Connor, when you see a server FULL means that the people who’ve chosen that server as theirs, or players who have moved to that particular server, have reached the cap, independently of where did they create their accounts.

Answering to your second question: no, there is no chart that shows that kind of information at the moment, I am afraid.

So my friend threw me the cash to buy GW2 and I was very happy, of course. I have been wanting to play GW2 for several years now. So all that downloading and finally I am there! And… Oh great.. Server full.

See, my friend is a member of one very large and powerful guild and so, all of those who follow that guild (of which there are many), follow them to the one server that I just want to get on with my friend and play upon!

Well, understandable… We all figure that if we wait and keep trying, then enough people will have to go to bed that I can get to play…

NOPE… It is the number of accounts registered to that server and server transfers are (from what I am told) rather expensive and as everyone wants to be with the cool kids, the chances of them transferring away, rather than just stop playing (and leaving their account active in their absence) seems kind of low, to me. So while there is probably plenty of room for me on the server, I can not get on.

I do not understand why this is a thing. I must be misunderstanding something. If that is how things are, then.. Well an analogy in my head would be: if a grocery store will not sell you your weekly groceries because unrelated to the current stock, the capped number of people have already bought the maximum number of bottles of milk today. No they don’t care about how much stock is actually there; milk was on special and it it is not their job to worry about the logic separating your children from eating this week.

I hope this did not read as ranty. I am just feeling confused and disappointed; not angry.

If you delete all your characters you can freely switch servers again.

I’d say they’ll make more space on servers now they’re basicly giving away the game for 10 euro.
Keep an eye on the server you’d like to play on, when it got spots again – put all your stuff on the bank and delete chars, then freely switch.

I’ve read over the quoted post a few more times and am thinking now that I did misunderstand it.

Except for WvW you don’t need to be on the same server as your friend in order to play with him.

WvW was the big selling point for me and the thing that he wants to get me into most. How long will it take me to save up the 1800 gems required to transfer or is that irl purchased currency?

I really want to get into character creation. I would rather not be on another server but this server is not going to clear out any time soon, it seems.

Seemed more like a general discussion thing. It’s not an error that lots of people are using the server… There should at least be a wait que… and a way to get to character creation without going through this fluff. If I was playing around in character creation while I was downloading, I would have been thrilled. I think one of the Final Fantasies did that. So much saved time.

at pax the announcer mentioned factions. !!!!??
I know that does not mean much.. it was not a official announcement…..
but it would be sweet if they made wvw faction based

than people could play together with out servers getting in the way

I’m having the same issue. Frustrating as kitten. Popped on randomly all night as well and full continuously. I don’t see the point in joining another server just to join another server so here I sit, waiting.

How can a server be statically full? I have been up all night trying to get on. Player counts fluctuate! Why is the server always full and the rest of america always very high?

That post from CC Eva is waaaay out of date. Servers don’t work that way anymore.

You can read that news post for the full details on how Megaservers work, but, generally, your homeworld isn’t as much of a hassle as it used to be.

If you’re in a party with your friend and you’re in two different copies of a map, right-click on their portrait and choose “Join in <map name>.” That will try to send you to their copy of the map. If that doesn’t work, have them try the same on your portrait.

Maps sometimes get full, mostly around pack-in events like Tequatl, but I’d be surprised if you’re both in full maps.

I like the way they did there servers. Full servers means the max number of accounts calls that server home. It also means that there will never be a time I can’t log in to play because the servers are full and there is an astimated hour wait to login.

Until this sale, no servers have been full for quite some time. You can wait until (I am guessing TC) becomes available, again (that may be quite a long wait…or they may raise the population cap, again), or you can create your account on a different server with the intention of deleting all your characters and transferring at no cost when the server of choice opens up, or purchasing the 1800 Gems (with in-game gold or cash) and transferring your characters, as well as your account.

i think??? u could guest and play pve and pvp till something opens up than choose your server… u could still play with friends on your way to 80 before u go to wvw

wait for the expansion and “hope” they add factions to wvw so it will be easier to play with who u want in wvw
