It’d be nice to be able to hide outfit shoulders, although for this particular outfit it is based on the GW1 design so they tried to keep it similar.

You are meant to look like a Mursaat. Shoulders and all.
Wonder when they’re gonna add Floating animations.

Whats wrong with “gigantic” shoulders? They must be large or you cannot see them properly.

Agreed. Always hated that about the-game-that-shall-not-be-named and it’s inevitable influence on other MMO’s art direction in this regard. It looks clown-like. Hate it.
Ayup, a lot of the shoulders being released nowadays are just over-huge. It’s not even spite against game-that-shall-not-be-named, but a semi-ridiculous aesthetic that I had assumed unnecessary in Guild Wars 2. At onset, GW2 leaned more toward the sincere and real-fantasy. ..and now it’s butterfly wings and shoulders you could staple together into a canoe.
It’s a shame, too, because some of the outfits weren’t so bad, excepting the ridiculous shoulders.
Many alts; handle it!

/signed. Please stop the huge shoulders. I got a new exotic shoulder drop for my Rev and when I put them on I actually exclaimed out loud: “wow”! And that was not in a good way. If your shoulder pieces are bigger than your head (not counting wing-type projections), that is too big. I didn’t choose the Radiant shoulders because they were grotesquely large. The Hellfire shoulders are almost small enough to not be ridiculous.
Its really too bad because the only “normal” size shoulders are really plain.

The giant shoulders of both outfits and separate armor pieces makes me think of WoW (not that I dislike WoW, it was my first MMO. I just moved away from it when I no longer had the free time to justify paying a subscription), and I don’t see GW2 as being WoW. Some shoulders, though, look great on certain races, genders, or even body builds, but not all. I usually hide shoulder armor on Charr because of how oversized they look. Many shoulder pieces also have serious clipping issues (which doesn’t usually bother me unless it’s incredibly obvious 24/7).

They are to protect your shoulders. Helmets are to protect your head.

Burden of koda says “hello”. There were always huge pauldrons in this game, and the smaller/less notable skins are low-tier. It’s like weapon crafting: start with simple, go through metals that look “normal”, and then exotic is a weapon made out of pearl stuff for some reason.
A little savagery now and then is relished by the wisest men.
Don’t cry, Signet of Mercy. Others may forget you, but I will always remember.
