Just don’t… please… that is one gripe I had with wow while Blizzard was alive. The ginormous skyscrapers on shoulders. Seeing hellfire stuff… that looks identical heavy/medium/light and having shoulder pads looking like a 3yeard old copied something from wow is just sad.
I want to be excited about achivement skins… but I can’t because they either super carebear shiny(all they are missing is rainbow vomit) or they are fire… and looking identical across the board. Why introduce skin that looks exactly the same no matter if its light/heavy/medium? Are there no other effects in the world of Tyria other then fire and rainbows?
Having a male in light armor is bad enough as it is. Everything is tights. Its like a superhero convention. I feel like if I don’t play female char then I just force my brain cells to commit suicide just to escape the horrid sight of “men in tights” army. Now the shoulderpads look bigger then my characters torso. And no I’m not a huge fan of robes either. They aren’t very practical for adeventuring or anything else that involves doing something other then standing around. Yes its nice to wear a robe and be able to lift it up for a quickie but lets be serious here. Either tights or robes. Robe in wilderness? I’d probably give up after 30 mins of trying to go through a forest in a dress and catching every branch in near vicinity. Probably doing it naked and suffering some cuts would be easier and less time consuming.
So anyway. No to tights and gigantic SHOUUUUUUUUUULDERPAAAAAAAAAAADS. Seriously.
Large shoulder pauldrons make you look awesome, hope they keep hammering them out. #increase human shoulder size for smaller physiques, that would be great.
Guild Wars 2 is not a sequel to the original Guild Wars but merely an alternative story setting.
This is a completely reasonable comparison, anybody can tell (even he himself) that Samwise Didier likes to draw ridiculously exaggerated pauldrons. I personally find them distasteful as well, don’t know if I would say I want them removed, but I certainly do not want the game flooded with them either.
Everything else has gone back to the 80s so why not big, flouro shoulder pads?
Back on topic, I don’t mind them. I don’t have anything like it in the game yet but I’m looking forward to the glowie white ones to match the gauntlets. I have the perfect character for them.
Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
I like em!
+1 for big shoulders with particle effects!
0 for big shoulders. +10 for Particles.
Fixed.

… As you can see everyone has their preferences. Hence, there needs to be a variety of designers.
Or a larger variety of skins. One per thousand people might be about right. Though that would leave the other 999 people in the thousand to whinge about not having one exactly for them.

Everyone loves large shoulders. Particle effects? Hahaha No, I won’t allow this game to look like a cheap asian knock off. @Blizzard comment, least then the game would be in good hands between the two evils.

Aslo… everyone got their opinion… yet the skins for all armor types look bloody identical. I don’t see how that ever makes sense. And no, gigantic lava bounders on a guy wearing tights looks kittened. Particle effects when done right and with taste can be great(subtle and not flashy scythe animation for necro staff… now thats done with style). But… since everything is fire/rainbows… meh. Do they look good on something? Sure… on warrior… or something that naturally wears bulky things. Tho they are still gigantic and unpractical.
I don’t like giant over-sized shoulders or over-sized how the hell do you even use that weapons for that matter. Everyone has their preferences. At least you can hide shoulders in this game and change the look of you armor while keeping the stats.
I enjoy oversized gear, but mainly when it comes to weapons. For armor I enjoy asymmetrical pieces more. I’m fine with them adding in all types of armor though.
Since a lot of people hate them some of whom are in this thread obviously not everyone agrees with your opinion that big shoulders are good so your statement is false.

A lot of people also love them knowing from experience. I’m glad they don’t care, also calling another individual’s opinion false is bigotry and I will not be apart of it. Harmless fun nothing more, nothing less.

You won’t allow? Are you saying you are the majority stockholder? Oh, you must be in charge at Anet? Or maybe you have an OPINION, just like everyone else.
Edit: Looking at your above post….are you saying that you’re just trolling?

Be a part of it? You started it and thus far have been the only participant.
People stated they had a negative opinion about the subject, you stated that everyone has a positive opinion about it just as you do, invalidating their opinion. If anyone here has declared someone else’s opinion false, if anyone here is a bigot, it’s you.

Coming from the one tossing insults by calling people peons?
A lot people do like then and I never said they didn’t. You saying everyone loves then when some people clearly don’t is like saying everyone is blond while talking to someone with black hair. Perhaps you should go to sleep or something because you seem to failing to comprehend the words you’re using.
Argh whatever, this is a minor thing to argue about.
I love the big sholders u got tons of small ones this topic is just stupid im sorry m8 if u feel like that :P
Good job on completely disregarding the fact that not everyone does. Nor does everyone wear heavy armor and yet everyone is stuck with the same model. No the achivement points reward doesn’t offer options. They both only come in 1 form with no deviation what so ever on wether you use light armor or heavy or something else.
The only thing stupid here is your lack of accepting that you are not alone. There are others here… and they have their own opinions.
Thanks to folks that actually do have opinion even if they don’t share mine. As long as people accept the fact that not everyone wants the same kitten thing we are at least on same page.
Seems the devs do (tier gear). No reason why players shouldn’t worry that they’re going to do other WoW things.
Legendaries are tacky and garish. Wouldn’t surprise me to see it in the new Ascended shoulder pads. WoW did it, so clearly that’s what everyone wants, right?
How about fixing the horrid shoulder pad clipping for different body types before introducing new ones.
Or the shoulder pad float on so so many cases (sometimes very huge ones like there is few inches in between the shoulder and pad). And what comes to topic I don’t like oversized shoulders.
Effects are fine but even they are not my favourite (alltough in somecases they are just cool), and well I don’t like anything that is oversized (weapons, shoulders, back items…) stuff needs to be practical looking for me and if there is effects in something otherwise practical stuff I don’t mind them
How about hellfire helmet… on light armor there is literally only ONE chest piece that doesn’t make it look like a bucket on fire strapped onto a head of a poor sod.
the faboulus side of this game is awesome, but my opinion can be biased^^
anyhow gargantuan shoulder pads for me are a big mistake.
i totally lolled at the video of wow shoulder pads… how can you even manage to move your arms under those?? or just falling on your back for the weight?

In my 15 years of MMOing experience, you are one of a very VERY tiny minority that I’ve heard say they like the big shoulders.
Just saying that “everyone” isn’t as prominent as you think.
Personally, I think instead of saying dont make this armor, it would be better to just have the variety to allow people to have what they want. Better to add than to take away.
There’s also the ever present floating pauldron (shoulder armor) syndrome: regardless of what armor type and what race, there will always be floating shoulder armor.
