Well the one topic was talking about the problems with the armor skins so heres some suggestions I like to place here even though they won’t get change but its still something I like to say to the devs

one of the things I see here that are troubling is the female armor now ok I can understand to see some skin when the female character wears her armor from light to medium to heavy but not like what GW2 is showing those armors are showing 50% or more of the characters skin. That’s just wrong in the medieval times the dresses that the woman wears either covers their whole body or only shows 5% of their skin but only showing their upper chest. Now if the world of Tyria is really their like real life and you walk around in lets say Divinity’s Reach and see heros and common woman walk around with half naked clothing would that be disturbing or would you want to see what to woman suppose to wear clothing that only shows like 15% of their skin.

Now in WoW theirs no female armor that is showing a lot of skin like in GW2. I used to play WoW and all the female armor are mostly either fully covering the females body or some armor that shows some skin like up to 20% I think a little much but not ridiculously. So that’s one of the things that the dev’s should at least fix.

Secondly we do need more caster like armor like shown in WoW were ya actually look like a caster or a wizard for that matter that is actually a robe with pants under it I for one miss those kinds of armor looks.

So devs even if ya don’t fix the female armor skin issue atleast hear my second suggestion on adding some real robe armors for casters like how WoW made them and other medieval fantasy films that have robe like clothing for casters

For a game that is basically dress up simulator 2014 online, it doesn’t have a lot of options for armor looks. It seems once every 3 months a new set of cash shop only armor is released.

And yes an overwhelming majority of the female armor makes you look like a bus stop kitten lol.

I’m all for skin diversity and for the future implementation of some better-looking ones which cover more (this applies to every armor tier, frankly), however do consider a few things:

1.) Racy things sell. You know the old expression (which is blocked by the forum filter). Especially in this market. The demographic, while shifting to a broader audience, usually is fairly accepting of this type of attire for females.

2.) This game isn’t realistic. It’s high fantasy with a little bit of sci-fi and steampunk. Again, take a look at the demographic of consumers for this type of content, and its rivals. This kind of aesthetic stuff predates WoW all the way to Dungeons and Dragons in the 1970’s. Go read through some of those books and you’ll notice it’s not unique to modern fantasy games. It only makes sense to make it this way.

And of course, keep in mind that many people are quite satisfied with this. To demand a change to current content would be pretty unfair to those who invest heavily into their appearance. Lategame content is pretty much all about either dress-up or PvP/WvW, too (or both), so a large portion of people would be pretty upset with such changes. This is definitely perhaps something which could be and in some cases rightfully should be looked into (such as diversifying some of the more bland/repeated skin sets in whites/blues/greens through midgame), but asking for sweeping changes to everything wouldn’t be the best way to approach the situation.

On a little side note, also do keep in mind that this isn’t in WoW’s universe, either. Norn females actually have real lore behind them as to why they wear less clothing than other races

I agree that a woman wearing a half naked heavy armor has absolutely no problem stopping a sword blow with her cleavage…

This game doesn’t take place in a medieval time period. Perhaps it did in GW1, but it has since moved away from that setting with the event of the Asura and technological renaissance of the Charr.

If you go into the mists (pvp area) and look at the PVP locker, you’ll see that there’s a pretty even mix between revealing and conservative robes. I know this because my Sylvari tends to be as naked as possible while my human dresses like she has some semblance of modesty. When you set your perspective to look for both, you’ll actually see both.

The ratio between revealing armor to fully covered armor is about 1:3 in GW2, pls go to PvP locker and see for yourself, or browse any GW2 armor gallery.

Problem is we saw a lot of player with revealing armor running around, because players love it. Even if Anet decided to release fully covered armor for the next 4, 5, 6, 7 updates, people don’t buy it from gem store, they will just use the revealing armor instead. Its your choice to use non revealing armor, there are plenty in game already. Why don’t Anet sell caster robe in gem store? Because the sales volume is a lot lower.

Again, all about that demographic.

Granted, a lot of the full-covering armor sets are rather unattractive. See pirate medium armor sets :T

Just hope that it will have more awesome clothes for Charr.

My female elementalist handles with fire, I need a fireproof armor for her safety. Luckely, Mhenlo’s Armor and the head armor from the order of whisper let only her face free.

Seriously, if anyone would like to run in Victoria’s Secrets armor he/ she should do, but I would like to have more covering and beautiful armor.

Ok I guess I may have over did it on the current skins being so skimpy I would say it but I still want to see more Robe type of armor for casters I missed those even with some areas were the female skin shows heh I don’t mind that.

Hmm, I must be playing a different game than some of y’all.

To begin, GW2 is a fantasy setting with steampunk and arcane-technical elements, not a medieval setting.

Second, here are links showing the various armor sets in the game for human females. There is a good range of skin coverage in all three, with a fair number of full coverage sets. Heavy in particular offers a lot more full coverage than skin-showing options.

Finally, there’s skimpy and there’s skimpy. Nothing in any of those sets is skimpy by comparison to armor in, say, Tera.

My personal problem with the male and female armour sets is the big difference in style. The Phalanx heavy armour skin e.g. looks great on a male character a fully plated armour making you look like a tank. However compare this with the female set and you get a “skimpy” looking outfit showing a lot of skin and also an open helmet instead of a closed helmet. This is one of the things I am personally anoyed about having armour sets which look great on one gender and looking awfull and quite different on the other gender.
An other example of a bad female armour design is the light armour temple set for humans. For male characters you get a fur lined suit with a lot of accessories making you look like a real priest. Female characters get a corset with a short skirt and a pair of hold ups without all the accessories.
I cannot quickly find a set for which the female design is better. My suggestion would be the Tier 3 Human light armour. Altough the female design is shows a lot of skin.

I am certainly not against showing of some skin on my female characters but ArenaNet tends to have the “skimpier” designs towards the higher tiers of gear. In which case you have to start searching for the right armour and maybe even transmute it to get the right stats.

About the real world and the game world these are two different worlds. Guildwars has its own timeline not quite comparable to our timeline so you cannot link any time period to guildwars.
I sometimes wonder how these armours would protect you in the real world and conclude they wouldn’t. Then I think who in the real world would make an armour with spider venom to get extra Condition damege, Power and Precision, no one so the worlds aren’t comparable

I don’t have a problem with “skimpy” outfits as that is a personal preference for each player. I agree robes would be nice touch. I hope they continue to add armors fairly frequently. Although, I do wish they had more “options” with the armors themselves. ie the option to choose long sleeve, short sleeve or no sleeve. Short or long coats/robes. Short, knee length or long pants/skirts. Thigh high, calf or ankle boots.

On the flip side, can we have more light armor sets for male characters that are not basically a dress?

For both male and female characters, I would like to see more light armor that included just pants and not the long flowing coats/dresses that permeate most sets.
