full ascended, I am sure alot of the true gamer already meet the requirement.
I would be fine with raids as long as there was no gear stat increase. Ascended gear already kittened me off enough.
LvL 50 fract is easier then lvl49 if you have 70agony and give same rewards yeah game need more lvl80 endgame, like raid or HC dungeons or even open world PvP server
this game does have end game its called WvW a well geared player can have way way too much fun there
this game does have end game its called WvW a well geared player can have way way too much fun there
^^This. WvW is fantastic End Game content. All aspects of it. Its in need of some tweaks but this is far better than any end game raids I have ever done in any MMO I have ever played.
Guild Missions allow you to do raids with parties of whatever size you want.
Also, Teq is a coordinated raid.
And lets not forget the 120-ish man raid that is Triple Trouble.
Warrior – The New Burninator! Strongbad would be so proud!
Guardian – Burn for you, heal for me, block for me and uh…sorry Im all out of gifts.

Perfect timing, Chris should be starting the Raiding CDI tomorrow.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/CDI-Guilds-Guild-Halls/page/31#post4506461
Agreed.
Ok so I am rather busy today so I will get us moving onto Raiding tomorrow or Friday.
i do apologies but I have been quite busy, has anyone counted up our priority order? If not I will get it done.
Chris
I am sure alot of the true gamer already meet the requirement.
So someone that plays differently than you do is not a “true” gamer?
Remember, remember, 15th of November
I dislike raids. It just breeds a hostile elitist community around it (not even counting the power-creeping gear treadmill which hopefully wouldn’t happen here, but I don’t believe they’ve ruled that out). And what for? So you can grind the same static thing over and over?
I really don’t see the appeal. Sure the first few times it can be awesome if it’s good content. But after you’ve mastered it (and expect everyone else too as well) ..how does that not get stale?
We should be pushing more more player-driven sandbox content. That’s way more dynamic with way more longevity. Give us more things we can do in the world. More ways to work together or against each other. More ways to “make our mark” in the world, personally, and as a guild. Grinding a bunch of instanced static encounters 100x couldn’t possibly sound less interesting. And the community it breeds is just another strike against it.

What, u want more escort, def, guard, protect dynamic event. The game can’t keep on cathering to casual player. Hardcore player would get bored and leave.
What, u want more escort, def, guard, protect dynamic event. The game can’t keep on cathering to casual player. Hardcore player would get bored and leave.
But if the game starts catering to hardcores instead, the casuals would feel left out and leave. Now which group leaving do you think would impact the game more?
Personally, I wouldn’t mind raids (as in: instanced or non-instanced content/events specifically tailored to coordinated groups of 10+ players) in this game. I have always enjoyed that kind of content in other games, even if I didn’t enjoy grinding those instances to death and potentially still missing out on the rewards.
If such a thing ever happens in GW2 though, I hope it’ll be in a way that does allow on-the-fly organisation (like Tequatl and Tripple Wurm that require coordination but allow people to get that going on a map of randoms rather than requiring before-hand organisation in guilds and such), and that the rewards will never be anything that makes people stronger, but just alternative/cosmetic variations to rewards available in-game elsewhere.
I’ve come to this game because it allows me to play whatever I find fun and gear up to my best abilities anyway. I don’t want to see any content where you need to play only one specific type or else your build/character will always be kitten due to missing out on certain equipment.
The term “end-game” isn’t even relevant. It’s “game”. And IMO there is enough to be done. “WE NEED RAIDS” is wrong, I don’t. -1 for instanced raids from me.
“Hardcore players” may switch to Wildstar, it was build for them – and look how it does. They need more players, as I hear. Stop turning this game into the same direction.
What, u want more escort, def, guard, protect dynamic event. The game can’t keep on cathering to casual player. Hardcore player would get bored and leave.
I don’t remember saying any of that. Thanks for putting words in my mouth though. (However, I would like to see DEs improved and actually more dynamic rather than timer based). Ironic that you said you’d be “bored”. How can you not get bored doing the same unchanging instance over and over and over and over and over?! You’ve got to be kidding.
And thanks for further illustrating my point about about communities. You’ve already made it more than clear that you think anyone who doesn’t meet your criteria of “hardcore” is a filthy casual and inherently a less valid as a gamer.
Aren’t there already enough games that cater to people like you? Since its inception the GW franchise was intended to NOT be like that and, unfortunately, they’ve already done much more than they should have to betray that old philosophy trying to pander to this type of supposed “true gamer”. It’s not like that’s the only direction they could have gone, or the direction the implied they’d be going during development. I say no more. Start pulling back in the other direction please.

