All is in the title. with such a list, it would be so easy for Anet to see what people really want and with how much weight.

This list could just have a title with very short definition, and a link to the related topic. Each GW account could support 1 suggestion maximum in the list at the same time. It is possible to change once per day. The suggestions could be trimmed by popularity

This way we would really see what are the most wanted changes.

I’m sorry, but this sort of thing’s been suggested before. Prepare yourself for a lot of explanations of what a small fraction of the playerbase is on the forums, and for being advised that just because a suggestion is requested a lot doesn’t give it any weight with the devs if it doesn’t fit their design or would hurt it.

Well, I didn’t say that devs would have to follow the community, they have “carte blanche”. They are actually gathering the forum to know what are the gamers thinking about the game, so I think that it could at least be a useful tool for them, not only the community.

Who will tally the ‘votes’ each day? Who will keep the thread ‘on topic’.

It sounds a bit like the CDIs, and they were a monster to consolidate.

I think it is probably the FS’s concern to keep tabs on the pulse of the forum’s direction of interest.

The Devs (in the past, not sure if they’ve changed their mind) were not supportive of any kind of surveys in-game or out.

I don’t see how it could work. Debates about one suggestion would be intermingled with debates on other suggestions. People could spam a thread with suggestions such as dueling or mounts then upvote them to show how popular they are. People with multiple accounts could log in to upvote their own suggestions and others they particularly like. Nonsense suggestions would be posted alongside reasonable ones. It would be a mess and not very useful.

You just have like 1 line 1 suggestion with the popularity points:

52 [check box] Title – quick description linked to a topic
15 [check box] Title – quick description linked to a topic
11 [check box] Title – quick description linked to a topic

People can only tick 1 check box at a time, increasing the popularity points of the related suggestion by 1. If a person change his mind and tick another box, he will automatically untick the first suggestion and this one will lose the point of popularity related to this person.

When anybody create a suggestion topic he will have to tick a box (and fill the reduced title & description) to automatically send the suggestion to the list. The suggestion can get votes from people on the list page or on the topic page, but the suggestion only appear in the list if it is a top 20 for example, so you avoid people spamming the list.

It’s not so easy to implement I know that, but if it is done that way it would be fully automated.

I would also like to read people thinking how can it be done in a better way, this suggestion is probably far from being perfect.

For the fact people can do multiple account, well I don’t see the point because you have to buy the game to have another account right? and if they got 2 votes instead of 1 on their own suggestion, it is not competitive enough over the entire community.

So where are people to go to make this list and vote? It certainly isn’t something one can do on the forums…

I thought it as a new feature for the forum. Yes I know you are going to tell me I’m crazy but look : this is 1 web page displaying 1 list and you have to add a tick box to the new topic page. I don’t know really but in my opinion a web designer intern can do it in 2 weeks.

In my opinion such a functionality could be very helpful not only for GW2’s forum but for a lot of forums. Actually every forum where you can find a lot of suggestions.

So if I understand well, Devs don’t care about the community? I don’t think so, I know they have their own goals but I think they are also listening even just a bit the community and sometime maybe few ideas from this community could happen.

30 accounts? seriously? is it legal? and for what? for running bot farming? I don’t see the point to have so many accounts otherwise. If you know the reason why people do this please tell me because I’m lost.

They can’t even get a working search on the forum in the last 2 years or more. They had to tell people to search by using google: Searching the Forums. I don’t think they will be able to set up the voting system you are suggesting.

(The multiple accounts is free gold for logging in each day. 55 laurels every 28 days-converted to T6 mats)

The forum is not working as intended and not open to custom things like you suggest due to a fall out between the forum contractor and Anet:

The problem is deep within the technology behind the forum structure itself. Yes, we had a search engine in the beginning, but it was broken by our forum contractor in the course of working on other things. We no longer have a relationship with that contractor or his company, and someone else is not able to step into the system and fix the search engine because (1) our programmers are tasked with other essential work, (2) the forums run on a web framework with which most of our programmers are not familiar and (3) we’re investigating other options for forums and it would not be prudent to pour money into hiring someone to fix this as a short-term solution.

I don’t know what to say guys, it looks like as the game, the forum is actually a very beautiful box with a dirty mechanic inside… This game is intended to last quite a long time and to be modified from time to time, maybe Anet should have invest more for the future of the game, now it’s so hard to make changes.

I suggest then to talk about the suggestion without considering these issues that shouldn’t be, otherwise we can bury it.

Well, i could suggest to make ingame quest, monthly, where you talk to npc and answer questions, you need to wait 5 sec to go to next question to reduce random answers from people who just want to get reward.After this quest you get some reward, exp for new players,karma or anything that is needed in late game.

Way more answers than in forum you would get and devs would be informed about what players think of current game state.

The problem is that people could easily vote for stuff that will simply either not work in the game or won’t fit the way ArenaNet are going with the game. And then they would just refer to those votes and shout and rage about how ArenaNet “never do anything that the community wants” and so on.

It would simply create more issues than it would solve I would say.

With Multi-accounts, the complaints from people who didn’t see the poll etc I’d say it would not be a good idea to implement plus,
As the others have said suggestions shouldn’t just be followed because of popularity, it would not work out well. For instance,
“Remove all TP fee’s”
“Remove all WP costs”
“Make everything purchasable with gold/gems”
“Allow HOM skins to be unlocked through GW2”

Are all suggestions that would likely be popular, but for the sake of game stability (first two) and reward structure (second two) should not be implemented.

Anet staff can explain why things are not possible. This is not because a part of the community is too stubborn to understand things that Anet have to lie to them or ignore them to avoid them to turn angry.

People just shouldn’t expect Anet to make all the changes they want. In my opinion the simple fact to know that our suggestions are at least read by the staff is already great.

Imagine if this suggestion become true and then Anet answer to most popular thread by :

-We are sorry to announce you that TP fee’s wont be removed because they are necessary evil for the stability of the market. Without these ones, the game would die in 3 months.

or :

-This suggestion caught our attention, we are looking into it.

or even :

-This isn’t the direction we want for the game.

I think people would probably stop voting for impossible suggestions because of the officials statements.

For the new “classes” such as dragon hunter the attunement is more light based. It would be nice if there was more customization to allow players to adjust the particle affects for the class. For in the case of dragon hunter instead of the blue guardian constructs/flames, to allow you to change the color to pure white, and/or white yellowish to add variation, but still stick with the overall class theme while allowing for more customization.
