Please change dayly achievement points system
No, I disagree with you.I like the new direction and 100% support it.
The old system had 2 PvP, 2WvW and 6 PvE ones.
Now it’s 4 of each.
PvE players had a lot more choices… People in PvP and WvW had none. Now it’s 4 of each which brings the different mode on more equal footing.

•Completing daily achievements no longer awards players with achievement points.
•A new Daily Completionist achievement has been added and is earned by completing any combination of daily achievements from the three categories.
•Completing the Daily Completionist achievement rewards players with 10 achievement points. The vast majority of your player base is PVE only. A lot of this player base want to be able to get achievement points the way they want to. Not the way YOU want them to.
Trying to coerces the vast majority of your player base into game styles they utmostly despise is a VERY BAD idea.
If you do not change that, I predict you will loose a good chunk of your PVE player base.
I am a bit confused over all the rage… at first you get 5-8AP for 5-8 dailys and a standard reward assuming u did not wvw or pvp.
The new system gives you 10AP for 3, plus additional rewards, plus a reward for just logging on. There is 4 PvE related dailys that are slighly more specific than before. You still don’t have to step out of PvE to get your daily and you get more rewards.
How do people still find a way to complain about this?

im guessing that any combination from the 3 categories means that you can have 3 from one/2 from one and 1 from another and not just the assumed one from all 3.

People tend to dislike less choice over more choice? Just a thought.

This… To OP: “daily completionist” only requires 3 achievements of 12 (4 in wvw, 4 in PvE, and 4 in PvP). You don’t have to leave PvE for your achievement points.

Sorry but there are still 12 choices and now you only have to do 3… not choosing something is not the same thing as no choice. Its people that think the game should cater to them and only them that makes this community seem down right silly at times.

With only 4 choices in each category, you may find yourself forced to go in WvW or PvP if you can only make 2 in one category.
At least with the old system you had a lot more choices.

Before, i could choose 5 of 8 possible (for pve only play) options. Of which at most one required me to go to specific region, none required specific zone or event. Now i can choose 3 out of 4. Of those one is a specific event (jungle wurm), one is regions specific (maguuma jungle forager), one is zone specific (queensdale events). Notice, how Queensdale is not in Maguuma Jungle region, and how Jungle Wurm is not a Queensdale event.
Doing daily meta not only requires more work than before, but it also forces a significant change to daily gameplay schedule (which previously was not the case).
I’m not only offered less choices than before, but those are mostly choices i don’t like.

The point of dailies is to get players to do thing they wouldn’t otherwise do.
They are supposed to be a carrot on a stick that leads you to do WvW, PvP, or PvE.
ArenaNet kind of screwed up with the earlier implementation by making it far too simple to get the dailies done without ever leaving your comfort zone.
This change finally fixes dailies and makes them a proper incentive for players to expand their horizons.
It’s a good change overall, which will unfortunately cause a lot of short term anger as players realize that ArenaNet will no longer be placing the carrot directly into their mouths for them.

The same thing can be said about the old system to…. People were also forced from PvP to PvE in the old system.
Like I said before not choosing to do 2 in the PvE catagory or in any category just because you don’t like it is not the same thing as not having that choice. Nobody is forcing anyone to do anything, this is all a game we play willingly without consequence.

Don’t much like the change, but I just wont do them, can just get the laurels from daily login, getting achievement points serves no purpose.

I actually see it as alot less work for double the AP and reward. Grinding out 10-12 dailys a day took much more time. It isn’t much different from event completer, group event completer, and gather. Except you might have to do it in a specific place now.
I noticed how you didn’t mention the mystic forge. Which is the easiest of all. Throw some cheap low cost items in there a few times and you are done. You could have today’s daily done quicker than than the old system.

Am I missing something or did the old system not have several WvW and PvP only achievements as well? There was always a PvP match completer, a WvW capturer, etc… It’s not like all 10 of those dailies were PvE. Seems to me we have the same system in new wrapping paper…
The point of dailies is to get players to do thing they wouldn’t otherwise do.
No, that’s what the proper reward structure and interesting gameplay are for.
They are supposed to be a carrot on a stick that leads you to do WvW, PvP, or PvE.
If that content is not interesting, then all it can do is that i will either ignore it (if the carrot is too small) or take the bait (if it’s big enough), but with the end effect of me hating the content i got baited into playing (instead of just ignoring it). And i’m 100% sure that neither PvP players nor WvW players want to see in their gameplay hordes of achievement farmers from PvE. Just read the WvW threads that appeared after the first two WvW tournaments.

Actually, it had 2 PvP, 2 WvW, and 6 others of which at least 3 always were doable in any game mode (sometimes all 6)

It was actually 2, 2 and 8, not 2, 2 and 6, but who’s counting?

The dailies have become more specific. Things like Daily Kills, Daily Gatherer, Event Completer, etc. could be achieved in WvW or PvE. Now there are 4 that can only be gained in WvW, 4 only in PvP and 4 that can only be gotten in PvE — and in specific areas in PvE.
Also don’t forget that these daily achievements are now quicker to complete individually than they were before.