Good Evening,
A couple of things.
1: The next phase of the CDI will be delayed until this weekend or Monday due lack of available time on my part.
2: whilst I am very much looking forward to the raid discussion and chatting with you all about it I do want to make it clear that this last CDI has been excellent, with maturity and collaboration throughout. So to be clear unnecessary comments about ‘True Gamers’, ‘Elitists’ and ‘Dress Up Players’ won’t be tolerated.
I just want to make this clear so we can all have a healthy discussion and design out a Raid System proposal that is born out of GW2’s core mechanics, personality and community passion.
Looking forward to having a great discussion with you all.

You could actually get it with trinkets and weapons alone:
10 AR on weapons (2x Simple infusions)
30 AR on trinket infusion slots. (6x Simple infusions from rings, amulet, accessories and backpiece)
3x +10 Agony infusions on Agony Infusion slots on infused rings/backpiece.
The only downside is, +10 Agony infusions are pricey, at 56-70g a piece, but still not as expensive as crafting a set of Ascended armor for the offensive/defensive infusion slots.
On Topic: There’s plenty of “end game” content, but player’s perception of “end game” needs to be changed. I personally don’t consider “end game” to be limited to raiding.
So to be clear unnecessary comments about ‘True Gamers’, ‘Elitists’ and ‘Dress Up Players’ won’t be tolerated.
I’ve been trying for SO long to get a red post to actually acknowledge anything I say, and I’ve put a lot of time and effort into writing what I thought was reasonable well thought out stuff (when offering suggestions anyway). Now it finally happens but only to say I can call a spade a spade. How lovely.
New official term: “players who look down on others and think they’re so kitten special for not having a life”. I personally find the one-word approach more practical though.

And you wonder why devs don’t answer every post you make?
For what its worth, I agree with you Kartel. This was bound to happen though. We have a good variety of raid events in the game already for groups of multiple sizes but these raid events do not fit some peoples own personal preferences for what a raid should be. However, I look forward to this as long as higher tiers of gear are NOT released. <- That is first and foremost on my list of things that should not happen.
What i would do is force guilds to unlock the PVE raids by putting in so many hours in WvW. Seems like a jerk move, I know. However, I would like to see if this would lead to an increase in WvW player base on some servers over the long run.

I think that raids are not just a single feature of an MMO, they are quite often seen as a statement about the orientation of the game itself. Most likely this is due to the fact that a lot of other well-known MMOs bind an item spiral to raid content and also use it as a means of adding let’s call it challenging content. As such I cannot see how the discussion about casual vs. elitist etc. can be completely kept out of this topic. At the end of the day ANet has to come up with a vision about the future direction of their own game.
Open world raids yeah, instanced no. instanced raids are in all other games out there.
It’s pretty simple, no gear progression just boss progression with your average greens n blues cuz lezbhonest loot will still suck in raids. Keep in mind, these bosses need to be extremely difficult and require coordination, not zerging.
Open world raids yeah, instanced no. instanced raids are in all other games out there.
I hear other games like to add content every so often as well, we should put GW2 on a standstill!
Being different for the sake of being different isn’t good, as shown by this games… well, everything.
Instanced is the only way to make true raids, and there is nothing wrong with that.
God forbid ANet tries to reinvent the wheel again…
(edited by Gimp.9460)
People who complain about a things like “raids are bad” or “true gamers” simply destroy the game.
Cause this game really needs reasonable content and a valuable feedback about it.
We can still have raids, and dont create any “Elitists” or something like that.
After all, we have for example PvP mode, that not everyone plays, right?
Anet simply could create a new guild mission called “Raid”, and give the guilds a chance to face with demanding bosses. It may even be remakes of world bosses or something like that, but on a smaller scale – for guild, than a world. And guild cooperation should be something important there – just dont let a guild zerg and smash the bosses Its boring. I dont feel like a hardcore player, but i prefer to have a goal, than smash everything and feel bored. Let guilds defeat the boss “A”, and then they would unlock boss “B” after that.
Anyway, every guild mission would be regularly updated.
And after that it would look like we really have an interesting PvE content.
-Guild Missions (everything what we’ve got now + raids + regular updates and support this mode to encourage people to do it) btw – its important to let 10man guilds, 20man, 30,40,50 or even 80man guilds to do it. Scaling is a good thing. It is not cool when there’s no slot (in the raid) for 1 person :| Or we’ve got e.g. 19 online, while raid requires 20.
-Word bosses
-Dungeons
-Fractals

ANet isn’t reinventing the wheel, it’s just that GW2 lacks holy trinity (and of course that’s definitely NOT a bad thing) and therefore challenges, enemy AI design, and difficulty has to be sorted out altogether, or else you get crap uninteresting “challenges”. They simply won’t create instanced raids the same way because their systems are very different from other MMOs (to an extent).

