what is the point of having mobs/adds which drop no loot?

how is killing a tough mob and getting nothing back 100% of the time fair?

we are not botters, we dont use third party software. we play it like everyone else does.

why are the anti botting/3rd party software issues affecting regular players?

when i bought this game it was stated that we can play however we want, however we desire as is. but now why implement changes that silently redirects us to the point of doing things the “Anet” way or the “QQer’s” way?

everytime a patch comes, its always because someone cannot handle certain portions of the game which was here for months. always a complain then nerf on some other class because they think its unfair. why so biased? why others can handle it and overcome but you guys complain and find a way to get a nerf?

why is there always a nerf? why is there no boost?

i rarely post on forums. exploits in my dictionary means editing memory values etc to do things that are not allowed in game.

i have just learned that farming is also an “exploit”. so what do we actually do in this game to achieve something we want? like getting a legendary or trying to fill up bank with 250 of every material? just to feel some sort of accomplishment?

can Anet and most of the “Jealous” population leave everyone else alone and let it go?

who is benefitting from things getting “nerfed” ? sure as hell players are not.

not every player have moms and dads with a silver/gold bar plugged in all their holes since birth. people that work and have a family to care for cant afford to drop gold bars in game to enjoy content/playing.

sincerely, at the rate this is going, what is going to be nerfed to oblivion next?

to be fair to all players, i suggest that anet makes a change where every single PvE area is changed to 0 loots. give a chest to players as daily. only 1 of each mat per day per map. lodestones etc only in dungeons also in chest. every mob everywhere drops nothing.

well why? isnt that what this nerfing is all about?

I think the op means bring back the fun of farming to gw2 that we had in gw1.

Gw2 is become very uninteresting to farm anything anywhere as nothing really drops anymore. This is becoming a very big problem for Anet as everyone that came from gw1 was either hardcore pvp or Farmers. The pvpers have there compitions, wvw , farmers are running out of things to do as it has become so hard to get any drops its just not worth playing.

The fact that Legendary’s are so hard to farm the mats for is a joke and not worth the effort since the drop rate is so incredible low for a start.

Then there is nothing in game that is fun to farm for, eg like named weapon drops that were in gw1 or rare/collectibles weapons apart from the dragon chests, which become so mundane of an event to do its not fun in anyway.

There will always be bots /hacks and exploits in every game that some ppl seam to have the need to use, but that doesn’t mean that the rest of the community should suffer from an introduced “fix” to the problem. Anet have done wonders in regards to the bots that were running rampant , but the farmers need to have the fun brought back into the game for the long-term success of the game.

I do hope that the devs listen to the community and come up with a better balance for all.

Most mobs in meta events (especially) are there to put pressure on you, not to give loot. The loot is that big nice chest that you get after the event ends.

I would prefer a chest. Either that or make every single each event timed and only spawn it once every 3 hours max.

nope. I would be lost in statistics. One person doesn’t really matter. Whole players matter. Right now the events are the way that I like them. If majority of the players wanted intense farming we would see massive farming spots.

We would see those, but they keep nerfing them every chance they get as long as they are not cof p1.

Without loot there really is no replay incentive. Player complete content once then never go back b/c what’s the point. There is almost always somewhere else to go that provides the same game play mechanics/playability and has >rewards. This results in areas becoming mostly void of players. Hello? I bet you’re talking about the veteran/champion spider at shelter’s gate? I still don’t understand why they made that change.

i mean in general. everything as one.

every time you see a nerf, a patch, its always good on patch notes fixing stuff that’s bugged. but underneath that cover, there are still plenty of things anet can do without letting you know.

its pretty simple for them to change a value on something via server side, its either a .cfg or smth. even more simple an executable that can scroll and pick what to change.

due to the nature of it being server sided configurations they can keep it under wraps…

its just the values, no contents have been changed so i guess they can keep it off the patch notes.

last time everything drops something.. now due to the excuse of (in the name of) “bots” and “botting” and “Exploiting” etc, everything is reduced to ash.

also the claims from people saying thakittens an “Exploit”, its just silly.

most players here don’t really care for each other honestly. its all about me, myself and what i want.

its a competition, what i have you cannot have. i must be the sole person that have it.

have you ever seen it in-game? on forums? i bet u do.

point is, make it fair. all for one, one for all.

