I’ve had a large increase in pms from gold sellers in the past few days and I’m getting sick of it. The desired solution I usually see around the forums is the ability to restrict people who whisper you. And while that certainly would stop the spam, it would also cut off a type of communication which I admittedly don’t know the size of impact it has on the game.

What I would personally like is the ability to hide my online status from anyone not in my friends list/guild/current party/squad/etc. If that was implemented, spammers would have little choice but to blindly throw messages at offline players, which I imagine would not have high odds of getting someone who’s actually online. The only downside I can see to this is that it may negatively impact map chat and mail, but they’re not exactly in a good place anyway.

I have my status set to invisible and I no longer get spammed, but I really don’t want to have to hide from people who I can trust.