This.
Teq/3Worm IS the gw2 raids, The system here will allow so far this kind of experience, if ppl are expecting a “world of kitten” experience they will just be frustated, so a lot of time and resources wasted that could be used in other areas (new zones, new skills blablabla).

Let’s look at challenges and AI.
Challenges: 1shot instagibs. Bosses with billions of HP. Blinding particle effects.
AI: the same repeated attacks with very few bosses actually having phases and never more than 2 afaik. Hell not like it matters, the game still comes down to dodge or die then go back to autoattacking in a ball.

Yeah, u’ve got no typical tank/heal/dps but it doesnt mean that its impossible to create a raid or something like that. Look at Liadri boss – it was really cool and im pretty sure, that its possible to create something similar for a guild
Look at the teq or even wurm – cool (world :/ ) bosses – its possible to make something like that for a guilds – as a raid – it can be even harder than a world bosses Guilds could go there with 10/20/30/40/50 etc people -depending on the size. Ofc there would be different bosses – some of them shouldnt be that hard, and other harder and harder Im not a hardcore player, but i know that its better to have a challenge than be bored.

Exactly.

I didn’t refer to open world piñatas guys… I meant REAL INSTANCED RAIDS. They are possible, but they’d have to work out AI and enemy design, and at the time it seems to me it’s hard (take for example that new AI consultant who’s been hired recently).
Somewhere deep inside I still believe in ANet. Please ANet, don’t let me down.

What exactly will happend different in those raids that does not happend in those “piñatas”? How more organized than TEQ will those instances be? How extrapolated from dungeon mechanics it will be? You can’t tank, you cant focus heal, so will have little “zerg” groups managing/defending diferent parts of the map at key moments. So yes, Teq/worm is the closes to raids that this gameplay of gw2 can offer, due to system limitations.
Well if they do look to introduce raids focused around guilds then it better be scaleable unlike what we have currently in missions. Small guilds are left high and dry already by this kind of thing forcing them to alliance/co-op or otherwise go outside of “your guild” in order to get to see some content… thus negating the point of having your own guild of 2, 5, 10, 20.. unless you want to be a faceless 500, which many of us don’t.
Sure, lets not try to bring in the "Elitiist, Dress-up, Real Gamer tagging like Chris says.. instead lets now make it all about Elitist Guilds and exclusive content.
I mean its not like we don’t already have to rely on much larger guilds or larger alliance setups to get into do certain content (and then pray your early enough and don’t get DC’ed).
Everything that has come before has suffered with pretty awful scaling, but in doing so that is the only challenge a lot of stuff provides currently because boss AI and phasing don’t seem to count for much.
Instanced raiding is the best possible thing imo but only if the raids have challenge and interest, but at the same time scaleability to allow all to enjoy it.
EDIT .. Instanced Raids shouldn’t even be biased around Guild influence/unlocking.. they are instanced so guilds can run them just like a PUG can and avoids the openworld zerg mentality. It might actually help players to start organising their groups more effectively (if the content is actually designed around more than #1113111 Warrior LFG’s)

Thanks for this. I really can’t stand people judging other people as “real” gamers, or carebears because they prefer one aspect of games to others. It’s demeaning and unnecessary.
Glad to see it won’t be tolerated in the raiding thread.

Agreed. I always hated that behavior. Hopefully people will then realize that there’s no need to be rude, the game isn’t adding new tiers, so we’re mostly going to see cosmetic-related stuff.
Fractals and playing dress up isnt end game content.
This is subjective. It’s more than possibly for it to be end game, just no for you.

My sentiment exactly, I think the mindset of raids = endgame is potentially hazardous as games with end game raiding tend to only focus on end game raiding…

I know it’s only 1s and 0s but any system that will invalidate all the effort I’ve put into my gear is not one I want to be part of.

I don’t mind raids, I honestly don’t. I just don’t want a WoW clone, I left WoW because I got tired of raiding 4 hours a night 3 nights a week (i.e. being a casual player) and having all that effort become meaningless just because a new raid was released.
this game does have end game its called WvW a well geared player can have way way too much fun there
End game does differ for different people. My fear as I’ve stated is that raids might become the only focus of ANet.