Anet, this isn’t just you vs botters. what you are doing is affecting everyone else in-game. you don’t need to farm for the materials, you can get it with a click or just edit the database for stuff. hell, you can even have equips with 99999 on all stats with full 150 trait points.

now, what we as a player want, is just a chance to achieve something. every time we players try to get something, you guys remove it so it becomes pointless to even try.

why must us players suffer because you are fighting bots? do you not have another alternative? can you not “detect” this changes? can you not make it so 3rd party software users get auto banned before even getting into game?

how is this fair? you fight botters, we all suffer. where is the logic in this?

there are alot of nerfs since release regarding to farming. never ending. why us? why do we have to accept your “bot preventing” policies that are hurting everyone instead of the bots themself? they can still make bots that run around maps killing stuff. ive seen quite a few anyway and reported.

so, is there a better solution for this issue?

Orr nerf at cursed shore, etc etc. i cant list them all there are toooooooooo many. try googling around.

I think the logic behind it is if they keep us from accumulating in game wealth we will have to spend real money in the gem store instead of just trading gold.

It’s eminently possible to make gold in game. I made 10 today in about two hours, playing inefficiently.

As to the OP? I’m not fond of the spider hatchlings being spawned by the Veteran and the veteran hatchlings spawned by the champion spiders. They drop no loot, are a pain to kill (the vets anyway) and add nothing but tedium to the fight.

still its “in the name of botting”. what did we normal players do? we did not hack, we did not steal, we did not rob. why are we being punished?

if they be transparent and state :

“We (Anet) Do NOT want YOU (Players) to accumulate wealth in-game, We (Anet) Do not want you to get Anything by Playing. You must PAY to GET something. Buy GEMS or GTFO.”

i will gladly accept it and move on to another game.

i dont think anet is covering that with “botting” i think. but if it is, please do state it black and white.

show me where. dungeon or orr? what about t6 mats? how many?

if you did not get t6 mats, what did you get?

if no t6 mats, what happens when even TP runs out? its so cheap, blood and scales are up to 25s each. maybe it should hit 1g each like lodes

btw, im talking in general, and im farming/grinding for mats. not gold.

I ran around Orr for two hours; mostly farmed nodes, which I sold. I did a Jofast’s, a shelter and a penitent. I also wasted (from a time = reward standpoint) 10 minutes killing a Champ Risen Wraith because it took 5-6 minutes for people to get the message to move away during the life drain phase. I got about 40 Moldy Bags in total, with maybe 7-8 T6 mats in them. Sold them all along with 31 Ori, a stack of mithril, a half stack of wood, omnoms, etc.

likely u got 30 bags from those penitent events, and maybe 10 more from odd mobs. ores only from nodes.

i have rows of orich and mithril, pretty useless but serves as a backup instead when i need them.

back to point. after all that 2 hours and u got 10 gold. how much t6 mats in total did you get? that you sold? i mean, bloods, scales, bones, totems etc. not including leather, gossamer and mithril/orich trash.

10 gold can only get you about 38 bloods. or 10 icy runestones. or a crafting recipe. (that is by sacrificing loot you get for gold and converting back into a different mat.)

to get full set of 250 of each t6 mats and 500 ectos + lodes etc. how long does it take to get them?

or just to fill up your bank?

I wish I could be more help. Like I said, I got 7 to 8 T6 mats. I sold them, and don’t remember exactly what they all were — although I do remember getting a blood, a venom sack, a dust and a claw. I’m not collecting for a legendary, so I pretty much sell anything I don’t need right now for crafting exotics for alts.

The bag estimate might have been closer to 25 at events and the rest from random mobs, as I got several during the 10 minutes or so it took to do the underwater kills for the daily.

I agree that it takes a long time to gather for the legendary, but those were put in to the game to be massive time sinks, so yeah, that’s grind by design.

T6 mats drop in
1. High level dungeons (CoE, Arah)
2. Fractals (dredge fractal bags, T6 blood from the asura fractal, T6 scales from the underwater fractal
3. Orr. Comes in bags.
4. Frostgorge. It was even very popular to kill trolls there for T6 mats. The drop has not decreased at all, it’s just that people found other spots.

i wish i had screenie but never did expect the loots to be nerfed that badly. and yes it does give 10 loots @ maw last time, even 2 months ago but still that depends on luck. now im not sure.

usually i get about 3 lodes/cores mix with few exotics/rares.

the last time i did it, it only gave blues and greens. and maw only drops 5 loots.

remember the days people run in just for the chest cuz they give high chances of exotics.. not anymore sadly.

you dont see people asking for fotm 38/48 anymore do you? i only see people asking for fotm 1, 10, 20, and thats about it.

and also honestly speaking, nobody wants to go fotm nowdays. myself wont bother.

i mean, honestly. if every chest have a rate to give 80% white, 10% blue, 5% green, 3% rare and 0.5% on exotic, with 1.5% misc orbs will that be ok?

that is the feeling/vibe im getting tho. you guys want it tougher. harder to get things, stuff on tp to grow in price until its totally impossible to buy and then complain about it when its too late. or to your advantages. :/

yeah those spots i do know. but the main point here in this post is :

Why are we getting Punished because Anet is fighting bots?

