It just seems unreasonably difficult to do, especially considering how easy all the other jp’s are. It was hard enough just to get the magnificent chest, but to then have to turn around, do the whole thing again, only this time its even harder, just to get to the goggles is maddening.

Its 6-7 min length and complexity alone wouldn’t be a problem, but there’s too many places where a mistake will have you wp, enemies respawn unusually quickly, and the enemies on and around the ship can often cause perma combat even though they’ve disengaged.

Please do something to make the diving goggles potion of this jp more easily accomplished.

It doesn’t need fixing, it just means you take the time, it’s pretty easy when you learn it. It is supposed to be challenging. I would advise if you’re struggling that much, take a mesmer friend

30 minutes after I posted this, I managed to complete it. My hate still has not subsided however. My stance remains firm.

I did it relatively easy, personally, multiple times when I was bored and felt like helping a guildy do it on my Mesmer. I’ve done all of the JPs in game, and even the ones nolonger in game multiple times and none of them are really unreasonable, outside of the sheer length of Tribulation SAB W2Z2-3.
Hardest part to me is the pillars under the ship which apparently I learned are skippable if you jump on the pipes below the end of the pillars and use blink next to the platform. That and succeeding the diving challenge since I had to keep porting people back up to retry it. Only way to do it generally stems from watching the video 100x first. The vertical bouncy pads also succeed more often if you start running forward 0.5 seconds before it triggers. The horizontal ones work better if you make sure you’re standing on them only while they’re completely still.

I respectfully disagree that its a “pretty easy when you learn it”. The JP is yes, that’s not the issue. The issue with the diving goggles is that it is 100% a blind jump. I’m a self proclaimed JP pro. Was a SAB trib mode junkie, have done most of the ridiculous SW coins (omg talk about hard, those make every JP look like walking a straight line through a field of daisies).

Getting to the top of the JP isn’t the problem for most people. The problem is that once you get to the top you have to literally jump (walking off seems to be the best chance at success rather than jumping) blindly in the hopes you make it through that perfect spot that won’t kill you on one of the beams coming down. And when you die? You have to WP all the way back and restart.

It takes all of the skill out of jumping. You can’t practice blind jumping. The best you can hope for is to watch videos of people doing it and try to mimic it exactly. I’m certain that isn’t the intent of the diving goggles.

I’m fine with there being a difficult jump that you have to perfect, but you have no way to gauge how you are doing, there’s not enough time to adjust while falling. You either jump in the right spot or 95% you don’t and you have to start over. That’s not skill. Worse yet, what you’re jumping through is a bland “rock” type texture with no reference marks whatsoever. You get back up to the top and you have no idea where you jumped last time that killed you.

That’s the problem with it. Not the JP, it’s the blind leap you have to make with the small window of success coupled with a heavy time commitment for re-attempt (heavy relative to all other JPs). It’s one of few things in GW2 that make me rage.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

Generally I agree. It isn’t even just the location you are landing on, it’s also all the obstacles in the way. I wouldn’t mind one or the other, but both makes it difficult.

I have a friend who is a pro jumper. First day of halloween he did the mad king’s clock tower first time. He has gotten every other diving goggle in the game. He still hasn’t been able to get this one, and it’s driving him nuts.