Well you’re not going to get load of drunken frat boys at the black and white foreign film festival… I think given the nature of the next discussion (raiding) we’ll probably see a lot of difference opinions and not all of them mature or constructive… Raiding is simply topic that draw the interest or revulsion of a a lot of people.

Yay! Guild Raid!
It is great know there might be guild related raid contents! Currently, the only few activities that is capable of handling a large number is WvW, open-world PvE and guild missions. Currently, the number of guild-wide activities to do is very limited.

‘True Gamers’ and ‘Dress Up Players’, those I can understand (and completely agree with!); but there will need to be some talk about ‘Elitists’. I’m definitely not saying that people who are pro-raiding should just be called this as an insult, or anything of the like – but to be within the spirit of the game, raiding would have to be introduced in a way which doesn’t breed an elitist environment. We’ve all been there on other games and they are not nice people to work with. My sole existence on another MMO was to show these people the error of their ways (such as twisting their arms into letting some first timers in the group, then let them know that the inexperienced healer was solo healing the raid while I watched and waited just in case).
If we can’t have some (appropriate) discussion about this type of player and what causes them to be this way; we’ll either get nowhere with the CDI, or just have exactly the content they want being agreed upon. If we’re having content with such potential added to the game, it needs to be accessible (not a walk in the park, not new player experience, not dumbed down – just give everyone a chance).
I have been playing this game for a year or so now, and im still not sure I have ever taken part in “the living story”…maybe I have, or maybe those were just quests that always exist, hell who knows. that’s part of the reason I keep taking 2-3 month breaks from the game.
im playing a single player game that just happens to have random people pop in from time to time, im grinding for 100 different things, nooo clue if the quests im doing are part of this ever changing story the devs are trying to tell or if they are static quests that always exist and always will.
then when I do take a break, and come back I have no desire to join the story anyhow because I have already apparently missed 90% of it already, have no idea wtf is going on and no longer care wtf is going on. my entire playtime in this game has consisted of me (and sometimes one friend of mine) running around killing random stuff and selling the drops or salvage.
I only want one set of gear that looks somewhat decent per character, I don’t need 3 weapon sets, 5 costumes, and an inventory of crap that doesn’t help me kill any faster or get any more wealthy.
Oh God… I’ll phrase Trahearne: This won’t end well.
It’s up to us to make Trahearne lie. Don’t give up just now
One of the best things about this game is the lack of wow style raiding. Even if it didnt give gear with better stats it would still be pretty disappointing if we got 20 man raids that basically require joining a zerg guild to complete (nothing against zerg guilds or ‘elitists’ that want this kind of content but a lot of people dont want this content too).
Some kind of challenging raid would be cool but id hope its more in line with teq/marionette/wurm/ect than a separate instance

Don’t get me wrong, I would not mind having something like UW or FoW come back and require like 8 (maybe 10) people, but only if they also return our heroes to us so that the smaller groups of players don’t end up locked out of the content because they don’t have either a huge guild or because they don’t like pugging. There is nothing wrong with these types of players and there isn’t really any reason they shouldn’t have the availability of that content because they choose to play ‘x’ way over ‘y’ way.
raids in other games like rift were fun because after you have done them a number of times you can run with people that never done it, I ran dungeons hundreds of times that offered nothing I needed just to help people that did need the drops we had fun even when we failed
they don’t have to offer anything better, just another path to get what we can already. some of us just enjoy that kind of thing. I would do them even if there were no drops

1: The next phase of the CDI will be delayed until this weekend or Monday due lack of available time on my part.
2: whilst I am very much looking forward to the raid discussion and chatting with you all about it I do want to make it clear that this last CDI has been excellent, with maturity and collaboration throughout. So to be clear unnecessary comments about ‘True Gamers’, ‘Elitists’ and ‘Dress Up Players’ won’t be tolerated.I just want to make this clear so we can all have a healthy discussion and design out a Raid System proposal that is born out of GW2’s core mechanics, personality and community passion.
Looking forward to having a great discussion with you all.
Chris
Im ready. Have my initial thoughts already typed up and poised to post. Been waiting for this conversation for a while, and I love the direction you’re taking this (elitist hate is a plague on true raiding fans and should be stomped out/put down at every opportunity).
And have no problems with delays getting started. Just means you’re busy working on making/keeping us happy in other areas of the game.

Hi Blaeys,
I am very much looking forward to it to and I really appreciate your last sentence. You hit the nail on the head. Thanks for your understanding.

Blaeys’s sentence is so true … for 1.5 years ago. Even end-game raiding has been suggested (now) years ago :-/
