Q:

Hello everyone, I want to get some infos about the next expansion’s performance if possible.

I’m playing the game on a low tier laptop. Although I don’t have any issues on GW vanilla, I’ve experience FPS drops on HoT maps and especially some new maps such as the guild hall. So I’m wandering if PaF will even be more demanding than HoT and therefore ruins the gaming experience due to performance issues. (I couldn’t participate to the betas to actually try it out)

My spec are :

- IntelCore I5-5200U @ 2.2Ghz (4 CPU)
-AMD R7 360
-4 Go Ram

(I actually meet the minimum requriement of PoF)

Thanks !

A:

Don’t use guild halls as a benchmark. Some guilds build so much decorations in one place that even the best PCs will take a big hit.

I think the best comparison will be LS3 maps as they were developed in parallel with PoF.

I agree, what was shown in PoF preview was quite similar to the LS3 maps. So, visiting Bloodstone Fen, Ember Bay, Bitterfrost Frontier, Lake Doric, Draconis Mons and Siren’s Landing should give some idea what to expect from PoF.

I’d use Draconis Mons and Siren’s Landing as the benchmarks, as they are the maps that included the graphics update that is used in Path of Fire.

I use a much worse laptop than OP’s, and worried about even meeting the new requirements; fortunately, I had no issues in the Demo.

Thus, OP should be able to play PoF if the last two maps in Season 3 are playable.

Good luck.

My 5 year old PC has 16GB RAM, how do you even want to try this today with 4GB? Don’t you have a friend who is giving away a better PC for free? We do this here often.

‘would of been’ —> wrong

Thanks a lot for the answers. As I’m a returning player, I’ve missed out the entire season 3 but I’ll definitely check them out as soon as possible.

@WARIORSCHARGEING
Yea, unfortunately I was abroad at the betas so I counldn’t have tested them. I don’t experience any crash, it’s mainly FPS drops at some point. Nope, didn’t try it.

@ProtoGunner
As mentioned before, I’m playing on a laptop not a fix PC. Although I agree that 4GB is now kind of outdated even for laptops but 16GB RAM is still too much. You won’t expect to buy a laptop of 16GB with a decent video card and CPU under 1000 euros in my country.

oh ok well their is some things you can do to give your laptop a bit of a boost tho

and if you got the money and you got a good computer shop in the UK where you live at . they can add and even up grade your laptops memory very easy maybe even upgrade you to a solid state drive even

was going to say s/s/d drive but putting it as just s.s.d drive brings up the ssd drive LOL

no new system upgrades coming

Please stop suggesting we upgrade our PC since that is not the solution. The solution that will work for EVERYONE? Tell Anet to update and optimize the game engine!!!

Depending on your laptop you can add additional RAM yourself. Typical laptops are setup to allow RAM/Storage to be upgraded. Of course some are done in ways that don’t let you, but hopefully yours isn’t one.
