Bought the game last night and played for 15 minutes… This company really knows how to make a first impression on a new customer. Glad I spend more time troubleshooting my PC/Software for a random bug than playing the game before I found this post.

kittening bravo to the idiot that approved this as a forced global setting in their software.

It is a one day joke. Go to bed, do some stuff for a day. Come back and it will be the game you were looking for. Well maybe not if you get so bent out of shape over a one day transformation. You didn’t even describe how this affected your game play.

Or you could spend more time camping this thread telling people how and when to enjoy their game, if we’re on the topic of ‘gainful activities.’

So are you camping this thread too? Good grief. It is a 24 hour thing, If people want to rage then let them. I’m still going to call them out for it. This thread is almost a duplicate of the bobble head prank last year. People talking about how this ruined the game, they will never buy gems again, they are physically sick and all the other hyperbole that went with it.

It get’s old.

It may surprise you gentlemen to find out that white-knighting to the point of insulting others about their lifestyle and gaming choices isn’t appropriate on a CS resume, then. Take it from me. Please.

And yes. I’m camping the thread for a fix. I’m a member of a relatively large guild on TC that had a meeting scheduled today that will have to be cancelled without a fix. Well Options are always a nice thing. I am sure plenty of people here are not posting to have an option added right away ( since that would take longer than the event lasts) but they do so in order to have options for the next year’s April fool’s day and so on. Not everyone enjoys the same things, and that was pointed out with last year’s bobbleheads. Forums are, a place for players to share their opinions after all , and I don’t see why everyone should be forced to participate in the April’s fool’s day. People have different schedules and different ways to perceive “fun” Did you like the joke? perfect , enjoy it to your heart’s content! No need to try and force everyone to see things your way though. I know Anet tends to do that since gw1 , every year on that day ( and I happen to appreciate their effort) , but I admit I disliked last year’s bobbleheads and this year’s prank isn’t really my shtick…. thus, options is the way to go for everyone to stay happy.

False. I rarely get involved in complaint threads on the side of Anet. When I do it is often because people are blowing things out of proportion. Check my post history, all 89 pages. You will see I have posted my fair share of complaints as well.

That said, this is a one day joke and people are acting like it has destroyed the game forever. I won’t ever support that stance because it is, well, silly.

It’s kind of your own guild’s fault for scheduling a meeting on April Fools day when pranks like this on April Fools day aren’t exactly new for Anet. Didn’t anyone in your guild think, “hey, maybe we should schedule this on a different day since it’s pretty likely anet will pull a prank on april 1st?” guess not.

I’m an rper, my chosen mode of play is unplayable. And maybe they’ll learn to put in a option for those of us who found it amusing at first, but quickly became annoyed with it. Sorry there are people out there who don’t want to endure a joke for a day or more, but we do exist.

You have 364 other days where you can RP all you want.
This is a SINGLE day. Is it really that much of an issue? And if it is, maybe it would be good to simply take a break from the game for a day and do something else instead?

Why should they bother spending more time than necessary on something that will only ever be available for a single day?

An RP’er would find a way to work this effect INTO their RP. An evil spell by a sorcerer, a potion that tainted a water supply, a bad batch of ale. Try having fun with it.

The implementation of the bobblehead event in 2014 was not based off of EU server time and happened (IIRC) an hour or two before 12:00 EST. We are normally scheduled to do events on PST time because of the bulk core of our membership. Which, in 2014, was not a foreseeable problem before the superserver rollovers and general changes to shard server times.

I mean…it really doesn’t matter to me. You guys can keep saying its our fault for continuing on our regular schedule that we’ve had over the past two years. We honestly don’t care about you trying to say we’re wrong for wanting a fix. Please keep bumping the thread, thank you.

For reference this thread mirrors the bobble head thread from last year:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/April-Fools-Bobble-Heads/

To sum it up, it is a one day thing. Some people didn’t like it but it was not changed due to some outrage. In fact they even sell the bobble head laboratory in the gem store. I drop it often in newbie zones just to see people trip out.

If you can’t stand a one day prank then take the day off. It is that simple. It might even be of some benefit to step away from an online game if such things are troubling.

Soldiers have been killed in wars quite a lot as well. Those that mean that Mordremoth should not have destroyed the Pact, but rather invited them for tea or something?

It’s the time frame that makes it offensive. If your grandfather died on a ship that was sunk, along with many others… you would not find an emote released the same week of a sailor saluting and slowly sinking into the ground as offensive? Maybe play some “wa-wa-wa” music while you’re at it.

Oh, it is all terrible and all that. But a company can’t build a game around that. Since there is ALWAYS things happening.

People are being killed daily by bombs or rifles or whatever. Cities are being bombarded. People are starving. People are being abused or tortured. Every single day.

The only reason people react now is because it is a well-published thing happening in a western country. Had the same thing happened in Africa people would have already forgotten about it more or less.
