This game is not raid oriented.

This game has no tank, healer, DPS set up “Holy Trinity”.

This game’s ‘End Game’ is not designed around gear grinding for micro stat changing piece after piece.

There is no ‘End Game’ based on how this game is ever evolving with it’s Living Story and how a level 80 (max) player can still experience all the lower leveled content, with appropriate rewards, based on a down-scaling system.

This game has tons of content for players to enjoy at max level with the list to include*: world exploration, jumping puzzles, WvWvW, sPvP, dungeons, Fractals, mini-dungeons, economy trading, Keg Brawl, Costume Brawling, dynamic events, guild missions, and more. *(Mentioned is permanent content, not including this month’s SAB each other month’s Living Story content).

So, please, stop asking for Raiding or ‘End Game content’ based on your definition of what that may be. This game is not about that in the least and will not change it’s direction just to appease to the crowds that like that sort of thing. There are many, many other games out there that have their exact goal to be Raiding as to what the players aim for; you’re more than welcome to go play one of those game. But this game will still be here, still be what it is, and still be enjoyable to those that want something different.

i don’t ask for raids, i ask for ANYTHING to keep me busy in pve, there’s nothing… gw1 had 12 man teams and that’s an 05 game… don’t see why gw2 couldn’t finally have its first hard dungeons with at least 10 players.

I don’t think anyone wants raids in the traditional sense …

I think us Pvers are all sort of scratching our heads as to what we’re supposed to be doing at 80.

This game was supposed to be aesthetically driven, yet there is such a lack of armor skins that most of us have been through them all and are hungry for something to do.

I want a reason to do a dungeon multiple times. Why not throw some really cool armor and weapon skins in there off the last bosses?

I want a reason to do a jumping puzzle more than once.
Why not give JP chests a chance to drop really cool town clothes?

Why not revamp the dragons into challenging world raid content that it should have been in the first place? Then make the rewards worth while!

Sorry but what you listed for end game content most of us exhaust while leveling. The only thing they really have for end game atm is WvW, Legendary Grind, Fractals….and maybe LS. I will admit the SAB was kinda fun the first time I ran it, but it’s just temporary anyway.

BTW I have no desire for raids.

raid [reyd]
noun
1. a sudden assault or attack, as upon something to be seized or suppressed.

Private/Coordinated raids: Guild Bounty’s and Guild Challenges.

Public raids: Tequatl, The Shatterer, Claw of Jormag, Shadow Behemoth, Fire Elemental, The Giant Jungle Wurm, Maw, Golemn Mark II, Mega Destroyer, Ulgoth the Modniir, and many more.

Can we please just stop with the annoying topics about raids not being in Guild Wars 2, because they are already there and for those that do not think these events are “considered” raids, you are wrong by the definition and the defiance of gaming before and after instanced raids.

The types of “raids” we do not have in the game are instanced, contested, or traditional.

I dunno, some of the most epic video game experiences i’ve ever had were in the old 40 man raids of vanilla WoW. I think raid content would be cool, if properly done. The only thing my guild gets organized for is WvW.

If we had a reason to get together one night a week to try to tackle difficult raid content over the course of a few months, that would be welcome in my opinion.

You guys should join my guild (BlackWater Vanguard on Yak’s Bend) when we do our Meta Event rushes. There are a LOT of DEs that no one takes part (because no one is tracking a timer) that gives the event chest, and some of them scale to a ridiculous level.

There’s one event in Orr that’s particularly hilarious. We had almost a hundred people in the group, which scaled the event up to two Champion Abominations. Now, each of these abominations were as tall as a dragon, and they are HARD. Like they charge through the zerg and everyone in its way is dead. We wiped the zerg at least twice taking these things down until we figured out the proper attack/dodge/revive rotation.

When people say “Raids” they generally just mean challenging large scale organized PvE content. Just because game 1 and game 2 had their raids in a certain way does not necessarily mean that GW2 has to follow in those same footsteps.

You don’t need trinity for a raid. A raid is just larger group content, for example, guild missions, which are being rolled out as they are made.

So nobody needs to ask for raids, they already exist.

Also there are world mini dungeons, and I did read in a thread a dev was saying that upcoming jumping puzzles would keep getting harder. Maybe at some point they get up to dungeon difficulty.

I would think a non subscription game is held to a different standard than one that requires a monthly subscription. The non subscription game should not be expected to keep up with the ravenous appetite of pve players who are used to getting that from subscription games.

I think the level of content GW2 provides and the rate at which they add more is pretty awesome, given they don’t expect me to pay them monthly to keep logging in. I certainly never expected 10 man or larger instances or raids. That’s not how the game was described at inception, so why would that expectation be there?

Raiding does not have to be attached to gear progression in the old mindset (addition of stat gain) but instead can be rewarded with visual gear progression (ANet’s basis of the game, anyways).

The holy trinity, while a good basis of design from a raiding conceptual standpoint, is not required for creating a raid scenario. We already see this in open world bosses (although a bad example, because 100% of them are a complete faceroll and nearly impossible to wipe on).

Appropriate rewards on a downscaling system? You are kittening high. I have never got ONE piece of good loot from doing low areas. EVER.

At the end of the day, I paid my 60 dollars to this company, so who are you to tell me what or what I shouldn’t want in the game. Just because raiding is in a game doesn’t mean you have to do it, AKA it’s optional. Just like every jumping puzzle, every dynamic event, every legendary weapon, and every dungeon in the game.

