I would be perfectly fine with 1000 gems as price! But I was figuring if bought them normally for 2000 you could get roughly 80+ trans charges. That is a very large sum (not to mention by the time you used them all you would have more from just doing content). So I personally think 2000 is a fair price, but I would be the last one to complain if it was decided to be lower. =P

So, I’ve started doing daily PvP to get access to T charges (and other items). Since I have no plans to buy individual T charges, 1000 gems as a convenience item would be worth considering. 2000 would be higher than I would be interested in paying.

However ANet has the metrics on what the average person pays for T charges per year and whether or not my spending is typical.

Yeah i feel 2k is a bit high, but the price could be worked with. I think the idea of whether people would buy such an item is the real goal here though.

The results so far are almost one sided. With this data, i’m sure anet could come up with something. It really would not be all that difficult.

The most interesting part is that half of the data is gathered in the section labled “No, but I would buy an unlimited transmutation stone.”

People who ALREADY have enough stones, would still buy it. This goes back to my “positive psychological” marketing of not having to worry about stones at all or how many uses, etc. This in turn would create more skin sales i feel. It’s a rolling effect, it compounds 1 thing into another. More skins bought usually means the playerbase is enjoying the game and the content more etc, more money for anet to do things to the game with which leads to happier playerbase again etc etc etc

But it all starts somewhere

you dont know what pay to win is dude…

anyone who uses just 1 transmuation per day and plans on playing the game still longer than 2 months would make big profit with that infinite use item for 2k gems

and considering that after just 75 transmutation you would have spent more gems with the current transmutation charge offer in the gemshop

if you play enough pvp ofc you have barely a problem with transmutation charges because of the reward tracks

but if you like to use tons of transmutation charges per day like i do

I know if I had an unlimited T stone I would make daily, frivolous changes to my char’s appearance, just because I could. Now, because I have to pay or work for each T charge, I think about any changes with the consideration that any change I make will be long term, relatively speaking, anywhere from weeks to months before the next change.

I would do the same. To me the endgame of gw2 is all about your characters look. So having this would let me explore all sorts of crazy mix n match combos! Plus the character preview window just doesn’t do dyes or clothing justice. ..

I guess I should also state, if this happened to come out as a gemstore item I would buy without a second thought happily giving my shiny gems to anet (bought with money). If this happens to be a black lion chest item I will still buy, but it ill be exclusively from farming bl keys and saving up gold to purchase in game (basically meaning that it takes much longer for me and anet gets nothing). I already got perma bank,merch,and bl this way, but would have got with gems if option was available. Plus I don’t think I’m the only one that thinks this way. Just thought I would throw this out there!

I would pay 8-10k gems for an unlimited transmutation stone.

- I don’t care what price this would be if it were real.
- I don’t care how short/long it’s in the gem store for if it were real.
- I would buy this instantly if it were real.

I have many alts and constantly having to use trans charges is quite annoying. This item would be great for those who chew up a lot of trans charges.

If they make it soulbound like harvesting Tools then it would still be profitable for Anet.

As was previously stated, 2k gems would mean something like 80 charges. This is ridiculously low, considering the importance of the wardrobe. For comparison, think of how much an infinite harvesting tool costs compared to just buying individual picks.

In a game where rewards are largely cosmetic, transmutation charges ensure that people play the game as well as make use of the gem-store. Giving up on that for as low as 2k gems isn’t gonna happen.

By comparison, I remember when I bought my first unlimited gathering tool (the molten pick, when it was first out), people calculated that you’d need to use it something like 50,000 times before you started to turn a profit on the unlimited part. I suspect it’s way, way more now… given that gems cost more gold, the item itself costs more (as it was made account bound), and the comparison should rightly be made to the cheapest tools available (being the frostbitten ones, atm).

80 transmutation charges is nothing compared to that. You’d only need to change an entire outfit (7 items, including backpiece) 11 and a half times before you’re starting to make a profit. No way would this be sold for as little as 2k gems.

I think a lot of wvw player would pay for that. We like to change our appearance to not be reckognisable

Basically what raptor said, these people may want to change an outfit of up to three characters a day, and even if it’s just one, grinding for an hour everyday can be a huge inconvenience.

While something like this item would be nice, I don’t think we’ll actually ever see one. If we do, I would expect its price to be quite high as this would remove a lifetime potential purchase for the account in question.

Yes, trans charges are relatively easy to come by if you’re willing to work for them, but we don’t know how much income is generated from people just buying them via the gem store. This item could mean a potential profit reduction from Anet’s primary mode of income, and that’s something that they will likely weigh heavily in their decision to make or not make an item like this.

You can’t harvest for free. You need to buy gathering tools. And it’s the best comparison available: unlimited gathering tools are the only unlimited items available to be directly bought from the gemstore. The other unlimited items come from BL chests, meaning their TP price is set by players.

True, some use a lot but you never know it might balance out with those that rarely use and have 200 free ones sitting around. We can’t say anything for sure without being able to run the numbers. I’m just hoping it at least gets released as a rare bl drop similar to hair changer. But if that’s the case as previously stated anet gets nothing as I would simply use in game gold.

I bought one of the permanent bank accesses from the trading post for 735 gold and it’s such a QoL feature, it’s worth every bit of the gold I spent. It’s really great to have immediate access to my bank no matter where i am or what I’m doing. I have no idea why ANet doesn’t put this item in the gem store as something it sells directly. In addition, I know other people would love to buy permanent hair kits and I’m sure the big TP traders would be interested in permanent merchants and TP accesses.

I really feel ANet is underestimating the market for permanent items of this sort.

I would like that, but if ever made it will probably be inside BLC.

Actually I think that changes in transmutation made year ago was for better sells and if people are buying charges as often as me it was probably succesful move.

Even then, this poll only represents the portion of the viewers who actually see it on the forums, not all forum goes. On top of that not all players view the forums, so i wonder if there’s a better wya to gather larger amounts of data, because compared to the millions of copies sold, these numbers are fairly small

True the poll only has around 160 at this point, but out of those 160 they range all over the world! I think that’s very exciting. Would love it if it could get into the 10,000s or millions but only anet has the ability to do that.

1 or 2 week passes are probably a good idea to make money, but as long as a permanent version exists also (if it was only 2 week passes I would simply be depressed ha ha). Do something like the Aircaptain pass thing where they have both. I personally have never been a fan of timed items (nor do I personally support them) but they do make money, and I don’t mind anet making some on the side.

Yes. Because paying a subscription every month is a much better revenue stream. Not.

I will no longer play subscription based games. However, I have no problem dropping $200-$500 on micro transactions in games such as this. Its much more rewarding than paying a sub and having everything everybody else has. :P
