Since immersion is important to the narrative and personal story, name, gender and appearance changes can be understood in the story, but if you changed from a human with Noble, Commoner, and Streetrat specific content to an Asuran with college specific content, you can’t simply rewite the backstory.

i don’t think everyone cares about the lore.
just make it that an asura came out with an invention to permanently alter one’s race. and there we have a race change.
