Please allow us to disable gliding
That is weird because the jump puzzles i’ve done seems to stop my glider from working at all, it just seems to be disabled.
My solution (implemented before gliding was a thing) was to make my mouse wheel click “jump”.
I’m sure this has been brought up many times before, but it feels worth underlining after today’s daily of Chaos Crystal Cavern.
I’ve been really glad to see jumping puzzles added to the daily categories, but the glider being automatically deployed every time the spacebar is held a fraction too long is making it extremely difficult to make precision jumps.
It’s all well and good to disable it for puzzles in which it could be used to circumvent the path, but that does nothing for those that arbitrarily keep it on, or vistas that require the same level of coordination.
Just a simple toggle would work wonders.
I hit a similar problem in the open world a couple of days ago – was trying to make a specific sequence of jumps, and found it very hard to do so without the glider deploying and spoiling things. It would be very useful to be able to opt to disable it briefly (and to take any associated risks, clearly).
Confused. Are gliders only allowed on HoT JPs or did they fail to implement “no fly” zones in core areas that require jumping?
Some of the JP’s are no fly zones; others allow gliding. It’s inconsistent.

Like they said, it seems a number of puzzles that can’t use gliding to circumvent the puzzle itself don’t disable it— CCC a particular example, and many many vistas. The flip side to this is that certain areas seem disable gliding OUTSIDE of the puzzle— I’ve fallen to my death jumping off of a cliff outside of Fawcett’s Bounty because of that.
The mouse wheel click is a good idea, if one that I would personally have a hard time adapting to.
I assume there wasn’t one from the start because they didn’t want people to disable it in HoT maps and forget, but now that there’s gliding in central Tyria as well, it really just doesn’t make sense to not allow toggling. Falling is just an inherent risk of the game; live and learn and remember to turn it back on next time.
Mushroom JP at Rata Novus “Auto deploy glider to overshoot mushroom” is getting a bit old frankly.
Learn to press and release the spacebar instead of holding it when you jump. Not a huge deal. There’s quite a bit of leeway in the timing.

Actually if we had a slider for duration of space bar down before glider deployment would be nice.
I was doing the daily jumping puzzle in Fireheart Rise today and sometimes it almost seems like two quick hops would deploy the glider on the second one. I would get into a rhythm and hop .. hop .., hop . hop GLIDER DEPLOY!! … start again. The random conditions were bad enough with the flashing but add this into it and blood pressure spikes.

Yeah I agree it was annoying doing the Chaos Crystal Cavern this evening.
Had to be really careful to tap jump lightly incase of accidently opening the glider and missing the jump.
I’ve had a few times when the glider has got in the way also. I just wish they would add a keystroke for enable/disable gliding like run/walk key. It should flag the on-screen indicator also. I use a Nostromo N50 and would just bind it to one of the keys.
Tap the spacebar and have it fail to register? Or have it register the jump, but deploy the glider anyway? (Especially in quick-succession jumps)
I’ve had this experience too, especially in the mushroom jp for some reason. It’s as if the client is so busy with the extra processing/rendering there’s a delay in reacting to the keyboard input.
fingers crossed for a simple glider toggle at some point
