I’m not quite sure if this should be general or in the thread for the market, but I think that info about a name change would be in the general area.

Anyhow, I have heard that ArenaNet is thinking of implementing a name change option through the in-game store. If this is true I have this one question: are surnames the same as first names, as in only one person can have that particular name?

My boyfriend and I would like to have the same last name (our first names in-game are the male and female version of each other).

You both can use the surname

If I used rukia bonfire you could use rukia icefire etc.

i couldn’t make heads or tails of what you are asking. If a name is identical to another name they won’t allow it. Hope that answered your question

I hope they get it in there. A gender change without a name change gets you a boy named sue.

In terms of names, the whole name must be unique. You certainly could have a last name that’s the same as someone else’

Yes – it’s the whole name string, first name + surname, which needs to be unique. So you could easily do this as long as the whole names you chose were not already taken.

I’d be interested in this name change option as well.

It’s been mentioned before, I think, but regardless of that there’s an item in the db called ‘Name Change Contract’ so something must surely be in the works. That item appeared there in October or so.

Guess the issue behind why it’s not yet featured must be related to the operation of the actual name-change in-game. When Anet has forced it due to banned words/black list it’s been one thing, but now it will be able to happen lots of times, by lots of characters… how do they treat 24 locks? What if you buy 10 name changes and change your name 10 times? All those names locked? Etc. etc.

Because i have my makeover. I wanted it since a long time (to make my female warrior a male one). But there’s little problem with it.

If i use makeover my new MALE warrior will be named JULYIA (another version of Juliet name).

RP as Jules The Warrior, he/she is a bit gender-confused until the name change comes along

I found it in a random blog. I was just browsing about possible makeover kits and stumbled upon it. Sorry I can’t provide a better description :/

They should weave this into the game. Have the vendor for it be in the home cities as some govt office. In game it would be called something like a personal identification alteration license tax, lol. Make it available but have some fun in-game with it.