Why are we considered as “BOTS” or treated as one because there are a few running rampant?

the last time i did it, it only gave blues and greens. and maw only drops 5 loots.

remember the days people run in just for the chest cuz they give high chances of exotics.. not anymore sadly.

you dont see people asking for fotm 38/48 anymore do you? i only see people asking for fotm 1, 10, 20, and thats about it.

and also honestly speaking, nobody wants to go fotm nowdays. myself wont bother.

i mean, honestly. if every chest have a rate to give 80% white, 10% blue, 5% green, 3% rare and 0.5% on exotic, with 1.5% misc orbs will that be ok?

that is the feeling/vibe im getting tho. you guys want it tougher. harder to get things, stuff on tp to grow in price until its totally impossible to buy and then complain about it when its too late. or to your advantages. :/

yeah those spots i do know. but the main point here in this post is :

Why are we getting Punished because Anet is fighting bots?

Why are we considered as “BOTS” or treated as one because there are a few running rampant?

and it still has a very high chance to get you exotics. I was running it daily recently to get more rings for other characters and respects. Sometimes I get lodes, sometimes I get account bound exos (with very weird stat combos, I even made a thread about it O_O)
And if nobody wants to run high level fractals then why can I screenshot this off the LFG site at 5 AM for you? The 36 to 38 one? It’s very kitten popular.

Popular? Take a look at elapsed time lol

It’s eminently possible to make gold in game. I made 10 today in about two hours, playing inefficiently.

Amazing how that works. You actually play the game and make gold. Whouda thunk it?

I think the logic behind it is if they keep us from accumulating in game wealth we will have to spend real money in the gem store instead of just trading gold.

We have a winner.

What do you win?

A Cox Box! It’s a magical box filled with hopes, dreams and maybe a rare skin for your weapon… Oh wait, no…. It’s filled with tears and kitten.

The good news is, now that you’ve had a taste, could you buy more on our gem store?

bah, forget it man, might as well organize a wvw group with agreement, 3 servers, each person taps once and kill each time for loots and wxp. much easier vs exploits.

full wvw map 80 x3 = 240 people – 80 = 160.

100 to 160 lootbags per time, take off armors and stand there better vs exploits.

nice time nice find. but still doesn’t help when i post one and wait for 2 hours and only find 2 people. besides i have a bunch of toons at fotm 50, im telling you by experience.

you can see those posts there but how many get filled compared to like say 3 months + ago?

alright, say it lost some of its steam, but still for fotm 48 it takes hours to get people to join. ill post one right now and see how long it takes for people to join

I can continue making these every hour even. For example Europe at 6 AM now (1 hour later) starts slowly waking up.
But you can check these yourself. http://www.gw2lfg.com/
Groups fill up so easily compared to not popular dungeons in the game. Like SE, CoE, etc.

“Point of adds with no loot?”

There is no point, to kill a monster and to not get a reward. Man putting that aspect into a video game is like a huge slap to your face. Generations of games that is common knowledge that if you kill something, you will receive some type of loot.

I have no idea what the staff of Arena Net is thinking.

Most mobs in meta events (especially) are there to put pressure on you, not to give loot. The loot is that big nice chest that you get after the event ends.

This. The mobs are not there for you to farm. They are there to stop you from completing the event. The event has it’s own rewards. If you want to farm mobs, farm the mobs that naturally spawn, not the ones that are part of events. Event mobs should never drop loot, IMO.

Oh man, how dare they try and redefine the MMORPG genre!? Have you not been listening? That’s been their goal from day 1. If you don’t want a new experience, play a different game. Guild Wars 2 is the MMORPG for players that are tired of the old MMORPG style. However, if you like the old style, I hear World of Warcraft is still releasing expansions.

no mobs in pve zone should give loots, only via event completion to get 1 or 2 loots

So certain monsters shouldn’t drop loot? Ah that doesn’t make much sense to me, what would be the point in doing the event then since there is not any good rewards besides from the world bosses? Which is why people usually don’t do majority of events anyways….

I wasn’t referring to mmorpg’s, I was referring to every game in existence. You know like a couple of examples, Final Fantasy(tonics), Uncharted(ammo), Zelda (rubies)…I could go on and on. Your acting like you don’t ever get rewards for killing monsters, I don’t know where you are trying to go with this argument.

To have a monsters not drop anything is still pretty preposterous to me sorry.

