Please disable gliding in jumping puzzles
Your glider is opening because you are holding the jump button.
You do not jump higher by holding the jump button. Just tap it.

I am trying to, but it would be nice if I could just disable it or turn it off or something. I think that sometimes when I am making a longer jump, I hold it a bit longer without thinking about it, and since it’s never been a problem before, I never even noticed I was doing that.
Anyway, I thought Anet said they were going to disable gliding in jumping puzzle areas. It’s been really frustrating so far trying to do chaos crystal caverns again. The weird effects are bad enough without having to worry about how long I’m holding down the f—-in space bar.
In core Tyrian JP. Most of them anyway. Sometimes just halfway in.
I also have the same problem now that I’ve unlocked gliding. I was used to holding the space bar while i’m jumping. I think it is to avoid shifting any fingers on my left (non-dominant) hand once I’ve made the jump. Instead I am making fine-tune adjustments in jumping puzzles with my right hand on my mouse to shift my orientation left or right. I’m also concentrating on forward/back with the middle finger of my left hand on W/S keys.
It works well in HoT when I want to glide most of the time when jumping off of things, either to “move faster” when moving from slightly higher terrain to lower terrain when in combat otherwise or doing any myriad of gliding from high places.
I’ve found it quite frustrating in Central Tyria jumping puzzles (Troll’s Revenge in LA most recently) because of the occassional gliding just when I am reaching the falling height where it kicks in and instead of continuing down to where I would expect I glide right past because the edge I’m jumping to is just slightly lower than where I jumped from.
I do think it would be nice to have an option to disable auto-glide instead requiring a double tap of the space bar to toggle the glider. I think this would make it somewhat similar to the option to disable “Double-tap to evade”.
Similarly, it might be nice to have the ability to toggle the in-town “Leader of the Pact” buff. This one probably isn’t as bad (usually a little speed is good for jumping puzzles, and it only really can cause issues in town jumping puzzles).
