Guild Wars 2

I use a separate email account for Guild Wars. I used it the entire length of GW1 and with a few password changes brought it over to GW2. I had never once has an issue with it.

I have never interacted with a gold seller. I have never been to a gold selling website. I do not use this email for anything other than GW. I have never been hacked on GW.

Why do I have Chinese IP’s trying to login to my email? Why do I keep getting emails in Chinese? Where did they get my email address? What other information do they have access to?

Am I the only one with this issue? It’s rather alarming that after 12 years of online gaming, this is a first.

Are you registered at any Guild Wars fan websites with that same email address? Sometimes gold sellers look to take advantage of these sites by running malicious ads on them that attempt to steal a players information.

Nope. Only GW nothing at all else.

I wasnt, the strangest thing to me is my account wasnt even made on this computer. To change the password which they did, you have to have the games seriel number. I have no idea where they got that info to change the password seeing as the number wasnt on my computer in any way.

yes this is a growing cancer. I think that it is on anets end that this is happening because of the fact commanders are getting hit as well – specifically. They scope out high value targets and hit them.

Most are like you OP.
Unique email/password – non gold buying ect.
I take it you have money and maybe a legendary? if so you are a prime target.

The only thing I can say is make a new email and swap out fast and sit on the account till the give up.