Of course, outside of meta events, regular events give a measly bit of copper and karma. And then there is no surprise that people end up in instances.

In reality, I don’t care about the hatchlings not dropping loot. But when they’re veterans and constantly immobilize you, that’s a completely different problem.

nope. I would be lost in statistics. One person doesn’t really matter. Whole players matter. Right now the events are the way that I like them. If majority of the players wanted intense farming we would see massive farming spots.

lolled. lost for words
there are actually massive farming spots and anet fixed all of them
do you need lists of the spots?
also remembering most of my friends quit the game cause of the fixes

It’s been the same at Jormag for a long time.

They nerfed Jormag mob loot. They nerfed fotm mob loot (to discourage running the dungeon). They nerfed Lyssa union mob loot. They nerfed shelt/pen by adding horrible vet spiders with no loot. They nerfed plinx loot.

See the trend here? The only loot not nerfed on mobs yet is pretty much Southsun. Every time a good farming event is located it is swarmed by dedicated players, lots of PVE or WVW players trying to make up the money gap between CoF speed run players and TP farmers.

and did you read my post properly? Farmers are not the majority in this game.

Nope. Endless adds however shouldn’t spawn loot, because then people will just repeatedly kill them instead of completing the event. That is exactly what was happening with Lyssa. And if you read the statement of the developer they were not nerfed outside of the Lyssa event. It’s only during the event in that particular spot that you won’t get loot, because the purpose of the adds there is just to make you work for your guaranteed loot at the end of the event chain.

I do remember people not doing Jormag and just focusing on the adds making his fight insanely long and I also remember people just farming the never ending spawn in the icy fractal. Fixes were needed for smoother gameplay. Same can be said about Lyssa.

Well yeah, the point is that the rewards should be worthy of the effort you put into completing the event. At the moment, that isn’t always true. Just think about the motivation behind events. Say you are given the task of protecting a village from ogres. You aren’t there to hunt ogres for loot, you are there to defend the village. In turn, you should get a viable reward. Maybe a villager gives you something, or you claim the ogre king’s prized possession. But waiting for more ogres to come and looting every corpse doesn’t seem in line with the point of the event. The current system needs a little reworking so all events are viable, and that’s what they are trying to do over time.

If mob can kill me it should give me chance to get loot, otherwise i don’t want to fight it.

^THIS HAHAHAHAHA

As I said, you are tasked with fighting the mobs because they stand between you and a goal. If your goal is killing mobs, sure, you should be rewarded for that. If your goal is collecting shells while angry fish try and attack you, you should be rewarded by collecting the shells as fast as possible and surviving the fish; not by killing the fish, since that’s not the goal. Sometimes you have to fight mobs because they corner you, or there is a timer that you need to hold out for. Running away in this case would make you lose the event.

you’re once again are being pedantic now about the description of farming. Driving to work every day is farming. Playing trough a game more than once is farming. However when we talk about farming we normally mean doing the same thing many times in a short time window.
Example: you’re not really farming if you run a few dungeon paths every day. You are however farming when you decide to run the same paths 20 times in the same day.

Do you mean the one that drops blues and greens 90% of the time? Because if that’s it (and that’s all its ever going to be) then I must respectfully decline.

You could have said that months ago and maybe I would have agreed, but you can’t really say it when loot has been significantly upped in meta events. Even without the guaranteed rare you have a high chance to get rares and exotics in that chest. Sometimes I got an exotic, sometimes I get up to 4 rares in total from one event, most of the time the average is 2. If you want to complain about chest rewards complain about the still broken ones – dungeon chests, jumping puzzle chests, chests guarded by champions.

Silly me, I thought I was complaining about those too. I’ll happily agree that certain world event chests have better loot than they used to. That being said, with exotics being the most rare gear that drops from any of those places as well as the STATISTICALLY BEST gear that drops just about anywhere (yeah FotM blah blah blah), how many exotics do you see doing those events?

I can’t speak for everyone, but I’ve done pretty much all the world events and dragon champions scores (if not hundreds) of times and I think to date I’ve seen a grand total of 0 exotics drops for myself. The only exotics I’ve ever gotten as drops were from Dungeons (now we’re in the area of 3, and one was an exotic recipe >< for something that would require about 75g worth of crafting materials). Sure, maybe I just have impressively bad luck… except that most of the people I talk to in-game are having the same thing happen to them.

A big chest stuffed with insta-merch that often is not sufficient incentive for many players. Now, if you wanna talk about making rares have the same stats as exotics as legendaries but with more desirable skins, that might go a long way to changing how people feel (or it might not… dunno).
