Please give us a PvE Queue..
Not a bad idea I guess, though I’ve never had any issues when doing meta events. And Im not on half as much as everyone else. But, when I want to do one, theres always room for me. Unless Im not paying attention to when the event starts and am a few minutes late when trying to secure a spot. I keep dulfys timer open and make sure im on top of it.
But as I said … This isnt a bad idea.
The problem would then occur if you want to visit that map and you aren’t there for the meta. People cant be forced to queue or shut out because or do achievements just because a meta is on.
Yes, you could argue those players could wait until after the meta, but that’s bad game design to lock players out due to one factor.
The system needs an overhaul somewhere and they are making adjustments to the system as a long term project as stated at the turn of the year, but I’m not sure the queuing system irons out the problem w/o creating all new ones.
The idea is that you should be able to just login and do it. These events aren’t balanced for full maps; not even half, though you won’t be able to AFK and win. When people are unwilling to even try, it only worsens the problem.
If they were to implement queuing, they should separate the events, making these larger metas/bosses their own type of content in their own areas. Like activities, they should be something that you join with the sole intention of doing. This way, everyone there is only there to participate and these events can be balanced around specific numbers.
It’s clear that everyone, including those at ANet, think the current system could be improved. At the same time, it’s better now than before, i.e. it’s possible now to get into the map you want using LFG, even if LFG is an awkward tool.
What’s missing is a way to easily group up (for those that want the meta) into a map that’s full and a way (again, for those that want the meta) to queue for an already full map for whatever reasons those players might have.
That has to be balanced against people trying to return to a map from which they just DC’d (or accidentally exited or even purposefully exited).
I can’t imagine that it’s simple to change the underlying mechanics to make all of the above possible, never mind easy for the player to manage.
On a dozen or so occasions I have waited longer than anyone else in Dragon Stand for reset only to not be able to make it into the next meta map. That is about the worst design imaginable, allowing people that got there later to get into the map, excluding those who waited the longest… all because their internet connection is a little slower than someone else’s.
they’ve already stated they are looking into fixing megaservers somehow in the future (i suspect districts or something similar is not far off).
Not only a queue, but also a “reserved” spot on the map for a few minutes in case of dc. Losing 1+ hour of hard work because of dc during the Mordy fight and not getting the big loot is extremely frustrating.

I think that will not happen. We could count the number of gw2 players (aka the big secret)

We had districts in GW1 and still did not know how many were playing at any one time. People were in different cities on different districts
