Hey there,

I’ve been wondering if there is a way to disable seeing your pet’s name. I am normally a solo player but now that I have joined a guild, the guild name appears next to my pet’s name and it’s an eyesore for me. I looked through the options but did not see anything off hand.

If there is not a way to do this, can I suggest ANet create a “Show pet name” options or just remove the guild tag showing by the pet’s name. Am I the only one annoyed by this?

I had not noticed it on other player pets until you said it and I had only just joined a guild and played hunter for the first time after reading this. While it does not offend me I do agree with you that it would be good to have the option to not show Guild by pet name & it would be good to have the option to not see any pet names for those who want to not see pet names. But that would probably have to apply to all pet names not just your own. I personally like to see pet names but would like to have it made so that a name once given to a pet remains that pets name, not becomes the name of one of your other pets should you switch with other pets you have acquired. I seem to be forever renaming my pets so that they keep the name I desired for them. And any time I tame a new pet it acquires the name of the previous pet so I go through it all again. Not a serious issue I guess but a unexpected one none the less. I do appreciate however, the ability to rename my pet multiple times should I desire a name change.

I haven’t had the issue of the pet name being repeated as pets are switched. I think it happened to me a while back and it hasn’t happened since, so I assumed it was a fixed bug. But it might be I don’t run into it because I don’t switch out to new pets, the two I have are pretty permanent companions and they each have their own names when I swap back and forth.

To clarify on my end, I enjoy seeing my pet’s name since I put a lot of time into naming them and I don’t wish to remove that, only as a way around not seeing the guild tag on them. Preferably, I wish the guild tag would be removed and I would be happy as a clam. But if they prefer to keep that as is, I could definitely take a “Display pet names” checkbox to get around it. I guess it’s just an OCD thing for me.

It’s certainly not a complaint I’ve seen before.

I don’t get it, what’s the issue with showing both the pets name and the guild tag, since you belong to a guild, your pet does as well. Of course, you could always Unrepresent your guild then no guild name shows.

No, your not the only one annoyed by this. I’m not fond of it either. Its bad enough its on my character’s name I don’t want to see it on my pets name. And since I’m not one for PvP, removing the guild tag shouldn’t cause any problems.

I’d like to see this too. But its been an issue since Guild Wars and many people have asked for in Guild Wars 2 with no success. Odd are against it.

I rather like showing my guild tag on both my character and pet. I think it’s funny to have a pet named Nameless [Pet]… (Nameless was my Assassin’s crane name in GW1 and now it’s the name of a red Moa from my Asuran ranger)

If people do like seeing the tag then I would opt for a simple check box in the option for those that don’t care for it and both parties can be catered to, I guess you could say. That “Show pet names” box would work great, I’m surprised it wasn’t an option since I see a similar box like that in most MMOs.