I’m still waiting for the wurm to pop up, so i’d say you are incorrect.

Just did Queensdale Events. Took about 20 minutes, mostly because I got to a couple of events too late and didn’t find a chain (Other than SB, I don;t remember any chains in QD. I’ve done 5 of the old dailies faster than that. I don’t think the new ones will be faster in all cases.

There are many individual events that you can do in QD. There’s the grub, fish, troll, defend/take farm, beehive, skale egg, escort guard at fort, ruined grapes, multiple centaur events on the easy side of the map, and many more.
Also, when I said faster, I was referring to the individual achievements. The gathering one is quicker to do as well as many of the WvW ones.

Yes, that one achievement individually can take up to 2 hours. Waiting till the event pops counts as well, you know. In 2 hours i’d have completed all 12 previous dailies, with a time to spare.

And my point was that I’ve done 5 of the old ones faster than I did QD events today. For the record, QD events is the same requirement as the old Kryta Events, just restricted to one zone. That’s the same, not faster.

That particular achievement did not exist before the patch so what I said doesn’t apply to it.

A lot of the other achievements required not much effort. I’m pretty sure the laurel daily achievement is quicker than the QD event sail achievement. My point is that the individual daily achievement are much quicker to complete than they were before the update.
Totally disagree with the OP. I like the new changes. Think it is a huge improvement over the old system.

I’m guessing you don’t play wvw too much. In wvw there’s plenty of things to kill and items to be salvaged and events to complete. I was able to do 90% of the “pve” achievements in the old system by only playing wvw.
Same goes with spvp, you get credit for a few of the “pve” dailies.

So, the ones from PVE, such as daily kills, events, gathering, reviving, or recycling didn’t apply to any activities in WvW or PvP? I know there is gathering, events, reviving, and recycling in WvW, but not sure about PvP – (Did both enough a couple of years ago to satisfy any urge to do so again, plus I’m old and forgetful <g>)

There’s also applying/removing conditions and interrupting. These were also able to be done in PvP.

It’s not a good idea in general. While I can tolerate this new system some of my friends that played this game that are thinking of coming back to it told me they literally won’t be coming back because of this.
The new system while maybe granting more aps on average does make it harder and take longer for those focused exclusively on pve to get the daily reward.

That’s not true. You can get daily skill interrupter, kills, dodges in pvp. I used to do that all the time.

Anyone who told you that they would not come back to a game over something as absurdly silly as this was never planning on coming back and is simply using an absurdly silly excuse.
Old System: I played whatever i wanted in PVE and almost always got the dailies by playing the game unforced for a normal time of hours in a day. Events, gathering, salvaging, combat actions etc without ever having too force myself. Thats good achievements.
New system: the very narrow pool of pve daily achievements requires me too force myself doing things i dont wanna do. That it only takes half an hour is no excuse. Its a transition from horizontal (getting rewarded for unforced normal gameplay), too vertical gameplay (grind). I’m seeing a transittion pattern that doesn’t look too healthy.
First the gated traits, personal story gating, now the forced daily system (and lets not forget the spoonfed beginner areas we have now). At the same time theres a steady decline in the delivering of content this year opposed to last year. Yes its permanent now, but its also much less.
Just my thoughts.
It’s not vertical gameplay. You also only have to do 3 achievements while getting 10 AP. All you get from dailies are the new rewards tied to specific dailies and the 10 AP from completing any three. If you cared about AP, you’d likely be excited that you can get 10 now for very little effort compared to before the update.
Can anyone confirm if you get a laurel for daily still?
All you have to do is log in each day, after reset, and you’ll get a laurel.
Read the patch notes when you log in to the game.

It is forced play (greatly reduced PVE pool), so its certainly grind. It forces you too play in a particular way. The old system did not, you where rewarded for playing the game the way you wanted. I play decent hours of PVE, but have no intention of hanging in Queensdale, Caledon Forest everyday. And have certainly no intention of pvp-ing or WvW ing.
Great for the Achievement grinders, not for the players who just want too play the content they like. I found it a nice reward (as anti grinder) by playing the content, seeing the dailies and monthlies pop up as a reward for that.
All you have to do is log in each day, after reset, and you’ll get a laurel.

I am actually not only slightly losing on APs on monthly basis (due to loss of monthlies), but, in order for it to be only a slight loss, i need to dedicate time specifically for those dailies – which i didn’t need to do before. So, either i need to play more (sacrificing RL time – generally not a good idea), or dedicate less playtime to things i like. Or lose the AP completely.
On all three counts i lose compared to the previous system. And the rewards are not good enough to compensate for that.

The cap was raised so monthly AP and daily AP are pooled together. You may lose out on some AP now but it’ll even out later when you would have gotten 10K daily AP under the old system. Getting the 3 dailies is relatively quick as people have reported doing it in under 10 minutes. Getting the 10 AP in the old system often required you to go out of your way and took much more time.

So we need a combination of the new and old. There should be the same amount of choices for PvE, PvP, and WvW. I think there should be at least five per group, and they shouldn’t be map bound.
