How dare you nerf my class’ means of mitigating damage! Every other class has Invulnerability/Blocks/Vigor/Protection/Mobility/Stealth/Higher Stats/Better Traits/Regeneration all at the same time, all the time! I can’t believe you’re nerfing the only thing we had to mitigate damage in the first place! Every other class has all of those things!

*Seen on basically every Profession forum out there, no joke.

With that said, I feel like there’s some truth to these statements. I feel like the classes in GW2 are a bit brittle by default, and it forces people to spec fully into Bunker or spec fully into Burst. I think these really universal complaints speak to a larger problem in GW2 – that it’s very hard to make balanced builds, and when people DO happen upon balanced builds, they are immediately seized upon, become flavor of the month, and then are nerfed.

It’s a very unhealthy cycle that has burned everyone. Can’t we work to make interesting all-around survivable and damaging builds for ALL classes, all at the same time?

IMO id would like to have more flexibility in all classes as it sits now there is ONE dps build ONE WvW build and ONE survivable build for the min max’rs out there. It would be nice to not know what build people are using simply by what weapon is in there hands.

an with no “holy tinity” or any usefull support build for that matter its just get your PvE DPS build for all dungeons all paths cause burning down a boss mob is easyer then any sort of tactics or healing support XD

Necromancers do have some grounds for complaint there as they do lack any form of damage avoidance (no Vigor, no endurance refills, no Evade skills, no blocks, no invulnerability), but outside of PvE bosses and WvW surprise zergs, this really isn’t a problem as death shroud can soak a lot of punishment. It’s kind of fun when your defense is “Be a MAN!”

Guardians have no grounds for complaint, as they have everything but Evade skills. Warriors do have everything (GS3 evades).

Thief damage avoidance is getting nerfed because it really was out of hand. I have gone entire fights against thieves with only landing 5 attacks or less as a tanky as hell necro. When they weren’t Evading, they were stelathed and vice-versa. There is a video on Youtube of a thief getting at least 13 dodges in a row between the shortbow, Roll for Initiative, Withdraw, and Feline Grace (plus Vigor). If the thief is completely untouchable for 15 seconds by anything at all, even if he is blowing all of his cooldowns for it, it’s too much.

This is a game built around teamwork. Builds with survivability and damage exist heavily in 1v1 servers but the builds are 1v1 based, they’re not hugely useful or strong in a team setting. You might see a handful of meta builds but many of those people are trying to get the feel of a build in a more controlled setting. In tpvp you won’t see this, when it does happen(like when warriors have great uptime/damage/control) it has to be nerfed. After all, you don’t see thieves traited into shadow arts in a tournament because why would they? They can’t do everything.

Another issue occurs when people ask for buffs, like with the guardian DPS builds. Everyone knows that guards have amazing utility/support and can bunker very well. If Anet really buffed their damage or control abilities without nerfing healing potency then we could see a repeat of the warrior.
