I just wanted to point out something obvious to most players which I was astonished that was misidentified by the presenters.

Most players do not group up early at events like Teq and Evolved Wurm to “Party”. We do so that we do not get locked out of a server that has the required numbers to accomplish them. The “Party” is a side effect of the boredom that coincides with waiting for long periods of time that the current system breeds.

The first bit of the video they mentioned that they don’t want players competing with each other in PvE. This happens all of the time because of mega servers when players try to do their daily.

How many of you had to compete and race to an NPC to get your daily reviver daily? How about for the aquatic slayer daily?

This is what I found incorrect so far from the first few minutes of listening to the video.

Uhm.. never, yup, pretty much never. I can go to World vs. World to do it. I can do it together with other players resurrecting NPC’s. Or with a friend who jumps to their death, then I do it for them, etc.—Only thing I “compete” for is to get into one map when Tequatl is about to begin. At certain hours you can have multiple overflows capable of taking it down, but that’s not always the case. We tend to form parties there too, in order to be able to spam Join on players in that overflow you were in, should you be so unfortunate as to disconnect. Aquatic slayer I never need to compete with anyone for, ever. I usually do that in Frostgorge Sound, I get all the enemies to myself.

I don’t know anyone that’s ever had to compete for aquatic kills… Jump into any arbitrary pond – kill stuff.
I can easilly get my 10 revives in the dungeons that I do..

That’s the difference though for aquatic, you go out of your way to a zone where very few people do it. I’m often competing for reviver because everyone is there rushing to revive the NPC’s and rarely wait for other players. You’re rushing to the NPC’s to grt credit. Same can be said about yaks and sentries in WvW.

You’re not competing with players on who gets credit or not. You’re competing for the opportunity. If you have a lot of players on the map doing the same thing and not working together, you’re pretty much competing with them. Just like how you compete with players to get into a good Teq or Wurm server.

A lot of this was not an issue before the mega servers as you could choose where you wanted to go. If I wanted to go to a low pop server, I could. I do admit that it’s still far better than other games where you compete for the tag.

You can still choose where to go, you seem to choose to go to where there are a lot of players. How is it out of your way to Waypoint to the waters of Frostgorge Sound? Or to any other Waypoint in the game with an abundance of downed NPC’s for reviving. There’s several places to do everything in the Daily requirements.

All of them of them have people rushing to do their daily. I don’t have the time lately to spending over an hour trying to do them on maps that may or may not have NPC’s to revive. The ones that do are the ones that people gravitate to. With mega servers, there are now leas servers as people get lumped together. I used to revive the golems in south Metrica but it was time consuming as you have about a ~40% chance of actually getting credit.

I don’t do dailies — they just complete by themselves, rather that trying to finish it just play.

1 dungeon = 4/5 most days
go gather for 5/5.
gg.

When I did do aquatic never had to compete nor daily revives.

Hint on how to get daily revives easily.

Nope. There’s underwater areas everywhere, and I rarely even come across another person doing it. Certainly I’ve never had to compete.

Reviver… depends where you go. If you’re with the crowd who only knows about Thaumanova, then sure. But there are plenty of other places where dead NPCs are reliably found (not to mention world events with dead players), that tend to be a lot better and involve little competition. I agree that you do usually have to go out of your way to do daily reviver, but then, the same applies to quite a lot of dailies (Dungeon, Fractal, [Regional] Slayer or Events, Activity, etc).

Although I use South Metrica for Reviver often (because it’s a key character), you’d probably be better off in North Metrica or any of several other spots in Metrica to get Reviver. Not to mention dozens of places in other maps chock full of NPCs to revive. I’ve rarely, if ever, had to compete for either Reviver or Aquatic Slayer. You might try broadening your horizons, if you find competition often.

This is the “wrong” way to do dailies, rushing. Most of the dailies can come naturally, so if lots of people are rushing, for example to Thaumanova Reactor, to get their Daily Reviver that’s their problem. Go somewhere else, do a dungeon run, WvW, PVP, random events around or World Boss hunting and you will get it. Same goes with almost every daily, the only people that “compete” for their dailies are the “I want it now!” players.
