Please put lvl 80 scroll in cash shop.
They wont because it would ruin the game economy.

They will because it will make them money.
Being level 80 doesn’t hurt the game economy.
I’d leave so fast.
I know WoW already announced they’re making 90s in the store.
In saying that, I don’t think GW2 is ready for that, yet. Even with WoW, the levelling is a lot longer, harder and restrictive to levelling in GW2.
No thanks, it doesn’t take overly long to lvl. Grab some booster, some food, and some oils/stones. And it’s nothing but a few map clears.

It does, considering how much people use crafting to lvl their alts. If people dont need to do that, most mid and low tier mats (except the ones that are used in end game crafting) would simply have no value anymore. This would result in new players getting no gold value for their gathered mats anymore.
The other way to lvl is to simply play the game, if players could buy their way to lvl 80 via gems, low and medium lvl maps would loose even more population than they have already.

Exactly. My only character right now is a human and despite having uncovered a substantial portion of the map the majority of it having been done after reaching 80 means there are many zones i’d still like to go back and experience fully experiencing by leveling a different race. Its already hard enough to find people in low and mid level zones and allowing people to skip them would make leveling for beginners and alt lovers even more lonely than at present.
I believe this thread is less about the gem store and insta-80 and more about how Cond Build is apparently OP in WvW.
<cough>Look i only wanna roam wvw solo. i dont want to do the pve thing
I roam solo on my lvl 52 Mesmer. I see no issue I win some I die some…
I like to WvW as well. Have been group PvPing since DAoC.
GW2 is the easiest leveling I’ve ever encountered in an MMO in 14 years.
2-4 days will get you a new 80.
Your other choice is SPvP if you want instant gratification.
- 50 alts
I didn’t read OP- only the title because what else is there to know? However I didn’t have a set opinion on this. Reading through the posts made me realize that a good discussion will leave me with exactly that: no opinion, no favorite side to take. Omg I so missed the point of good discussions all that time! but.. what is that? What did he say?

LMAO. Apparently perfectly placed cynism can change the entire subject of a discussion. xD If you don’t believe me, re-read the replies from there ’til here.
It’s already there. Buy enough black lion key and you can get enough Tome of Knowledge.
Thanks for supporting the cashshop
This item is already there indirectly.

If they allow you to buy an item to go straight to level 80:
- It would make the level 20 scroll nearly worthless, would it not? There would be little value to them, and they’d have to give something else out when a character reaches the 1 year point. (Not that some people don’t find them useless already.)
- What would be a fair price for it? It would have to cost at least 2000 gems, maybe more, for something like that. Anything less, and it’s massively under-priced compared to everything else in the gem store. At which point, who would really want it?
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Let me give a brief account of modern attempts to combat the RMT industry.
Company – “Alright guys, have fun leveling your characters to XX!”
player 1 – “leveling takes too long. The first time was fun though.”
player 2 – “Yeah. I’m gonna go pay real money to get power leveled from some shady dude on the net.”
Company – “Ok, how about we offer to level your character to 80 for real money? You know, legit and stuff.”
player 1 – “Pssssh, what is this P2W ish you’re givin’ me?”
Company – “But you just said..”
player 1 – “shhhhh, no more talking.”
Being level 80 doesn’t hurt the game economy.
“cheating” to it does. People leveling is what brings most of the mid-tier mats in. Sadly, people are circumventing this from champ farming to level anyway, hence the ridiculous price of most things T3/4.

Company “Everything you loved about the prequel!”
Game : Very little of what we loved about the prequel existing in the sequel, bar maybe the lore?
Player : “What happened to everything we loved?”
Company : Oh things change and blah blah kittening blah blah, deal with it umad? Gem store"
Player : " But you said-"
Company “Shhhhh, we run this kitten”
There will be different desires from different players, but a company’s best interest is catering for all player types.
A quick hit to level 80 for money affects NO one but that person.
It cuts an 8 hour crafting session in to an instant level max, while the funds go to the company rather than the anvil.

That might be true for common mats (wood/ore/cloth etc) but not for fine crafting mats (blood, skales, venom sacs, etc) or rare mats (slivers, shards, fragments, etc).

I’d leave so fast.
Mind if I ask, but why do you all want to leave, just because others get a faster way to level up or skip levels?
How does somebody’s else level effect you?
They can already choose how fast they want to level to a certain extent. So how would this be any different.
Some people dont enjoy leveling.
MMOs started off with no character levels like GW2 uses. So it can work.
But after Everquest all other MMOs used this Level grind system.
Its not fun for all people that enjoy MMOs or RPGs. So why not make both groups happy and allow them to choose if they want levels or not on their account/character?
so roughly how much gold would it take to buy all the mats to level up to 80?
221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.
Yes please, I’m so tired of having to level the alts over and over.

Doesn’t matter, I would be playing EVE if I wanted a clicking simulator or Microsoft Excel.

curious about a gold estimate for mats to do some gem/gold rates and conversions, so do you have a rough idea on cost?

Sigh. The flippers and the crafting power level players are the only ones who would be adversely affected by this. The economy is so screwed up already by these two sets. There is nothing to keep the flippers in line with the rest of the population in wealth growth, and the power level crafters just feed these people money.
Honestly, why do you think it would affect the economy at all outside of those two subsets. If you play the game, you get your mats. You don’t need to go buy them. And for the people who are actually out there playing and populating the zones and not sitting in LA or doing the champ trains, they deserve to get paid more for their crafting mats.
Being 80 doesn’t preclude me from hitting the mid level zones, as being level 40 doesn’t guarantee that they will even go there. People go where they want or where Anet leads them.
I’m against the idea of instant 80’s, but bringing up the economy is laughable.

Do you not craft? You need the fine mats to level crafting.
And the rare ones are next to worthless at low levels used for gimmicky potions and horrible sigils and runes.
Yes please, I’m so tired of having to level the alts over and over.

I think about 130 gold to get every crafting profession to 400. Which will get you to level56. If you have a birthday booster that’ll give you free lvl20. You should be able to refine 4 level without spending much by leveling most profession from 400-425.
You can also spend 800$ real money on black lion chest. That might give you enough tome of knowledge to get to lvl80. Or 600$ if you have a birthday booster.
