I agree with OP. I wanted to create this topic myself. Please, bring it back. Without this login screen it feels kind of cheap when you start the game and get the character selection screen – it is like having book without hard cover page, and with List of Content page instead…

Honestly, I liked the music. Everything matched. They couldn’t have hit the nail harder on the head when it came to this log-in screen.

You guys are awesome. I seriously hope they do bring back something that was for me, a huge part of the game. It really did give me excitement just opening up the game back during BWE1.

I’ve seen a few of these over months, and I always hoped they would bring it back. I really miss the old login screen from the beta. I always got so excited to launch the game. I know it’s just the login screen but the combination of music and design on it was really something.

I have to agree, the artistic beauty of the logon screen was a breath of fresh air compared to the dark brooding of Blizzard’s design.

Bring it back but roll the patching into it, maybe as a red bar at the bottom.

You used to be able to type in a special command into the launcher to convert it back to the beta launcher. But for some reason, that option was taken our with a patch. I agree, though. I would love to see the option to convert back to the old launcher.

I would like the beta version back as well. The latest incarnation with the achievement info is really not nice to look at.

The Beta log-in screen was epic. The “new” log-in sucks, looks bad and is boring.=( I still can’t believe they went for such a massive downgrade.

Yea that log-in screen gave me goosebumps the first few times I loaded it. After all those years of excited anticipation! I liked it, too.

That’s the thing, Guild Wars 1 had a loader to download patches, and that was it. When the game started, you had a log-in screen with a news feed on the right side. It’s entirely possible to fit a news feed into the log-in screen. Preferably, I don’t want a news feed in the log-in screen. It would actually be beneficial to put a News Feed at the character select screen since you already have a Trophy and Achievement panel. Nothing is stopping them from putting in a third panel for a News Feed API.

I just wish they’d reimplement the “-useoldlauncher” command line. That would give people who really wanted it back the chance to use it without affecting anyone else.

I remember that! I was ready to explode with joy at the prospect of playing Guild Wars 2 for the first time, and then that screen popped up and I completely lost my mind. It was glorious! I would love to see that come back.

Please bring back the Log-in Screen from Beta Weekend #1. Back when a lot of us streamers (including myself) streamed Beta Weekend #1, we had the log-in screen up and streaming for hours before the servers were open and most of us, if not all of us all commented on how the log-in screen looked.

The music that played at the log-in screen, the concept art that scrolled on by inside the Guild Wars 2 logo, and the simplistic; yet artistic style of the log-in box was just beautiful. I don’t see why you guys had to take it out.

I know you guys want the authenticate system in so that people’s accounts are secure, but can’t you guys try to figure a way out to code in that system into the log-in screen? A few games already have the system at their log-in screen. World of Warcraft, Runescape, Neverwinter, etc.

I beseech you ArenaNet, please please PLEASE bring back the log-in screen that once instilled anticipation and excitement in me just by opening up the game and seeing such beauty.

The only thing I like in that screen is the option to login “offline”.

Make it a Screensaver and I will turn on my screensaver function for the first time in 20 years.

I totally agree with the OP. That was one of the things that hooked me at the beta weekend. Now we have some art thingy that’s supposed to be Caithe or something :P.

I want this, I want this, I want this. I don’t know why they removed it. Lots of games these days have that smaller startup window with no sound. There is no impact! It doesn’t feel like an event! When I login I want to feel like I’m being transported to something amazing, not like I’m logging in to go back to work.