Since so many people are asking for it (hence you had to make this thread) don’t you think it would be in ANet’s better interest to satiate their customers?

Exactly this. If you don’t like raids, don’t do them. That doesn’t mean some of us can’t want them. Again, not in the sense that WOW had them. They don’t have to be tied to gear at all. I would just like to do an instanced dungeon with more than 5 people.

I don’t like jumping puzzles…that doesn’t mean I create threads demanding people stop asking for better/harder jumping puzzles. shrug We are all free to wish for whatever we want.

The answer is a flat faced: NO! Just because a kid stops his feet, shouts, and cries, that doesn’t mean that his mommy should buy him the candy bar.

A.Net has a set objective to the design of this game, a set audience that they’re aiming. Neither of those have the idea of Instanced Raiding in mind. If people want that kind of thing, good on them….they just have to go to another game to get it. It’s not in this game, nor is it expected to be. To continually request the game change it’s design an absurd, rude gesture that’s equivalent to spitting in the developer’s face.

So yes, you paid $60 for this game AS IT IS. You did NOT pay $60 to try to dictate how the developers create the game.

P.S. Yes, to those that have tried coming out with the Merriam Webster Dictionary, I know this game has raiding. I was referring to the continued requests to add in “Raids”, as in the 10,20,30,40-man group instanced fights against 1,000,000,000HP mobs for ‘phat lutz’. You are so wrong, you couldn’t be more wrong. The ONLY thing Anet have proved since this game launched is that they do in fact read the forums and they do change their game, the entire purpose of the game and in fact their own mission statement based on waht they perceive the majority of their players want. Because, they are good at business.

They said there would be no gear progression, there now is gear progression.

So, I bet you my entire life savings that if the people wanting raids became vocal enough…raids would be introduced.

But hey, keep posting, because thats how it works. But if thers more posts for raids than against, then raids you are gonna get.

People want to log in, play and say “wow, that was fun”.
Anet focuses too much on immersion while at the same time completely breaks it with super skins, cartoonish backpacks (by all means, I own all and love them, but just making a point). People just want to have fun, hardly anyone cares about the story and the world.

Hell, how many of you actually know who’s against who and why in the game?

It’s quite funny, because you are the one coming off as a “toddler stomping your feet”.

ANet had a set design for the game .. dynamically changing world, worthwhile events, etc etc..

And guess what. A quarter of the population is standing around in LA chatting and playing the lottery, another quarter is grinding FotM (for skins that raids could reward) OR grinding out CoF path 1 and screwing the economy. Another quarter is in WvW (getting nearly no rewards at all) and the left over quarter is scattered everywhere else.

Not really what ANet envisioned, is it? But guess what.. the game turns into what the players make it. Devs can only have so much a vision for how they would like things to turn out, but guess what, things don’t always go according to plan…

You DON’T consider “dragon events” RAIDS… you think of raids as rewarding “phat loots from killing bosses with 1mil HP”. You’re kittening high again. Please tell me that if rare/exotic loot was NOT dropped from these dragons people would keep doing them… LOL. It’s already all about the loot.

I like how more the majority of that list is not max level content, or content that you don’t even play your character for, ie. SAB and Brawls.

So for people who spend the time to gear their characters and learn their skills, and who also want large-number coordinated play, that leaves WvW.

I think anyone who has ever raided has had some bad experiences with it, but nothing is better than when your raid group (say 24, as in EQ2) beats a mob for the first time for your guild, for your server, or over all servers!
Not adding raid content will really limit GW2, especially if you aren’t a fan of PVP. Its nothing against other ways to enjoy an MMO, its just one more option out there for players.
Also, raid gear does not have to be so much better than group or solo items, in case anybody is worried about not having great gear just because they choose not to raid… it could just be implemented to benefit a raid rather than give group or solo buffs, just a couple thoughts here. Raid content is an obvious membership multiplier in my opinion.

There’s absolutely no reason why GW2 should or has to follow the WoW model or the Everquest model or [insert MMO here] model for raiding. I’d love to see how ArenaNet would design raids for this game.

For a game with no “Raids” there sure are alot of 5+ man raid content around. Unless were back to the foolish WoW mindset that “Raids” are 20-40 man dungeons where a Tank holds a boss in place with a few Healers while the rest of us go afk.

Best post about WoW by someone that has never played WoW yet.

Clearly you’ve never done “looking for raid” in WoW. What PearlGore described is exactly what LFR is. You have about 3 healers, 2 tanks, and about 20 other people doing a typical raid (for example, Dragon Soul).

Anyone that isn’t a tank or a healer, can pretty much just sleep through the whole raid except for a few key points where you may need to move or hit a button. It was Blizzard’s way of making raiding more accessible to the average player, complete with a tier of gear between the non-raid gear and the “real” raid gear.

Of course, that doesn’t describe raids in the traditional sense in WoW at all (i.e., everything outside of LFR). Most fight mechanics are far more involved than the tank standing in place while the healers heal and the rest of the group goes afk. I didn’t get into raiding too much in the 6 months I played WoW but the Dragon Soul fights (especially when engaging Deathwing himself) were pretty involved and fairly well-thought out, especially in the 10 player version of the raid instance. If one person went afk or didn’t know the mechanics of the fights, they could cause the whole team to wipe.
