Please make SAB available more frequently
I really, really can’t understand why it isn’t permanent.
This system just encourages people to grind it as much as possible, rather than just casually enjoy it. We don’t need to turn off other modes or features to keep them interesting (can you imagine if PvP was available 20 days a year?), and SAB is exactly the kind of pick up and play activity that people will log in for a quick run at. The original Super Mario Bros is still fun 30 years later for a reason.
Throw in a time based leaderboard for all three modes and leave it on all year I say.
Anet,PLEASEEEEE!! We need more SAB!!! More SAB means less grind and more happy people!!!!

I agree, more time to get those super(ior) skins. With SAB the true end game, for me, is finally here (disclaimer: kitten at jumping, and still loving it).
Ditto make it permanent, zero reason to remove it, or have it as a festival. Its just a fun mini game and something to do other then kill stuff like there other activities (Sanctum Sprint, Crab Toss, etc.) We should be allowed to just jump in game and play it on our time, not just during 3 weeks of the year.
Limiting it to those 3 weeks does make it any funner, it just means everyone has to cram to get their play time in on those 3 weeks. Please Anet learn from the whole HOT map waiting issue.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease

Because permanent would cause a lot of problems (item flooding, not enough people to get a group together as they’re already bored).
To me it’s no grind at all – I only wanted one skin and have it.
I was just thinking about how to explain to you that this is no grind when I realized that this is in fact the first time in a long while where there’s really no grind.
You have 3 sets of achievements ,the “grand prize” for 2 of them is a title, otherwise you get AP and that was it. Also you have the daily achievements – that could be seen as a grind but you get your reward after 8 completed days and the event is up for 19 days – so you have enough time to get at least one of the skins.
A lot of people like having a list that suggests them what to do. I do as well as it gave me the reason to really explore SAB and I was honestly baffled how much love the creators put in it. It’s a really well done “minigame” – just enjoy it, you don’t need to do it.

This is what I’ve been trying to say the whole time.
SAB is a game mode that is a pick-up and play. By making it a limited time once a year or so then it becomes a GRIND since you want to get everything and you can’t due to the limited time you have to play it. I want to play SAB when I have time and when I’m in the mood for it, not when I’m told I have to play or else I’d be punished missing it. =(
Please make SAB Permenant!
Thank you!
Because permanent would cause a lot of problems (item flooding, not enough people to get a group together as they’re already bored).
Item flooding isn’t really a “problem”. No one worries about other skins being available all year. Also, SAB is one of the few areas of the game where actual effort/skill over grind is required to earn rewards, so it would only increase items in the sense of allowing people with less free time to get them, and allow people to get them casually rather than in a big three week grind. Which is actually fairer than the current system.
As for grouping… SAB is again one of the few areas in the game where grouping isn’t that important (and actually detrimental in some cases).
If SAB was permanent, I would never play it. I find that it gets boring really fast.

You probably don’t, anet does and those who worked towards them or even bought them to resell them do worry as well. Also, there is probably no content which gives you exclusive, sellable skins all year – so this would be a first or the skins should be removed – would be a solution as well.

Didn’t you just call it grind? Or do you consider it grind because it’s “only” up for 19 days?
And you can grind this as well, if you like – it doesn’t really need skill to get the basic weapon skins. If you’re after the unsellable versions or AP you have to have some skill (thank god people on youtube already solved everything).

Yes, but a lot of people like it if there’s a lot of other people around or they just like it better not to do things alone.
Once a year for a few weeks is fine but I don’t want it permanently.
I really, really can’t understand why it isn’t permanent.
Keep in mind the only reason SAB is even back at all is to be a bandaid on the gaping wound that is the complete lack of content coming out right now.
The last year that it was up (from what I remember, correct me if I’m wrong, was so long ago) they had it in April and then again in September. I’d like it to be that way again.
Because permanent would cause a lot of problems (item flooding, not enough people to get a group together as they’re already bored).
Item flooding? Correct me if i am wrong but the Skins from SAB are account bound, so I don’t see how any thing would flood the TP.

Since all the SAB maps are 5 man should those people want to go with a group getting 4 more wouldn’t be hard.
I still can’t see why people are against it being permanent, should you not want to play just don’t go in.
After some discussion with people I know most of us thought the best solution would be twice a year ~1 month per slot. Having it all year would make it lose that special feeling (and concentrated population) that comes with festivals, but with the amount of stuff to do 20 days once a year is simply not enough.
Don’t cry, Signet of Mercy. Others may forget you, but I will always remember.
Our deficiencies may be overcome by practice and self-discipline.

