Not sure if someone has mentioned this – I just haven’t read it if it was mentioned.

I’ve read posts about how the upcoming patch will break the 14×14×14x14x14 trait builds of Celestial archetype players. Is there a reason why Anet couldn’t make the trait lines have 75 points instead of 70? I don’t even use Celestial, but I know that would please them to be 15×15×15x15x15, and the rest of us would get 5 more trait points – not necessarily a huge difference, but we could all find a way to use those points. This would probably enhance some different build types as well.

I know this post will be filled with all kinds of responses. I’m really only interested in why it would’t be beneficial – please minimize the trolling comments as no one really wants to read them and you’re wasting space and time, and therefore Einstein would be upset with you.

I wouldn’t complain about getting another 5 trait points but I doubt they would go for it and I’m sure there would be some issues with balancing and whatnot. But, what you’re saying makes sense. People that do Celestial traiting do get shafted but then again I doubt many do that in the first place so…

Celestial stat-ers will have to go 15/15/15/15/10 instead. They’ll lose 40 stats in something, but get the basic trait skills and 10 extra in everything else instead. I dont see how this will be a loss.

Right now, Celestial builds were the ‘cheesey’ way to do something. The game was not designed for it but people figured out they could do it, It was kind of like FoW farming with an Assassin in GW1. It was a cheesey build but it worked.

They are purposely redoing the traits so a build like Celestial will not be possible.

Excellent points. Thank you for clarity and honesty. I suppose 15/15/15/15/10 (or whatever variation) isn’t really a huge loss to Celestial builds now that I think of it.

Wow…

The 14/14/14/14/14 built was brought up by devs with a sarcasm sign next to it to illustrate that many players failed to understand traits mechanics and effectively lost 4 important major traits because they thought that an “all-rounder” is something good. To make the system fool-proof, the new system doesn’t allow players to miss these 4 major traits anymore.

20 level 80s and counting.

Except that sometimes those traits aren’t of any use. There is a huge amount of garbage traits in this game that are just completely worthless on a given build. So many times I keep cycling through the major traits to find something useful on master tier because I need something from grandmaster tier and the like…

It would be nice if each trait had multiple purposes like skills do. Its hard to find a skill that doesn’t do at least two things so that it remains useful in every situation. Unfortunately they didn’t design traits this way.

Above there was a bit of a mix-up. You would get 4 Minor traits, not 4 Major Traits. Minor traits tend to be very helpful. Like, say, in Elementalist, one of the professions that benefits the most from a full Celestial gearing. This gives them utility for switching their attunements, when they go into the 15/15/15/15/10 spread.

Engineer, the other class that benefits well from Celestial, also get very good utility from going away from the 14s all around. Yes, quite a lot of Major traits are subpar. The minor traits, though, have to be varied to be able to pair with as many builds as available, seeing as you can’t pick and choose them.

The fact that people thought 14/14/14/14/14 builds were good are a great example of why this change needs to be made.

Celestial gear I understand. Celestial trait setup? No.
