Hello all,

So, about a week ago, I though I’d hope back into GW 2 (since I own the game and can come and go as I please), just to check out how it’s changing, and at least in my opinion, it took a turn for the worst, but this isn’t what the post is about, so anyways…

I recently convinced a friend to hop back into Guild Wars 2, after he had been away for a an even longer time than I had been away, in fact, he only stayed for like 2 months after launch, and then quit (or maybe even a month).

Anyways, yesterday, he was getting upset at the game, wondering why he wasn’t able to collect skillpoints, and or even find points of interest on the map. Naturally, I haven’t had this problem once, and I figured it might be a bug, or something, but, later that night, he must have done some research or something, because he had then went on telling me he wasn’t able to find anything until lvl 9, nor collect skillpoints, and or commune with them.

After thinking this over a bit, it doesn’t quite make sense now, I haven’t had this problem once, not even when I create a brand new character, and start at level 1, I’m still able to find points of interest, and commune with skillpoints. I don’t know if beating the main story has anything to do with this though, as, I have beat the story and such a long time ago, where he has yet to do so.

So I guess with all that said; why can’t my friend collect skillpoints, and why are the points of interest not showing up on his map? Is it true they require certain levels now?

Note: I browsed some older forums and only found people who weren’t able to commune at skillpoints, but again, it doesn’t make sense to me, since I have no issues regardless of my level.

Old accounts (ones made before the NPE was put in) don’t have the restrictions that new accounts do. New accounts can’t click on the PvP or WvW buttons until around level 20 (unless they go to LA and go inside Heart of the MIsts and WvW that way). New accounts don’t see POIs and such until a certain level (but old accounts will still see them from the beginning). New accounts can’t dye their armor until level 6. New accounts can’t interact with skillpoints themselves until level 13 (but if it’s a fighting skill challenge, they can join in the fight if someone else starts it first).

So yup, things require certain levels for new accounts.