Seems as if that was changed, yes – they weren’t before, you can still buy them off the TP.
If events aren’t permanently I have an initative to do them – I miss the wintersday JP, but as long as I know it’s going to come back I’m fine.
Anet please don’t.
This festival nature is a huge turnoff for me. I don’t want to get too into a game mode that’s going to disappear after a few days anyway. I’d be much more inclined to play it if I could do so at my own pace.
I think 1-month-a-year, in April, is fine. Though next year they better have World 3-2, 3-3 and 4-1 ready. Meaning all of it. I mean GW2 isn’t fresh any more, I want to see the end of SAB at some point. :s
Agreed. At the rate I’m going, I won’t be able to get the blue skin in time before the event is over and I would like to get them all!
Also it will means I can take my take on trying the other achievement (I loath world 2 due to how long and hard it is).
For all those wanting it to be permanent, three words: Super Mario World.
Same game, except you can play it forever, you get a camera that is not drunk, and you get a jump mechanic that is slick rather than clunky.
Regardless of that, given that it looked like SAB was never ever coming back maybe you should just be happy that it is now an annual festival. Festivals are always welcome – they bring a bit of variety. It would not feel so special if it was permanent and I suspect that it would quickly become stale, because there is not really that much gameplay in there.
Most folk will not get all the skins this time around. That means they have something to do the next time around, and something to look forward to….

The game really isn’t very much like Super Mario(and I think you got the wrong Mario anyway as World is 2D and doesn’t have a camera). It’s like a 3D Clash at Demonhead, which really isn’t available anywhere else.
That said, I’m already tired of it and I don’t why people choose to keep grinding at it after boredom and instead wait for it to come back next year.

Oh, now you’ve got me thinking. I’ve definitely played a few 3D Marios on GameCube and (iirc) SNES but I’ve been playing Mario games since before he was called Mario so I get the names somewhat confused. I’ve also played a zillion other platformers that went 3D at some point and somewhere amongst those is one that SAB reminds me hugely of. I’d have sworn it was a Mario one.
Anyhow, my point still stands. SAB (and the rest of the game) has a dreadful camera system for jumping stuff. There are times when you need to make a jump but your best view just shows you an extreme close-up of the wall, or the tree, or your feet. You end up shuffling towards the platform edge just to help the camera. It’s a problem that was solved a decade or two ago by other games so I’m not sure why GW2 is quite so bad at it. So I get the cuteness and the novelty of SAB but for that type of game play there are much better games out there (and maybe an excuse to buy an antique console ;p)

I’d like to point out that the game now has camera collision slider and other camera options it did not used to have. Besides, SAB has the least of these issues compared to the rest of the game anyways. Yeah it is not perfect but the engine was developed for an MMO not a platformer… all things considered it does all right.
Besides where else does one get to play an classic inspired platformer with five people. Or IWBTG with 5 people, because that is what Tribulation mode is, if that is your cup of tea.
I don’t think sending players to other games is a good idea. I also doubt Sab is pulling many players from Hot for long. It sure does seem popular with the more casual players though.
I think four weeks, twice a year, would keep the interest of the players who enjoy it and it’s unlikely they would earn all the rewards too quickly.
Personally, until LW season 3 starts, I have already left HoT far behind me… the only reason I am logging in right now is because there is an update, one that I happen to also like a great deal, but that is just a bonus…
I mean for someone who doesn’t want to raid or do PvP there was literally nothing to do in this game, before this update came along, since I was finished with HoT. I mean sure I could have gone for legendaries but I have the one I want already (and in light of recent news, well legendaries…).
I was actually looking at other games to fill the gap waiting for season 3. But now I am back, at least until the 19th, we’ll have to see what the April update brings us… who knows maybe it’ll change HoT maps enough to make them appealing again.

How about following the other April Fool’s gimmicks and selling an item that gives you access permanently? You can plob down a SAB anywhere and people can iteract with it to go in.

Never going to happen, as nice as it would be, because that would mean they have to make sure the thing never breaks between intermittent updates when the festival itself is not active.
Please prove me wrong ANet? I know it is not going to happen though since this is a whole in-game event area not just some graphical gimmick like bobble heads or aviator.

I paid for the core game. I paid for HoT. Both break between updates. Why would SAB need stricter quality control?

That’s not really what I meant, I mean since it is not a piece of core content they probably don’t want to dedicate any resources to keeping it functional between the times the festival itself is going on.
If they made it accessible permanently in any form they would have to at least be prepared to fix emergent issues as they come up, however, if it remains as a festival they can and only have to do it whenever it is time for the festival to come around.
What I am saying is, it’s more cost effective to ArenaNet to keep it as a festival with limited window of access. Doesn’t make me happy at all, but that is the reality of the situation.
