Hello! I am a lover of all things bright and shiny, and when I saw the concept of Sunrise and its screencaps on the wiki, I fell in love with it immediately. I was always wondering why it sold for so little compared to Twilight prior to Eternity being created, and assumed it was simply because preference for Dark+Edgy.

Unfortunately… now that I’ve seen it in-game, I am terribly disappointed. Unlike Twilight, the actual texture in-game and animated for Sunrise fails to deliver the visual fantasy the name promises. The image it uses is quite nice as a standalone piece… but in-game, it turns out to be oversaturated and too low-key, almost always darker than the sky and land it’s sweeping over. Instead of painting the world in swaths of sun and daylight, it swabs it in muddy splotches of dark brown and blue when viewed from most gameplay-friendly angles. I want to brighten the world with this blade, not muddy and darken it!

I have all sorts of suggestions for improving the image! I know this is probably an old topic, but it’s a very important issue!

I respectfully disagree. A lot. There are -so- many things that needs attention before the graphics of a single weapon which quite frankly comes down to personal taste. Catering to YOUR taste towards a single weapon which is made for literally anyone who can be kitten d to work for it is not a very important issue.

That’s just the thing – Sunrise DOESN’T reflect nor have a window to the clear sky! When I said “Like Twilight”, I was talking about how Twilight manages to achieve its effect.

Instead of being a beautiful, bright weapon that shows us the sky and sun brighter than the world around us, the blade usually shows a dark, almost ocean-like blue or muddy, dirty brown. I’d like to see the blade’s image be of a brighter, clearer sky instead of the murky clouds it currently features.

As it is a Legendary weapon and worth quite a bit of effort, having the blade actually deliver on the “Sunrise” name instead of “Muddy Puddle”, it IS important. Especially since it’s just a single texture/image that needs to be remade.

It is not so much to ask. It is still not important from a whole game scope.

@OP: My opinion is opposite to yours. Sunrise is absolutely glorious and it doesn’t require any change. Pictures below to demonstrate what you would describe as a “bright fiery sun rising in a dim pale blue sky”. A clear blue (morning/afternoon) sky is a totally different beast and I believe it does not apply to Sunrise.

No. I mean every wielder of the blade I’ve ever seen while playing. I have no doubt it looks better if I were to have it in-person… but if it doesn’t look great to everyone else, what’s the point?

I admit it looks excellent in freeze-frame… but in motion, it looks like a muddy puddle 80% of the time.

However, you dont own the weapon and are asking for a change to something ppl already have and love. Im also not an advocate of changing legendary effects. Ive seen changes to some of mine which I have not considered beneficial, i felt Moot was diminished for example and i had that for 18 months before they started tinkering with it.

I dont think Sunrise falls into the category of requiring change, personally speaking.

Wait a minute, I own Sunrise and I like the way it looks on my characters. Why would I go out of my way to dictate (or even care about) how it would look to someone else? Much less from a person who didn’t own the weapon to begin with. I’m sorry but your request didn’t make any sense to me. As Randulf said, it is upsetting to some legendary owners when ANET decided to revamp some legendary effects in the past. So unless it is by popular request, there is no reason to keep tinkering with the old legendary weapon.

Also, I attach two other pictures: normal game view and bird view. Sunrise is fine, once again.

P.S.: If you think pictures aren’t enough, maybe youtube videos help?

This is what I’m saying as well, and the guy above plainly demonstrated, by wagging around a muddy puddle behind a blade.

Those above-views are muddy puddles, not a glorious sunrise. Maybe a better, simpler fix would be to reflect the image at higher angles so we don’t get brown/pink mudpuddles, and get the full sunrise effect again?

I… I rest my case.

I’m not a person who plays with a top down camera view so that’s why I don’t understand the issue. However, I do like the way Sunrise looks currently and wish for no change at all. Taste differs. If OP wants more flashy version of the Sunrise, maybe look at the Eternity? Or even better, just save your time and resources for the new HoT legendary greatsword?

The problem is, if the they change the looks based on your personal taste, then every time someone says “I don’t like the looks of X, please change it”, they have to change it. Precedent would be made.

And what if the look they change to Sunrise to you love, but someone else hates and then in the future goes: “I don’t like the look of Sunrise, please change it”?

There’s no way they can get every skin to appeal to every player. Therefore they should only fix graphical things that are in error (and given the number of players who own Sunrise, I’d doubt the issue is a graphical error). There are more important things that need dev attention than changing the looks of old weapons.

Like coming up with the new legendaries. Or new weapons that will be in future content releases.

You don’t have it but you’re making a weapon where you already know that you don’t like the graphics. So, you post and ask for a skin that’s been in game for years and that hundreds or thousands of people made because they do like it to be changed to what you like.

As a proud sunrise owner I’d like to not see any change come to the legendary I worked so hard for and have been wielding for the past year. I understand that u don’t like a skin, but consider using a different one instead of asking for change.

I’m generally against any significant changes to existing skins or animations.

If I don’t like a skin as it is, I don’t have to get it. If I do like a skin, and I get it, but it’s changed to where I don’t like it anymore, then I feel betrayed, like something has been taken away from me. This is especially true with legendary weapons, which are such a huge investment to obtain.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any other “Daylight”-themed weapons. Sunrise is that daylight-themed weapon. Unfortunately, it’s very dark, and looks like you have explosive diarrhea if seen from above.

If this is your opinion of a weapon you like and are spending substantial amount of gold to get, then I’d hate to see your opinion of a weapon skin you didn’t like. You know, if it was me I’d get something I liked not something that looks like I have explosive diarrhea, unless, of course, that’s the look you’re going for. If it is, knock yourself out. If not, I can’t imagine why you’d want it.

I hope the new legendary sword is a bright skyblade with a rainbow! And sunlight!

The only problem i have with any of the legendary greatswords is the simple fact that they are as flat as a pizza spoon.

The width of the blade needed to be drawn out more to be a more 3-Dimension weapon.

This, I love the sunrise effects but the shape of the blade could have been much better.

Take a look at ebonblade and cobalt. They both have thicker blades that are narrow(you know, like a sword) and actually have some dimension to them.

I like the lack of thickness to the blade on the two legendary swords. They’re not swordblades – they’re rifts to the sky. I just wish the bottom of the Sunrise texture wasn’t so muddy.

We’ll have to disagree if you think that (a) there aren’t any other daylight-themed weapons and (b) if you also think Sunrise is very dark. (I have no opinion about whether it’s possible to see any projectile vomit.)
